What is the truth about home sales in Greenacres? Are they suffering from the uncertainty about the future of the Greenacres Elementary School? A few homeowners and agents have expressed concerns but so far, the data doesn't support the claim that homes are not selling. 

We asked local realtor Anne Moretti for the sales figures and here is what she shared. It turns out that the number of homes sold in Greenacres for the past 12 months rose 32% from the same time period the year before. Moretti says that the demand for homes priced below $2 million is strong – with sellers often receiving multiple offers for houses in that price range. However, she says that the market for homes priced above $2 million has been more challenging in Scarsdale and throughout Greenacres. In that same time period, home sales in Scarsdale overall rose 13% from 226 from June '15 to June '16 to 256 sales in the next 12 month timeframe.  So the increase in Greenacres outstripped the increase in total Scarsdale sales.

Anecdotally some sellers in Greenacres have reported that buyers are asking not to see homes in Greenacres when they learn that the school might undergo a two and half year renovation with the kids inside the school. But the effect of that news might not be showing up in the numbers as yet.
