Scams
On Oct. 12, a Drake Road resident advised she had been scammed out of $6,100 in gift cards.
On Oct. 12, a Heathcote Road woman advised she had been scammed out of $300 on the Scarsdale Social site.
Dispute
Police intervened in a dispute between a woman and an employee of a package pickup location on Scarsdale Avenue Oct. 9. The employee would not release the package to the woman because she did not have a photo ID. Police assisted her and convinced the employee to accept an insurance card as proof of ID in order to release the package.
Cars and roadways
On Oct. 9, police put traffic cones around a sewer where the grate cap fell inside on Weaver Street, while waiting for firefighters who arrived to retrieve and replace the grate.
On Oct. 9, police issued summonses to a 44-year-old Bronx driver found driving on Sherbrooke Road with a suspended registration.
Police advised the driver of a construction vehicle to relocate the parked vehicle because a resident was having trouble accessing her driveway on Hampton Road Oct. 11.
On Oct. 12, police issued summonses to a 28-year-old White Plains driver found driving on Post Road with a suspended registration and an insurance violation.
On Oct. 13, police re-positioned a loose sewer cap on Heathcote Road.
Construction equipment was blocking a stop sign on Fox Meadow Road Oct. 13. Police put up a portable stop sign to assist.
Police notified Verizon and Con Edison about low-hanging wires on Highland Way Oct. 14.
On Oct. 12, police issued summonses to a 29-year-old Bronx driver found driving on Heathcote Road with registration, licensing and insurance violations, as well as missing and obscured license plates.
Village code
Police mailed a summons to the owner of a business who posted an advertising sign in the Village right of way on Heathcote Road Oct. 10.
Police advised excavation workers about proper work times on White Birch Lane Oct. 14.
Police advised the manager of Fenway Golf Club to lower the volume of music being played at a party after a resident complained Oct. 14.
Lost and found
A license plate was found on Post Road Oct. 9. Police vouched it for safekeeping.
Firefighters
On Oct. 10, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of an indoor gas odor in a Brewster Road house. The Con Edison technician verified a leak from an appliance, isolated it and advised contacting a plumber to perform a repair. Firefighters assisted with ventilation.
On Oct. 11, firefighters helped pump water from a Haverford Road basement.
On Oct.11, firefighters helped a Penn Blvd resident change a smoke detector battery.
On Oct. 14, firefighters partially extinguished a fireplace fire with a water can and opened a closed flue at a home on Heathcote Road. Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke from the house. The house was evaluated for carbon monoxide with negative results. Firefighters educated the resident on proper function of the flue and discussed the importance of flue and chimney inspection and maintenance.
