The Photography of Corky Lee at Scarsdale Library (Sun. 23 Jun, 2024 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm)
Come to the Scarsdale Library on Sunday June 23, 2024 to celebrate the life and work of Corky Lee who captured and explored the nuances and richness of Asian American life in the United States through his photographs. He described his life mission as a campaign to “Change America one photograph at a time,” to correct historical inaccuracies, fight stereotypes, injustice & celebrate the everyday struggles and accomplishments of AAPI communities. Active from the 1970s through to his death during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee was present to document key events in Asian American history and to advocate for change and equality in New York City.
In partnership with OCA-WHV and the Corky Lee Estate, examples of Lee's photography will be present in exhibition during a talk on his life and achievements.
Copies of the book Corky Lee's Asian America: Fifty Years of Photographic Justice will be available to purchase after the event. Refreshments will be served.

The Unlikely Story Of The Star Spangled Banner (Mon. 24 Jun, 2024 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)
The Unlikely Story Of The Star Spangled Banner - Monday, June 24, 2:00 PM at Scarsdale Library
Scarsdale local Marc Ferris, musician and author of Star Spangled Banner: The Unlikely Story of America's National Anthem, will enliven the Scott Room with a fascinating look at the patriotic songs that have symbolized America. From the writing of the poem "Defence of Fort M'Henry" by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812, the lyrics and its later accompanying tune made a winding, unlikely journey to being adopted by Congress in 1931 - more than 100 years later - as the official national anthem. With plenty of patriotic music and storytelling charm, you'll walk away with a new appreciation for the musical heritage of America.

Friday Night Softball at Edgewood (Fri. 28 Jun, 2024 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm)
Friday Night Softball At Edgewood!
Friday nights, 6:30pm, June through Labor Day, Edgewood #1 Field.
Come join a great local 50-year old tradition – Edgewood Softball! There has been a Friday night pickup softball game at Edgewood since the 1970s with roots going back to an adult CYO league in the 1960s. We play at Edgewood on Friday nights starting at 6:30 beginning in late June and running through to Labor Day weekend. Men and women over 16 are invited. No one is turned away. Dads, moms, college kids home for the summer, high school students, visiting cousins, and anyone free on Friday evenings who just wants to have fun and play softball are welcome. It is all-inclusive and very friendly. All skill ranges are welcome. We supply the bats, the balls, and have extra gloves for anyone who needs one. Whoever comes plays! The season continues until Labor Day, so if you can’t come until mid-to-late July or even August, come then – you will be welcome! Enjoy this wonderful Scarsdale tradition - an old-time friendly pickup softball at Edgewood. No invitations are needed, but if you want more information or want to be put on our email list for weekly reminders, contact Sean Cover by email at spcover@outlook.com or by phone at at (914) 325-5371.
