Scarsdale Library Offers Free Passes to Popular Museums

The Paley Center and the Stamford Museum and Nature Center are new additions to the Scarsdale Public Library's program that provides free museum admission passes. There are now 15 area museums in the program, which are sponsored by the Friends of the Scarsdale Library.

Scarsdale resident cardholders 18 or older without outstanding fines or overdue items can borrow a pass that provides admission for up to four family members for a specific museum for three days. The number of people permitted on each pass varies by museum.

The Stamford Museum and Nature Center, located in Stamford, Ct., is an art, history, nature, and agricultural sciences museum. The property covers 118 acres beginning about half a mile north of the Merritt Parkway. The Paley Center in Manhattan has a permanent media collection containing nearly 150,000 television and radio programs and advertisements.stamford.museum.nature.center.01
"The museum pass program has been very popular and we are happy to be able to add the Stamford Museum and Nature Center and the Paley Center," said Elizabeth Bermel, library director. "In the first 11 months of our fiscal year, 703 passes were issued, an increase of 20 percent over the previous year. Our thanks to the Friends of the Scarsdale Library for their continuing support of this program."

Passes may be reserved online on the library website, www.scarsdalelibrary.org, or by calling the Reference Desk up to one month in advance. Cardholders can print out a confirmation sheet to bring to the library when picking up the pass. The pass is available at the Reference Desk on the day before the visit and must be returned the day after it expires. A fine of $10 a day will be charged for each day late or if it is returned in the book drop. The cardholder will be charged the full cost for a lost pass.paley center
