Here's a recycling tip:
The ONLY glass items that can be put into commingled recycling are bottles and jars
Glass bottles and jars are the only glass items that can be placed into commingled recycling. Any other items made of glass--including vases, drinking glasses, baking dishes, plates, measuring cups and lightbulbs--cannot go into the recycling bin. These items have chemical compositions and melting points that are different from jars and bottles. When they are mixed with glass bottles and jars during the recycling process they weaken the new recycled glass thereby contaminating the entire process.
Any glass household items that are in good condition can be brought to Scarsdale's Recycling Center (110 Secor Road, open Mon-Sat 8am-3pm) and placed in the Take It or Leave It shed. They will find a new home. Questions? Email composting@scarsdale.gov
