Photo by Shelley GrafsteinBurglary: On Feb. 3, police responded to a burglar alarm in a Fayette Rd. house. They saw a damaged front window and signs that someone had entered the house that way. At least five items were stolen, with a combined value of over $3,000.
Packages
On Feb. 3, a Windsor Lane resident reported receiving unknown packages at her address. Patrol arrived and spoke with the resident, who advised that she had been receiving packages to her residence that were not ordered by her. Additionally, the packages coincided with fraudulent charges to her credit card. She said that she took measures to report the fraudulent charges, and her funds were recouped. She was concerned that an individual was utilizing UPS Premier Choice to view live updates of package deliveries to her address and arriving to retrieve those packages. Patrol advised her to contact UPS to have Premier Choice removed from her address.
Identity theft
On Feb. 4, a Richelieu Rd. woman reported that someone opened a credit card in her name.
On Feb. 6, a Black Birch Lane man reported that a check was previously stolen from him and washed. A similar occurrence happened to the man last July.
Help
On Feb. 2, police called Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a homeless man walking down Brewster Rd. The man said he had just gotten released from the hospital the day before. SVAC drove him back to the hospital for additional treatment.
Harassment
A Fairview Court woman reported that a person was engaging in unwanted communications with her by email and phone calls Feb. 5. Police helped the woman draft and send an email stating that the communication was unwanted.
On Feb. 5, a Dickel Rd. resident reported receiving unwanted calls from a woman whom she had dated in the past. She did not respond to any of the calls.
Injury
A man reported falling onto the tracks at Scarsdale train station, cutting his finger, Feb. 7. Police stood by for medical assistance.
Cars and roadways
On Feb. 2, police called a tow for a disabled car on Post Rd.
Patrol picked up a jacket from Post Rd. Feb. 3.
Police cleared a fallen wire from Overhill Rd. Feb. 4.
A Nelson Rd. man was shoveling snow into the street Feb. 5. Police asked him to remove the snow from the roadway.

A steam pipe broke inside Fox Meadow School and was leaking steam into the school during a play performance on Feb. 8. The building was evacuated and the firefighters shut the affected pipes and advised servicing the system.

Police Report: Burglary, Bronx Driver Arrested for Drunk Driving, Jewelry Store Robbed

Burgalry: Burglars entered a home on Fayette Road at 4:50 am on February 3 while the homeowners were asleep in the house. They were awoken and called the police who found a damaged front window and signs of entry. Police reported that a grand larceny occured, with over $3,000 in property stolen or damaged.
Arrested: On Jan. 30, a car accident occurred off Bypass and Weaver St., involving a car that crashed off the road. Police arrived and arrested the driver — Reshma Manger, 28, of the Bronx — for driving while intoxicated, refusal to take a breath test, moving unsafely from a lane, and failing to keep right on a two-lane road. She was booked and processed at the police station and released on her own recognizance with a future appearance ticket for Village Justice Court.
Jewelry store robbed
Policed assisted New Rochelle police with the investigation of a reported jewelry store robbery on Wilmot Rd on Jan. 28. The suspects — three middle Eastern men, two wearing black jackets and one wearing a maroon jacket — stole approximately $20,000 worth of jewelry from the location. They did not display a weapon.
Harassment
A Walworth Ave. woman reported that her brother’s ex was sending texts to her that made her feel uncomfortable since the texts involved making statements regarding her family. She asked the ex to stop contacting her, and she blocked the ex.
Homeless
A possibly homeless person was reported to be sleeping in the trash room of a Christie Place building Jan. 26. The person left before police arrived.
On Jan. 28, a possibly homeless person was reported to be sleeping in the trash room of a Christie Place building. The person told police he was just charging his phone. He claimed he was not homeless and left the area.
Snow
A Post Rd. woman called police to ask for help since her husband was stuck in his car in deep snow Jan. 27. Police and a neighbor helped shovel the car free from the snow, and the husband was able to exit the car.
A delivery driver got stuck on ice and snow on a Cushman Rd. Driveway Jan. 31.
Suspicious
On Feb. 1, a caller reported that Patrol spoke to calling parties who stated an unknown white male possibly 20 years of age in the front passenger seat of a black sedan or SUV displayed a bag of 'Doritos' and asked if the parties wanted it as the vehicle was passing by on Spencer Place. The vehicle did not stop nor did the unknown male attempt to lure the parties to the vehicle. The parties stated they got nervous and called police. Patrol instructed the parties to return home and canvassed the area which yielded negative results.
Help
Police checked a vacant Boulevard Property and found everything to be in good order Jan. 26.
A pipe burst on Colonial Rd. Jan. 28. Police contacted the water department to turn off water service. Police also notified the homeowner.
Domestic matter
An Edgewood woman reported that her husband kept calling the house phone, not leaving any messages, which she found to be bothersome Feb. 1. Police called the husband and advised him to refrain from calling.

Eastchester police and Scarsdale police dispersed noisy kids from Sprague Road. Jan. 30.
Police removed an illegally posted advertising sign from Palmer Ave. and Mamaroneck Road Police issued a summons to the business.
Cars and roadways
On Jan. 28, the highway department reported that they were in possession of a broken parking meter head.

Police picked up a lost dog on Post Rd. and reunited it with its Sharon Lane owner Jan. 27.

On Jan. 27, a Crossway resident reported that he lost his registration and two license plates following a total loss collision.
On Jan. 28, a resident reported losing a brown Coach wallet with some cash and identifying documents somewhere in the Village.
A driver reported losing license plates somewhere in the Village Jan. 30.
Firefighters
On Jan. 26, firefighters were dispatched to Wildwood Rd. for a car fire. The driver opened the hood and shoveled snow onto the fire to extinguish it before firefighters arrived. Firefighters stood by for a tow and disconnected the battery.
Carbon monoxide accumulated in an Innes Rd. house due to a misfiring furnace. Con Edison red-tagged the furnace. Firefighters ventilated and advised to call a plumber.
On Jan. 26, a burst pipe allowed five inches of water to accumulate in a Dickel Rd. basement. Firefighters isolated the pipe to stop the flow of water and pumped water from the basement.
On Jan. 26, firefighters isolated a burst pipe in a Vanderbilt Road house.
A heavy gas odor was detected on Eastwoods Lane Jan. 27. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.
Firefighters isolated a burst pipe in a Broadmoor Rd. house Jan. 27. The resident was advised to call a plumber.
On Jan. 28, firefighters responded to a reported train fire at the Scarsdale train station. On arrival, they found a northbound train stopped at the station, with smoke billowing from underneath one train car located in the middle of the line. The train was evacuated of passengers by Metro North employees. Firefighters made contact with Metro North employees. Metro North employees and Incident command put a hold on traffic, and power was disconnected on both tracks. Firefighters established a water source and stretched a dry 1.75 handline to the train car. Once power was confirmed off, firefighters made their way onto the tracks to investigate what was burning underneath the train. Metro North employees advised, they believed it was a power storage unit burning underneath the train. Firefighters used three water extinguishers to extinguish any visible fire. Once fire was extinguished the scene was handed over to Metro North personnel.
Ice and snow that had accumulated on a Brewster Road roof was causing water to enter the house and leak through a light fixture Jan. 28. Firefighters assisted by shutting power to the fixture, capping wires and helping to remove snow from the roof.
On Jan. 28, a sprinkler malfunctioned in an East Parkway business. Firefighters isolated the sprinkler and advised repair.
Firefighters isolated a burst pipe in a Griffen Avenue house's garage Jan. 29. The resident was advised to call a plumber.
Wayside Lane residents started a fire in their fireplace, but the flue was only partially open; so smoke accumulated inside the residence Jan. 29. Firefighters put out the fire, opened the flue and ventilated.

On Jan. 31, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a basement gas leak from a faulty boiler in a Garden Road house.

On Jan. 31, firefighters were dispatched to a Mayflower Road house for a reported oil fire in a fireplace. They encountered a moderate smoke condition on the second level due to the resident mixing an ethanol-based fuel with paraffin wax in their ethanol fireplace burner. The fire was allowed to self-extinguish and firefighters checked that there was no extension or hazard related to the mixing of the fuels. Firefighters then assisted with ventilating the structure, utilizing a battery powered fan. Firefighters ensured the unit was adequately cooled and advised the resident to clean and inspect the unit prior to reuse.
On Jan. 31, firefighters were dispatched to Penn Road for a reported transformer fire. Firefighters found evidence of a transformer fire on a utility pole. The top of the utility pole and side of the transformer had charring damage. There was no observable damage to any of the power lines above or below the transformer, and there wasn't any liquid leaking from the transformer. All homes in the direct vicinity appeared to have power. Con Edison was notified for a response

Police Report: Man Wanted by Scarsdale Police for Stealing $17,500 in September Arrested Again

Photo by Shelley GrafsteinArrested: On Jan. 23, a man wanted by Scarsdale police, with an active warrant, was apprehended by MTA police and brought to headquarters. The man’s name is Fardin Talha, 23, of Queens Village. He was charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer and third-degree grand larceny involving the theft for $17,500 from a Birchall Dr. resident in September 2025. Talha was previously arrested on Nov. 19, 2025, but a bench warrant was issued when he failed to appear in court for a later scheduled appearance. According to Scarsdale Police Chief Steven Del Bene, who elaborated on the original event: “Cash was stolen from a local resident in a scam commonly known as a "Grandparent Scam." This suspect convinced a resident to withdraw money from their bank and physically hand it over to them at their residence. When this resident became suspicious, they took a picture of the suspect and came to police headquarters to report the incident, which really helped our investigation. Another factor that led to a successful outcome was the use of our LPR system, which allowed us to obtain vital information regarding the suspect’s vehicle. Our detectives, working in conjunction with both local and federal agencies, were able to effectively arrest the individual involved.”
Stolen
On Jan. 19, a Secor Rd. resident reported that workers stole two iPads from her house Jan. 15.
A Richbell Rd. resident reported that a package was stolen from his house after it was delivered and signed for by an unknown person Jan. 20. The house has been vacant for two months, the owner said.
A Scarsdale Ave. business owner reported money missing from the business Jan. 23.
Airbnb scam
On Jan. 19, a man reported that he booked a Popham Rd. apartment through Airbnb. He arrived that day and expected to be let in by the host named “Rosie”. He called her and she said she would not be letting him into the apartment. The door concierge said at least seven people had experienced the same situation. Airbnb said it would conduct an investigation. On Jan. 24, a woman reported a similar experience with an Airbnb listing for a Popham Rd. apartment, possibly the same one.
Fraud and identity theft
On Jan. 20, a Brewster Rd. man reported being the victim of financial fraud. He said he was contacted by two men stating his account had been compromised. They requested that he send $4,966.98 and $5,000 to them via Zelle and Apple Pay in order to verify his account. He did this before realizing it was a scam. He needed a police report in order to request a refund follow-up with the bank.
The Scarsdale School District reported receiving a fraudulent invoice for consulting services that were never received Jan. 21. The bookkeeper realized it was a scam and did not pay the fraudulent invoice.
On Jan. 21, a Hampton Rd. woman reported that someone used her social security number to fraudulently open credit card accounts in her name in November.
Suspicious
A Heathcote Rd. store employee felt a customer was suspicious because he was acting “weird – asking strange questions about the store and jewelry” Jan. 20. Extra ridebys were requested.
A camera was reported near the playground of Edgewood School Jan. 22. Patrol observed a black bock attached to the pole at the location. The box might be in regard to a traffic study. Patrol informed command staff about the box. They will look into the purpose of the box and who placed it.
On Jan. 22, employees of a Boniface Circle store said an erratic female customer on a scooter made them uncomfortable, so they closed the store. Patrol advised the individual, who was currently on a public sidewalk, of the described complaint. She stated she was waiting for a taxi. She refused any further police assistance and refused medical attention.
Snow
A Chase Rd. business was instructed to remove snow from the sidewalk Jan. 19.

Police stood by while a son retrieved personal property from his father’s house on Copper Beech Lane Jan. 23.
An Overhill Rd caller reported his parents were not giving him his credit cards and were kicking him out of the house Jan. 23. Police stood by while the caller retrieved personal property from the house.
On Jan. 24, a Copper Beech Lane woman reported receiving an alarming email from her stepson in which he stated that he hopes she “stays petrified.”
Police conducted a welfare check of a Greenacres Ave. man at the request of a concerned daughter Jan. 25.
Homeless
A homeless man was twice reported to be in the garbage room of the Christie Place garage Jan. 26. The second time, he apologized and said he would be leaving soon. He said he wanted to use an outlet to charge his phone.
Pedestrian struck
On Jan 22, around 6:45 p.m., a resident reported that he had been struck by a car while walking home and crossing the intersection of Popham Rd. and Scarsdale Ave. The driver stopped and asked about his condition. He said he was OK and continued walking home.
Cars and roadways
A disabled car was towed from Post Rd. Jan. 19.
A parked Porsche was left running on East Parkway Jan. 20. Police contacted the owner who said he would be back to the car in 20 minutes.
Verizon was notified about low-hanging wires on Church Lane Jan. 22.
An overnight parking summons was issued to the owner of a gray Mazda illegally parked on Brambach Rd. Jan. 24.
A parked car on Freightway Rd. was found to have an expired registration and inspection. Police issued summonses for the violations.

Once inside, police were asked to assist in checking the house due to a condition that was in extreme disarray. A safety check for any occupancy issues was conducted. A large stack of unopened mail was discovered. Food supplies in the kitchen appeared to have been accessed by animals. Con Edison was requested to shut off utilities due to the home being abandoned.
On Jan. 20, firefighters assisted at a Hampton Rd. house with a water leak from a second-floor laundry room leaking water into first-floor office. The detector was removed in the office, and the alarm was reset. Firefighters advised the resident to call the restoration company to mitigate water damage. The breaker was shut to the ceiling lighting that had water exposure.
Improper use of equipment inside a Brewster Rd. house caused carbon monoxide levels to rise Jan. 21. Firefighters removed the equipment from the house and ventilated.

On Jan. 24, a Ferncliff Rd. family returned from vacation and found themselves locked out of their house. Firefighters helped them gain entry.
A snow plow struck a car on Weaver St. Jan. 25. Firefighters assisted. The occupant of the car was taken to the hospital by Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
On Jan. 25, an Olmsted Rd. resident tried to start a fire in the fireplace, but the flue was closed. This caused smoke to enter the residence.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the residence.
Snow blocked exhaust vents at a Carstensen Rd. house, causing a boiler to malfunction and allowing carbon monoxide to enter the residence Jan. 25. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison, and the boiler was shut down.
A Sprague Rd. resident reported no heat in the house Jan. 25. Firefighters were unable to start the boiler and advised to call for service.

Police Report: Man Arrested for Attacking Woman and Water Leak on Leatherstocking Lane

Arrested: On Jan. 14, police received reports of an elderly Indian man attacking a woman who appeared to be his girlfriend on Mamaroneck Rd. Police went to the scene and arrested the man. No further information was provided.

On Jan. 17, a Brite Ave. resident reported that a package was stolen overnight.

On Jan. 13, a Mamaroneck Rd. resident reported being the victim of check fraud.

A private investigator involved with a medical lawsuit against a Palmer Ave. resident arrived at the resident’s house and was taking photos Jan. 13. Police advised her to refrain from visiting the house and to conduct the case through appropriate legal channels.

On Jan. 12, a Rock Creek Lane resident reported that someone threw a rock through a window at her house, causing a five-inch hole in the storm window.

Packages stolen: Three packages containing sneakers, a women’s dress pants and a fan were stolen from a River Rd. porch after delivery Jan. 6.
Mail stolen
A Brookby Rd. resident showed police doorbell camera footage Jan. 8 that showed a mail carrier stealing mail from the resident’s mailbox. The stolen mail contained a check written for $2,500 which was stolen and fraudulently cashed. The resident was advised to report the incident to postal police.
Fraud
On Jan. 8, an Overhill Rd. resident reported he ordered audio equipment from someone and sent a $7,000 payment via PayPal but never received the equipment.
On Jan. 11, a Farragut Rd. woman reported that someone altered at least eight checks that her mother sent out and approximately $4,805 in funds were stolen because of the fraud.
Suspicious
On Jan. 9, an Innes Rd. resident showed police suspicious doorbell camera footage documenting that a white male measured the front door with a tape measure and immediately left the scene in a gray pick up truck. The listed complainant a report for documentation purposes.
A Depot Place store employee requested police help due to a suspicious online order that was cancelled Jan. 11. Two individuals entered the store attempting to pick up high-end merchandise from the order. They were told that they could only pay cash, and they ended up only purchasing cheaper merchandise instead.
Doorbells
Youth at a Pinecrest Rd. Party were engaging in “ding-dong-ditch” Jan. 9. The party host told the kids to not engage in such activity and advised them to call their parents to be picked up.

A pedestrian was struck by a car at Boulevard and Gaylor Rd. Jan. 5. The pedestrian was in the crosswalk, and she reported that her foot was run over. It was 5:30 p.m.

The highway department was advised about a low-hanging tree branch over Post and Olmsted Rd. Jan. 7.
Verizon was notified about a fallen wire on Palmer Ave. Jan. 7.
The highway department was notified about a pothole at Popham Rd. Jan. 7.
Verizon was notified about a loose wire on Brite Ave. Jan. 8 and 11.
Police moved a damaged crosswalk sign from Heathcote Rd. Jan.10 and notified the higway department.
Police put traffic cones in a Mamaroneck Rd. pothole and notified the highway department Jan. 11.
One car accident was officially reported in the Village this week.
Lost and found
A New York State driver’s license was found on Mamaroneck Rd. Jan. 8. Police informed the owner who came to headquarters to pick it up.
Village code
Police spoke to a Brite Ave. party host after neighbors complained of noise Jan. 10. The party was breaking up, and the host apologized for the noise.
Police dispersed noisy youth from Fayette Rd. Jan. 10. Evidence of underage drinking was observed, as youth dispersed from the scene.
Police removed an illegally posted sign from Mamaroneck Rd. Jan. 11. A summons was issued.
Firefighters
On Jan. 11, firefighters responded to a report of smoke in a structure, possibly from the fireplace, on Obry Drive. On arrival, firefighters were directed to the family room located above the garage, where the fireplace was located. They encountered a smoke condition in the family room with smoke pushing out of the floor adjacent to the fireplace. They evacuated the family, including a dog. They stretched a 1.75" handline to the garage located below the fireplace. In the fire room, they opened up the floor adjacent to the fireplace where there was active fire. They extinguished the active fire and checked for extension. They need to remove the stone hearth and adjacent wall coverings to locate the floor joists involved in fire. They shut the main circuit breakers on two panels in the basement. Con Ed advised the homeowner to have the system inspected by a certified electrician prior to restoring power. The Scarsdale Cause and Origin Team responded and commenced an investigation. The cause of the fire was accidental, due to embers that migrated between the firebox and hearth during normal use of the fireplace. One firefighter was transported to White Plains Hospital for right shoulder and right knee injuries caused by a slip and fall on ice.
