Scarsdale native Nancy Shaw Chochrek has returned to Houlihan Lawrence in Scarsdale as Branch Manager. She has 17 years of experience in the industry and most recently spent 15 months as the Associate Manager at William Raveis. She is a lawyer and licensed associate real estate broker.

Chochrek attended the Scarsdale Schools from nursery school, to Heathcote, to the Junior High School (as it was then called) and graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1981. She attended Brown University and the London School of Economics. She graduated cum laude from Boston College Law School in 1988 and worked as a lawyer in Chicago for 12 years, specializing in appellate work, before returning to Westchester to launch her career in real estate, teaming up with her mother Joan Shaw, who was one of the owners of Julia B. Fee. She lives in White Plains with her husband, and three children. Two are in college and one is a 9th grader at White Plains High School. She says, “I went from rooting for the Raiders back in high school to cheering on the Tigers on the playing fields and at the ice rinks.”

About her new postion, Chochrek said, “I love being back home at Houlihan Lawrence with so many of the people who mentored me when I first started selling real estate in the spring of 2001. I look forward to mentoring our newer agents. This is an amazing team.”

She continued, “Having grown up in Scarsdale, I understand what a special community this is and why people want to live here. So many of my high school classmates moved back here - the schools, the commute, the pool, the charming Village center. It's hard to top Scarsdale. 1 Hickory LaneAre the prices of historic homes on the decline? Check out this sale. 1 Hickory Lane, a historic 8,643 square foot Tudor home on 1.6 acres with a stunning pool sold for only $2.3 mm this week. The house is across the street from the Scarsdale Library and was designed by noted architect Lewis Bowman. Why did it sit on the market? The catch might be it’s assessed value and taxes. The home is assessed at $6,275,000 almost $4 million more than the sale price, with real estate taxes of $188,391.

In May 2017, the home across the street, 2 Hickory Lane, which is a 6,108 square foot Colonial on 1.1 acres sold for over a million dollars more, at $3,475,000.

Also in the news this week, are four more homes under consideration for approval for Basement with barrel ceiling at 1 Hickory Lanedemolition by the Committee for Historic Preservation on Tuesday May 29 at 8 pm. Pending their approval, these four homes will be taken down:
