Board to Consider Appeals to Gravel Surface Moratorium and Historic Preservation

The Board of Trustees will hold two meetings regarding lot coverage and teardowns in the next week.
On Thursday night 9-17 at 6:30 pm in the third floor meeting room of Village Hall, the Board's Law and Land Use Committees will consider a recommendation from the Planning Board regarding the gravel surface moratorium. The recommendation was made in response to an appeal from the owners of 45 Cushman Road to install a circular gravel driveway. Under the moratorium, the gravel surface would be considered as an impermeable surface and would cause the entire project to exceed the maximum lot coverage requirements. On Thursday night September 24, the Board of Trustees will consider two appeals to tear down homes that were designated as historically significant by the Committee for Historic Preservation (CHP.) At their July meeting the CHP denied demolition permits to the owners of a Collett-built Tudor home at 11 Carstensan Road and to local builder Matt Miller who applied to demolish an arts and crafts style home at 1023 Post Road. Both have filed appeals and their cases will be considered on September 24 at 6:30 in Rutherford Hall on the second floor of Village Hall.
