A Unique Way to Say Mazel Tov

Here’s an original idea for a meaningful wedding gift that is steeped in Jewish tradition yet has a contemporary spin. Talented glass blowers offer a colorful hand-blown "mazel tov" glass that can be crushed beneath the chuppah on the couple's wedding day. And, instead of leaving a broken glass, after the ceremony the shards are used to create a hand-blown vessel that the bride and groom can treasure forever.
Mazel Tov Glass creates the wedding glasses and hand-blown pieces in their Brooklyn Studio. The company was founded by three long-time friends and talented glass blowers who had tired of giving the same wedding gifts off the same old registries. They put their hands and heads together to create a truly unique wedding present.
The trio met in 2000 when Andrea Osnow and Susan Schulman were in search of an instructor for their study of glassblowing. They were introduced to Kanik Chung, an accomplished glass blower who had already established himself as an independent glass artist and designer. The three hit it off and began to create glass art and the concept of Mazel Tov Glass evolved. In 2007 they formed their company and now work at Urban Glass studios in Brooklyn.
The process is quite simple: First they hand blow a Mazel Tov wedding glass in your color choice and then they ship it to you in a velvet bag imported from Israel. After the wedding ceremony, when the glass has been crushed, the glass shards are shipped back to Mazel Tov Glass in the shipping container provided. Next, the team suspends the shards in clear molten glass and hand blows a glass vessel shape chosen by the bride and groom. The entire process takes approximately six weeks.
The team at Mazel Tov Glass offers seven standard colors for the glass which include-blue, ivory, amethyst, green, yellow, orange, and turquoise. They will customize the color of your choice to your wedding colors, or to a paint chip color.
The wedding couple can also select the shape of the final product from several standard options. These shapes include a bouquet vase, a ginger jar vase, a v-bowl and a round bowl. The team has many great ideas and will happily create a custom shape. They have designed wine glasses, flowers, specially shaped vases, a ruffle bowl and a platter. For an additional fee, engraving is available and the finished piece can be inscribed with the name of the bride and groom and the date of their special day.
There are a variety of Mazel Tov Glass packages to choose from and prices range from $360 for a Something Special package to $1800 for an Everything Special Package where you choose the custom color and custom shape and engraving is included. Every package includes a choice of color for the glass, an imported, embroidered velvet bag from Israel and a custom heirloom piece. An instruction and traditions card is included in the package as well.
