Arrested: On Jan. 14, police received reports of an elderly Indian man attacking a woman who appeared to be his girlfriend on Mamaroneck Rd. Police went to the scene and arrested the man. No further information was provided.

On Jan. 17, a Brite Ave. resident reported that a package was stolen overnight.

On Jan. 13, a Mamaroneck Rd. resident reported being the victim of check fraud.
Help
A private investigator involved with a medical lawsuit against a Palmer Ave. resident arrived at the resident’s house and was taking photos Jan. 13. Police advised her to refrain from visiting the house and to conduct the case through appropriate legal channels.
Police conducted a welfare check of an Edgewood wife Jan. 17. She was OK.
Broken window
On Jan. 12, a Rock Creek Lane resident reported that someone threw a rock through a window at her house, causing a five-inch hole in the storm window.
Cars and roadways
Police issued a summons to the driver of a car that was improperly parked on Carstensen Rd. Jan. 12.
Verizon was notified about low-hanging wires on Mamaroneck Rd. and Woods Lane Jan. 13.
A primary wire was lying on the ground at Penn Blvd. Jan. 14. Police notified Con Edison and blocked off the area for safety.
Verizon was notified about low-hanging wires on Brown Rd. and Woods Lane Jan. 15.
On Jan. 16, a Mamaroneck Rd. resident reported that a car hit a stop sign and drove onto his property around 12:30 p.m.
A vehicle struck and broke a fire hydrant on Leatherstocking Lane Jan. 17. (A reader reports that water was running out of the hydrant for several days before the leak was fixed.
Police conducted several traffic stops this week and issued summonses to drivers for violations including licensing, registration and insurance violations.

Pedestrian Hit and a Fire on Obry Drive

Packages stolen: Three packages containing sneakers, a women’s dress pants and a fan were stolen from a River Rd. porch after delivery Jan. 6.
Mail stolen
A Brookby Rd. resident showed police doorbell camera footage Jan. 8 that showed a mail carrier stealing mail from the resident’s mailbox. The stolen mail contained a check written for $2,500 which was stolen and fraudulently cashed. The resident was advised to report the incident to postal police.
Fraud
On Jan. 8, an Overhill Rd. resident reported he ordered audio equipment from someone and sent a $7,000 payment via PayPal but never received the equipment.
On Jan. 11, a Farragut Rd. woman reported that someone altered at least eight checks that her mother sent out and approximately $4,805 in funds were stolen because of the fraud.
Suspicious
On Jan. 9, an Innes Rd. resident showed police suspicious doorbell camera footage documenting that a white male measured the front door with a tape measure and immediately left the scene in a gray pick up truck. The listed complainant a report for documentation purposes.
A Depot Place store employee requested police help due to a suspicious online order that was cancelled Jan. 11. Two individuals entered the store attempting to pick up high-end merchandise from the order. They were told that they could only pay cash, and they ended up only purchasing cheaper merchandise instead.
Doorbells
Youth at a Pinecrest Rd. Party were engaging in “ding-dong-ditch” Jan. 9. The party host told the kids to not engage in such activity and advised them to call their parents to be picked up.
Pedestrian struck
A pedestrian was struck by a car at Boulevard and Gaylor Rd. Jan. 5. The pedestrian was in the crosswalk, and she reported that her foot was run over. It was 5:30 p.m.

The highway department was advised about a low-hanging tree branch over Post and Olmsted Rd. Jan. 7.
Verizon was notified about a fallen wire on Palmer Ave. Jan. 7.
The highway department was notified about a pothole at Popham Rd. Jan. 7.
Verizon was notified about a loose wire on Brite Ave. Jan. 8 and 11.
Police moved a damaged crosswalk sign from Heathcote Rd. Jan.10 and notified the higway department.
Police put traffic cones in a Mamaroneck Rd. pothole and notified the highway department Jan. 11.

Lost and found
A New York State driver’s license was found on Mamaroneck Rd. Jan. 8. Police informed the owner who came to headquarters to pick it up.
Village code
Police spoke to a Brite Ave. party host after neighbors complained of noise Jan. 10. The party was breaking up, and the host apologized for the noise.
Police dispersed noisy youth from Fayette Rd. Jan. 10. Evidence of underage drinking was observed, as youth dispersed from the scene.
Police removed an illegally posted sign from Mamaroneck Rd. Jan. 11. A summons was issued.
Firefighters
On Jan. 11, firefighters responded to a report of smoke in a structure, possibly from the fireplace, on Obry Drive. On arrival, firefighters were directed to the family room located above the garage, where the fireplace was located. They encountered a smoke condition in the family room with smoke pushing out of the floor adjacent to the fireplace. They evacuated the family, including a dog. They stretched a 1.75" handline to the garage located below the fireplace. In the fire room, they opened up the floor adjacent to the fireplace where there was active fire. They extinguished the active fire and checked for extension. They need to remove the stone hearth and adjacent wall coverings to locate the floor joists involved in fire. They shut the main circuit breakers on two panels in the basement. Con Ed advised the homeowner to have the system inspected by a certified electrician prior to restoring power. The Scarsdale Cause and Origin Team responded and commenced an investigation. The cause of the fire was accidental, due to embers that migrated between the firebox and hearth during normal use of the fireplace. One firefighter was transported to White Plains Hospital for right shoulder and right knee injuries caused by a slip and fall on ice.

Police Report Egged and Axed in Edgewood Home, Pups Missing on Mamaroneck Road

Stolen: A larceny was reported on Elm Rd. Jan. 2.
Identity theft
On Dec. 29, a Cushman Rd. resident reported receiving in the mail fraudulent tax documents, bank documents and credit cards in an unknown person’s name using his address. He suspected identity theft.
On Jan. 4, a White Birch Lane man reported that someone fraudulently attempted to use his identity. The man said he was contacted by a Webster Bank fraud analyst on Dec. 29, and spoke to the individual the next day while the man was in California. The analyst informed him that an unknown party entered a unknown Webster Bank location in Rhode Island and unsuccessfully attempted to open a business account in his name. No further information was provided, but the man’s accounts were frozen by the fraud department. The man confirmed he was not at a loss due to this incident.
Criminal mischief
A Jefferson Rd. resident reported that someone threw eggs at his house Jan. 2 in the morning. The eggs reportedly did not cause any damage. Later, around 8 p.m., the same resident reported that someone threw an axe at the door. Police spoke with the resident’s 15-year-old sone who suspected it might have been done by the new boyfriend of one of his friends. Police attempted to get in touch with an associate of the new boyfriend and advised the 15-year-old son to attempt to get contact information for the new boyfriend’s parents. No damage was caused by the incident.

An East Parkway business manager spoke to police about concerns regarding a former employee Dec. 30.
Safety
Three kids were on the ice at Duck Pond on Heathcote Rd Dec. 31. Police explained the ice could be weak and cause a hazardous condition. The kids apologized and left.
Cars and roadways
On Dec. 29, the highway department was notified about a large pothole on Crane Rd. Police placed a warning cone over it in the meantime.
A broken parking meter was found on Woodland Place Dec. 29. It was logged for repair.
A fallen sign was removed from Post Rd. Dec. 30. The highway department was notified for replacement.
Patrol notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Brite Ave. Jan. 1.
Police asked drivers to move parked cars to ease traffic flow on Madison Rd. Jan. 3.
Patrol notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Dolma Rd. Jan. 4.
A water pipe burst on Lee Rd., causing an icing condition on Lee Rd. Jan. 4. The water department was informed.
Dogs
A Mamaroneck Rd. man reported that his two German Shepherd mix puppies were missing from his property Dec. 31. Police canvassed the area but did not find the missing pups.
Village code
A caller complained of noise from an East Parkway establishment at 11:00 p.m. Dec. 29. Police did not deem the noise to be unreasonable, but police notified the manager of the establishment.
Speakers were being fixed at a Christie Place establishment, and someone complained about noise Dec. 30.
A plumbing company shut off water at a Wayside Lane address without proper permission Dec. 31. Police issued a summons.
A caller complained of noise from an East Parkway establishment at 10 p.m. Dec. 31. Staff lowered the volume.
Lost and found
Keys found on Mamaroneck Rd. were given to police for safekeeping Jan. 4.
Firefighters
On Dec. 30, firefighters helped police gain entry to a Mayflower Rd. house, to help a person who needed medical care. First aid was provided while waiting for Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Firefighters assisted Con Edison in extinguishing a fire in a tree caused by contact with a wire Dec. 30.
On Dec. 31, firefighters helped move a Village resident suffering from mobility issues.
On Dec. 31, firefighters used a fan to ventilate carbon monoxide from a garage where a car had recently been running.
An alarm in a White Birch Lane house was found to be caused by a sump pump in need of repair Dec. 31. Firefighters advised the resident to call for repair.
A pizza oven downdraft was not working properly in a a Garth Rd. restaurant, causing smoke accumulation Dec. 31. Firefighters assisted with ventilation.
A Hillview Dr. resident requested help with a microwave that was not turning off Dec. 31. The appliance turned off before firefighters arrived.
An overhead sprinkler in a Forest Lane house overheated and was causing problems Jan. 1. Firefighters disconnected the component and capped the wires, pending repair. The same thing happened again Jan. 3.
A burning plastic odor in an Olmsted Rd. house was linked to a burnt-out component in a HVAC system. Firefighters disconnected the unit and advised to call for service.
A breaker was popping in a Heathcote Rd. apartment due to a faulty cord on a vacuum cleaner Jan. 2. Firefighters disconnected the vacuum.
On Jan. 2, firefighters helped a Herkimer Rd. resident get inside their house after an accidental lockout.
Firefighters unplugged a faulty washing machine that was causing an odor in a Corell Rd. house Jan. 3. They advised servicing it.

Police Report: Trash, IT Problems, Buzzing Pipes and Cat Custody Dispute

Help: A Dolma Road resident reported that a process server was at his door, refusing to leave and allegedly threatening to break down the door Dec. 23. Police arrived on scene and stood by while the process server delivered legal documents to the resident.
A resident slipped and fell on ice while walking his dog in New Rochelle Dec. 24. Police notified New Rochelle police.
A resident walked into headquarters to report that he could not access his work email Dec. 24. He thought it was related to an issue of identity theft. Police thought it was an IT problem.
Noises
A Crawford Lane resident reported a “buzzing” sound in the house Dec. 26, possibly related to water pipes. Police notified the Water Department.
Suitcase
A suitcase containing clothing was found on the platform of the train station Dec. 24. Police notified MTA police.
Cat
A woman reported that she was attempting to drop off a cat at her ex-husband’s house in the Village, but her ex-husband was refusing to take possession of the cat Dec. 23. Police explained it was a civil matter.
Dogs
Police reunited two loose dogs with their owners on Dec. 27.
Garbage
An Edgewood School custodian reported a woman was dumping garbage in school bins, causing them to overflow Dec. 28.
License plate
A Secor Rd. man reported that he was accumulating charges on his EZ Pass account that were not related to him Dec. 26. Apparently, another car was using his license plate number. The man was currently in possession of both of his license plates.
Cars and roadways
On Dec. 24, a car was blocking a Walworth Ave. driveway. The driver was at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church. Police asked the driver’s parent to ask the driver to move the car.
Police notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Clarence Rd. Dec. 26.
Police called a tow for a car stuck in snow at Post and Fenimore roads at 3:30 a.m., Dec. 27.
Village code
Illegally posted signs were discarded from Mamaroneck Rd. Dec. 22.
Lost and found
A Village worker found a driver’s license and debit card in the Village and gave it to police who contacted a family member of the owner Dec. 22. The owner picked up the items from headquarters.

Police Report: Footprints Lead to Snow Angels on Hutchinson Avenue and Police Cut Ring Stuck on Woman's Finger

Identity theft:On Dec. 18, a 44-year-old Corell Rd. man reported that his identity had been stolen and was used to open a fraudulent credit line.
Suspicious
A Brown Rd. resident saw, via a doorbell camera, that a man rang his doorbell and walked around to the back of his house Dec. 15. Police arrived to investigate. The man was an exterminator who had arrived to check termite traps.
Political concerns
On Dec. 20, a Bradley Rd. resident reported concerning messages that he received online while messaging another person on Instagram in regard to political activism. The other person wanted the resident to repost a political photo, to which he declined, which then angered the other person. The resident was told to block the other person on social media and cease contact with him.
Help
On Dec. 20, a Madison Rd. resident reported Caller reports that he is elderly, disabled, and his stairlift is dead due to a power outage. He requested assistance with rebooting utilities. Patrol arrived on scene. The resident stated that his power connection returned earlier today, but his stair lift was no longer functioning properly. Patrol attempted to correct the issue but was unable to do so. Patrol was able to make contact with the stair lift installer and schedule an appointment for them to come at their earliest convenience and repair the lift. Additionally, patrol was able to make contact with the resident’s son to advise him of the current conditions. The resident stated that he is fully capable of living on the first floor in the interim, indicating there is a bathroom and kitchen accessible. Patrol checked the fridge for food and found it to be full and the contents up to date.
Disputes
Police responded to Palmer Ave. to mediate a dispute between an Uber driver and a fare Dec. 15. Police called a taxi for the fare.
On Dec. 19, a Brewster Rd. man called 911 to report his wife was following him around the house and pushing him. He stated he got into an argument with his wife over a broken shower door. The argument intensified, and he began to walk away from the situation, but his wife kept following him, continued yelling and shoved him once. Both parties advised they are able to separate themselves in different parts of the house to avoid further arguing.
Footprints
On Dec. 18, a Hutchinson Ave. resident reported footprints in his yard that did not belong to his family. No further signs of criminal activity were observed. Patrol responded to the location and observed two separate sets of bare feet foot prints on the exterior of the residence. The foot prints lead to portions on the yard where "snow angels" had been created. The foot prints appeared to be smaller than a size seven. The resident stated they did not create these foot prints and they did not know where they came from. No signs of criminal activity were observed. Police recommended to invest in cameras.
Doorbells
Police scolded kids for ringing doorbells on Pinecrest Rd. and running away at 8 p.m., Dec. 19. The kids apologized and left for home.
Homeless man
On Dec. 19, a homeless man was reported to be smoking marijuana on the steps to the basement of a church near Village center. Patrol responded to the location and met with employees at the location who directed patrol to the location of the complaint. Patrol spoke with the individual at the stairwell and asked him to relocate. The individual left without incident.
Civil matter
On Dec. 15, a Huntington Ave. man reported having a dispute with an appliance repair person. He said his wife called for appliance repair on Dec. 1, at which time he gave the person a check for $822.96 for ordering parts which were supposed to be ready on Dec. 6. He then checked on the status and was told the parts would be in by Dec. 15. On Dec. 12, he called the repair person but could not get through. He thought the person kept sending him to voice mail and appeared to block his number. Upon calling from a different number, he related that both parties no longer wish to conduct business, and the appliance worker would be sending him his money back minus $150 for a fee. Patrol attempted to reach the repair person which yielded negative for results. Police related that this would be a civil incident. Later, upon speaking with the listed appliance worker, the worker related that he would send back the money for parts and would be removing his diagnostic fee, which he stated was $99.
Road rage
An electrical fire on East Hartsdale Avenue at Rockledge Road on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at 7:30 pm brought out the Fire Department, the Building Department and Con Edison.
On Dec. 17, a driver reported road rage. She advised that she and her husband were involved in a road rage incident earlier that day and the operator of the involved vehicle did not follow her. Patrol instructed her to contact police immediately in the future if involved in a road rage incident in the future and to not engage.
Pedestrian hit
On Dec. 20, a 40-year-old New York City pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Popham Rd. and East Parkway. She was conscious and alert, sitting on the sidewalk, when first responders arrived. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment by Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She reported pain in both knees and her head. The driver was a 49-year-old North Castle woman. She said she did not see the pedestrian in the roadway.

Highway workers responded to Black Birch Lane to repair a damaged water cap in the street Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, police issued a 55-year-old Port Chester driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop on Post and Ferncliff roads.
Verizon was notified about a low-hanging wire over Mamaroneck Rd. Dec. 15.
On Dec. 17, police issued a 32-year-old White Plains driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, a permit violation and an unregistered motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Post and Murray Hill roads.
Tree debris was removed from Brewster Rd. Dec. 19.
Patrol taped up a low-hanging wire over Penn Rd. and notified the utility provider Dec. 19.
Con Edison was notified about a branch hanging on wires on Sherbrooke Rd. Dec. 19.
A tree fell on Heathcote Rd, with electrical wires involved Dec. 19. Police blocked the roadway and stood by until Con Edison arrived. A tree also fell on Penn Blvd. Highway workers were notified, and no wires were involved. Con Edison and/or highway workers were also notified about fallen trees on Madison Rd. and Griffin Ave.
On Dec. 20, a Heathcote Rd. man reported that an unknown car backed into his driveway earlier that day, and the driver got out of the car and went into the man’s backyard. There were no signs of criminal activity.
Police conducted traffic control while a disabled car was towed from Popham Rd. Dec. 20.
The highway department was advised about a tree leaning into Brewster Rd. Dec. 20.
On Dec. 20, the highway department advised that a tree they were taking down at Cohawney and Brewster roads fell on primary wires and was sparking. Con Edison was notified. Firefighters assisted.
Police cleared fallen branches from Lakin Rd. Dec. 21.
Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Dogs
A 43-year-old Greenacres Ave. resident was bitten by a dog on Dec. 14 and reported the bite on Dec. 15. There were no visible signs of injury, and no pain was reported.
A dog was off leash on Roosevelt Place Dec. 20. Police explained to the owner that this was in violation of Village code.
Village code
An illegally posted sign was removed from Brewster Rd. Dec. 18.
On Dec. 18, a caller reported that a sign taped to the stop sign at the intersection Ogden and Fox Meadow roads made her feel uncomfortable. Police removed the illegally posted sign.
Lost and found
A driver reported losing a license plate somewhere in the Village Dec. 16.
A passerby found a wallet in the Village and brought it to police Dec. 16. Police contacted the owner’s friend for notification to the owner and pickup.
A Harvest Dr. resident reported losing his license plates while attempting to mail them back to the DMV Dec. 16.
On Dec. 20, a woman reported losing a bag near the train station. She related that while in Dunkin’ Donuts, she left multiple bags on the MTA train platform, and when she returned, they were missing. Patrol was able to assist her in finding some of her belongings, but due to her losing one bag MTA police were contacted.
A caller reported finding a black, cast-iron menorah, approximately 12 inches tall, on the side of the road near Oak Lane and Highland Way Dec. 20. She wished to document her findings and said she would hold onto the item until an owner comes forward.
Firefighters
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Weaver Street, applying absorbent to spilled fluids Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, firefighters assisted at Edgemont High School due to a boiler issue that spread carbon monoxide throughout the administration building and the outer building via an underground tunnel system. Crews performed primary searches of buildings. No CO or byproducts of combustion were found. Firefighters assisted with ventilation of the boiler room.
On Dec. 15, firefighters were called to a structure fire on Donellan Rd. There, they found a small extinguished fire on the exterior door jamb. The resident was melting ice and accidentally caught the exterior of the structure on fire. Firefighters finished extinguishing the fire, opened up the affected area, checked for extension. There was negative extension from the place of origin.
On Dec. 15, firefighters shut water to a leaking sink and dishwasher in a Madison Rd. house.
On Dec. 16, a Carstensen Rd. resident reported a gasoline odor coming from his BMW X7 at the end of his driveway. Firefighters checked visually and with a monitor, both inside and around the vehicle, and they found no evidence of a leak or odor. Firefighters also checked the garage where the vehicle was reported to be parked, and the results were also negative. Only a slight paint odor was observed, with no readings. Out of an abundance of caution, the resident was advised to not start or operate the vehicle. Instead, to leave it at end of the driveway away from all exposures and have it towed to the dealer to be inspected.
An employee of the gas station on Post Rd. accidentally locked herself out of her personal car Dec. 19. Firefighters opened the car for her, avoiding damage.
Firefighters opened windows in a Cushman Rd. house to assist with ventilation of floor refinishing products Dec. 20.
On Dec. 20, firefighters helped a Secor Rd. resident change batteries in a chirping smoke detector.
On Dec. 21, firefighters cut a ring off of a woman’s finger after she walked into headquarters for help. First, firefighters tried to remove the ring using a compression tool, but that method was unsuccessful.
