Raiders Lacrosse Team Falls to White Plains and Mamaroneck

PatrizioScarsdale Boys Lacrosse have had an exhilarating season. With a 7-0 start to the season the boys were met with a tough upset as they fell to White Plains on Thursday 4/14. The team faced off against rival Mamaroneck on Tuesday 4/19, and suffered another loss despite strong preparation.

The game started with a goal in the opening minutesBernstein by Junior William Cabrera, 1,0 Scarsdale. Mamaroneck quickly returned with a goal to tie the game. A goal by Freshman Andrew Bernstein returned the lead to the Raiders and Cabrera's reach around goal made it 3-1 before the end of the quarter. Halfway through the second quarter Mamaroneck closed the lead to 3-2, then 3-3. Mamaroneck scored again to take the lead for the first time of the game, now 4-3. Mamaroneck added to their lead twice more to make it 6-3. Sophomore Rob Rolfe responded to make it 6-4, then 6-5 with a goal coming from Junior Captain Cooper Schneider before the end of the quarter, and another at the start of the 3rd quarter.

Schneider completed his hat trick and returned the lead to the Raiders. Senior Captain Andre Cutrim added his first as the Raiders took a 8-6 lead before Mamaroneck returned to close the lead. Cabrera then gave the two goal lead back to the Raiders but Mamaroneck countered and tied the game up, then taking the lead. Adding another two before the end of the 3rd quarter, Mamaroneck lead 12-9. Mamaroneck scored again at the begging of the 4th quarter, but Cabrera ended the Raider's scoring drought as he added a quick goal. Mamaroneck responded with another two to make it 15-10 as Rolfe came back with a goal for the Raiders. Mamaroneck retaliated with three to quell the Raider's momentum, 18-11. Bernstein and Rolfe added two but it was too late, final score 18-13, Mamaroneck.

schneiderScarsdale, now 7-2, will look to end their two game losing streak with games at Eastchester on Thursday 4/21, and Tappan Zee on Saturday 4/23. The Raiders seek to gain back their momentum in the latter part of the season as they edge towards playoffs."
