Scardale Middle School math teacher Steven Weiss announced that for the sixth year in a row, Scarsdale took first place at the Westchester/Putnam Mathcounts competition on February 6, 2016. Sixteen schools and over a hundred kids participated. In an unprecedented feat, the students who made up the four-person team placed first through fourth individually. When including the six individual competitors, Scarsdale placed seven students out of the top twelve. These twelve participate in a buzzer competition won by Popham student Zachary Wang. Butler student Eric Wei was the top scorer on the written portion for the second year in a row.
