Santa had no luck with the weather for his trip to Scarsdale Village on Friday December 6 for the downtown tree lighting sponsored by the Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce. A cold rain soaked parents, children and local officials – but made the free s'mores, black and white cookies and hot chocolate supplied by Lange's taste that much better. Christmas carolers from Hoff-Barthelson Music School were on hand to entertain the crowd as they awaited Santa. Plus Scarsdale Mayor Bob Steves, newly elected County Legislator Ben Boykin, Lewis Arlt and Caroline Stevens of the Chamber were on hand to greet Santa who was conveyed to the scene in a fire vehicle rather than a sled. Throngs of excited kids lined up to pose for a photo with Santa, to tell him what was on their Christmas gift lists and to get a free candy cane from Imagine Candy.
