Scam
A Fox Meadow Rd. resident reported he met someone on social media who started asking him for money Nov. 16. He realized it was a scam. Police advised him to block contact with the person.

Alarm
On Nov. 11, patrol responded to a Farley Rd. address for a call about an alarm coming from the residence. Patrol conducted an exterior check, which yielded an open door leading to the residence. All was in good order upon patrol's departure.

Disputes
A Haverford Ave. woman reported her neighbor was planting on her property Nov. 12. Police spoke with the neighbor who said she was planting on her property. The two said they have had a history of property line disputes. Police advised them to have the properties surveyed to mark the property line.

On Nov. 12, a Hampton Rd. homeowner and her cleaning lady needed assistance. The homeowner fired the cleaning lady because she said she was no longer satisfied with her services. The cleaning lady said she did not have a ride home. The homeowner was upset that the cleaning lady said she could not leave. They agreed that their dispute was only verbal in nature. Police mediated the dispute, and the homeowner called a taxi for the cleaning lady.

A Mamaroneck Rd. woman reported she no longer wanted a health aide at her house Nov. 13. No specific incident was reported, and police noted this situation has become common for the woman at that address. Police called the woman’s son, who said the aide could leave and would be replaced by another aide later that day. Police provided the aide with a courtesy ride to headquarters where the aide would wait for a pickup ride from her employer.

Help
Water was observed to be flowing out from the lower level entrance door at Scarsdale Middle School Nov. 11. Police entered the building and observed water on the floor. A water leak was suspected. Custodians were notified.

An elderly Christie Place woman called police to ask what time it was on Nov. 15. Police spoke with the woman’s health aide, who assisted the woman and assured all was in good order.

Police helped an Evon Court wife get in touch with her husband who was returning from a business trip to Pennsylvania Nov. 16. The last time she had contact with her husband was on Nov. 15, she said. Police advised the husband to leave more detailed contact information about his business trips.

Police helped a caller get in touch with his Heathcote Rd. parents Nov. 16. All was in good order.

Two people photographing a Dolma Rd. house were asked to leave after the homeowner called police Nov. 16. The photographers stated they incorrectly thought the house had been abandoned.

Asleep
Shortly after midnight, Nov. 18, a Herkimer Rd. resident reported seeing an unknown man on a security camera on his back deck. Upon arrival patrol observed a worker sleeping on a patio chair on the back deck of the house. Upon approaching, the worker, the worker woke up and advised patrol that he works at the Quaker Ridge Golf Course. He said he thought that the deck was part of the Quaker Ridge Golf Course, and he was waiting to go to work. The worker further advised patrol that he had been out with his friends and was unaware where he was. Patrol made contact with the golf course’s superintendent who confirmed that the worker was employed by the golf course. The worker did not conduct any criminal activity at the residence. Patrol provided a courtesy ride for the worker back to the golf course without incident.

Cars and roadways
On Nov. 11, a contractor hit a water line on Barker Lane. The water department was informed for an emergency repair.
Police placed sand over a puddle of collected water on Post Rd. Nov. 11.
Police removed boxes from Palmer Ave. on a windy Nov. 12.
Police assisted with traffic control while a motorist had a flat tire changed on Hutchinson Ave. Nov. 12.
An unoccupied and empty US Mail van was parked on Rural Dr. for more than an hour Nov. 13. Police notified the post authorities.
Police helped a commercial truck driver on Hutchinson Ave. download a commercial driving app on his phone to safely find his way to Massachusetts and avoid parkways, which a normal GPS would use for directions Nov. 14.
A car was blocking a Chesterfield Rd. driveway Nov. 15. Police asked the driver to move it. Police also issued summonses to a car parked more than 12 inches away from the curb and across from a large leaf pile on Chesterfield Rd. that day.
A Haverford Ave. mailbox was damaged in a car accident Nov. 16.
Four car accidents were reported in the Village this week.

Village code
On Nov. 11,police issued a verbal warning to landscapers using gas-powered blowers on the Veteran’s Day holiday.

Police removed and discarded illegally posted signs on Popham and Mamaroneck roads Nov. 11, Depot Place Nov. 12 and Weaver St. Nov. 17.

Police advised a Palmer Ave. construction crew of Village code, and the crew ceased early morning work and cleaned up their site quietly Nov. 16.

Animals
A loose dog, with two possibly injured legs, was found on a Stonehouse Rd. lawn Nov. 17. Police reunited the dog with its owner – and advised the owner about Village code pertaining to dogs off leash.

Lost and found
Police found a wallet on East Parkway and returned it to its owner Nov. 14.

A person reported losing a wallet on Popham Rd. Nov. 15.

On Nov. 17, patrol spoke with a Brewster Rd. woman who stated that she found a small rock on the edge off her driveway. She stated she did not know how or who put the rock there, but she said she thought it was an odd place to find a rock. No criminality was suspected.

Firefighters
On Nov. 11, firefighters used absorbent to clean up spilled motor oil from Fenimore Rd.

On Nov. 13, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Bronx River Parkway.

On Nov. 13, firefighters were called to a Wynmor Rd. house for a reported structure fire, with smoke in the structure. It was determined that the wiring in the attic HVAC unit overheated and ignited at the control board. Fire did not extend outside of the electrical housing. Smoke was carried throughout the first and second levels via the air ducting system prior to the circuit tripping inside the main panel. Fire was already out when firefighters arrived. The structure was ventilated using positive pressure ventilation to assist with removing the smoke. All levels inside the structure were metered for CO with negative results. The breaker to the affected circuit was moved to the off position. The resident was advised that he would need to have the unit repaired.

On Nov. 14, firefighters assisted at a car accident on Fenimore Rd.

Firefighters shut gas to a malfunctioning hot water heater in a Corell Rd. house Nov. 14.

On Nov. 15, firefighters assisted with a vehicle lockout on Lyons Rd.

burningleavesBrush Fires: Dry weather and winds are causing brush fires around the metropolitan area, and Scarsdale is not immune. See below for reports of several leaf fires around the Village. At the meeting of the Scarsdale Village Board on November 12, Village Manager Alex Marshall asked resident to refrain from using fire pits in these dry conditions. She said, “Do what you can to prevent brushfires. She also announced the lighting of the Scarsdale Christmas Tree at “Light the Dale” on the evening of Friday December 6 in Boniface Circle. She said, “The only lighting the Dale we want to do is of the tree in the Village.”

On Nov. 6, a Boulevard resident was burning leaves improperly. There was no method to contain the fire and no sources of water or extinguishers nearby – as required for an open burn. Firefighters extinguished the fire and advised about safety.

A small brush fire of leaves and dry brush was burning on a Heathcote School footpath on Lincoln Rd Nov. 8. Firefighters promptly extinguished it and overhauled the area. No cause could be determined.

On Nov. 9, a brush fire was burning in a leaf pile at the curb and extending to a residential woodland garden. Firefighters extinguished it and overhauled the area. No cause could be determined.

On Nov. 9, a Franklin Rd. resident was burning leaves in a grill. Firefighters extinguished the fire because it was no safe and did not comply with NYS regulations.

Arrested
Following a car accident at Morris Ln. and Heathcote Rd. Nov. 10, in which a car struck a curb, police arrested a 70-year-old Florida woman who was suspected to be driving while intoxicated. She was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense), operation of a motor vehicle with at least .08 of one percent of alcohol in the blood stream, and driving with an open container of alcohol. She was released on her own recognizance and appeared in Village Court that day.

Stolen
A Garth Rd. storeowner reported an employee was observed stealing rolls of toilet paper from the store Nov. 7. He wanted to document the incident but not press charges. He said he was going to fire the employee.

Identity theft and scams
On Nov. 4, a Fox Meadow Rd. man reported that someone used his social security number to fraudulently apply for a loan.

A Garden Rd. man received a call that his son was in trouble and he needed to send money for his son’s safety Nov. 8. He called his son, who was fine, and realized the call had been a scam.

Disputes
Police were called to a Mamaroneck Rd. house because the resident no longer wanted a contracted health aide in her house and the aide was allegedly refusing to leave Nov. 6. No incident had occurred that prompted the resident to dismiss the aide. Police spoke to the aide’s employer who said a new aide would be dispatched to the residence, so the other aide could leave.

On Nov. 9, a passenger called police to report a dispute with an Uber driver. Patrol responded to Post and Edgewood roads and spoke with passengers who stated that while on their way home their Uber driver started driving erratically. They requested that he stop and let them out. After they got out, the Uber driver started yelling at them and then left in an unknown direction.

Suspicious
A caller reported that a crawl space door of a Barry Rd. house for sale was removed Nov. 4. Police checked the crawl space and did not find any signs of criminal activity.

Workers at 7-Eleven reported a woman seemed to be falling asleep inside the store and was taking a very long time to collect items to be purchased at 2:15 a.m., Nov. 6. Police arrived and observed the woman. She declined assistance, made her purchases and left the store.

Dangerous
Youths were reportedly climbing onto the roof of a building near Wilmot Rd. Nov. 9. Security cameras captured the incident. Police went to the scene and did not see any kids on the roof. No damage was reported. Police advised the building manager to make modifications to the building to prevent access to the roof.

Homeless
A homeless woman was reportedly changing clothes inside the crosswalk bridge at the Scarsdale train station Nov. 5. Police went to the scene and found the woman, who was wearing minimal clothing. Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps was called to evaluate the woman’s condition, and the scene was turned over to MTA police.

On Nov. 7, a woman was wandering around the parking lot at Village Hall. She appeared to be in a state of confusion, stating that she was trying to get to her friend’s house. Patrol requested SVAC for an evaluation, which the woman refused. Patrol provided a courtesy ride to the woman's last known address.

Help
A Gaylor Rd. resident reported hearing loud singing outside their house Nov. 7. Police heard nothing. The person was deemed to be experiencing auditory hallucinations and was advised to contact their doctor the next day.

At 2 a.m., Nov. 10, worried Rural Dr. parents called police because they could not get in contact with their 15-year-old son, with whom they had last had contact at 11 p.m., Nov. 9. It was soon determined that the son was in good condition and had fallen asleep at a friend’s house.

Cars and roadways
On Nov. 4, following a car accident at Post and Popham roads, one driver requested police assistance because the other driver, a woman, could not speak English very well. At that time, it was determined that the woman driver, from Mt. Vernon, was unlicensed and uninsured. Police issued appropriate summonses.

On Nov. 5, numerous leaf piles on Oak Lane were disrupting traffic flow. Police notified the highway department.

Police notified utility providers about a drooping wire on Brookline Rd. Nov. 6.

On Nov. 8, a caller reported a road rage incident on Post Rd. He said the other driver, also a man, was standing outside in front of her vehicle. Upon arrival, police observed two cars stopped in the right lane with their hazard lights on. One driver was standing outside his vehicle leaning against his trunk. He stated the operator of the second car had honked at him earlier when he had changed lanes. He stated he may have “accidentally cut him off” due to a visible neck mobility restriction. He stated he had stopped because he observed the occupants of the other vehicle filming him and told him they were calling the police, to which he stated he would rather remain on scene and explain the situation. The operator of the other car stated the man had approached his vehicle aggressively. All parties were cooperative with patrol; no violations were observed, and no damage was reported or observed.

Animals
A driver hit a deer on Heathcote Rd. and watched it walk away from the accident Nov. 4. Police found fur on the driver’s bumper, but Deerdid not find the deer.

On Nov. 5, a caller reported an injured goose on Tisdale Rd. Patrol observed the goose. It appeared that a stick was somehow attached to the goose’s foot. When patrol got close to the goose it flew away and did not appear to be injured.

A Westchester County fire truck struck a deer on Weaver St. and Griffen Ave. Nov. 7 around 4:30 p.m.

Village code
On Nov. 4, police removed illegally posted signs from Mamaroneck Rd. and Crossway.

On Nov. 5, police removed illegally posted signs from Huntington Ave.

Police dispersed kids, who were playing basketball, from a Boulevard basketball court after dark Nov. 6.

Leaves in a huge pile were blocking Chesterfield Rd. Nov. 8. Police notified the homeowner, who agreed to move the leaves.

Lost and found
A passerby found a woman’s bag and wallet on Post Road Nov. 7. Police returned the items to their owner.

On Nov. 8, a caller reported losing an iPhone near the intersection of East Parkway and Spencer Place.

Car keys found on Rock Creek Lane were given to police Nov. 9.

Firefighters
On Nov. 4, firefighters helped an elderly Brewster Rd. couple install a smoke detector.

On Nov. 5, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a leaking gas-fired fire pit. The unit was red-tagged by Con Edison.

Firefighters removed a smoking, unattended pot, from a Lincoln Rd. house Nov. 5. They opened windows to ventilate because of collected smoke.

Firefighters helped SVAC with a lift assist in a Black Birch Lane house Nov. 6.

On Nov. 6, firefighters helped a Dunham Rd. resident with a faulty range. All gas was off, and no leaks were detected. Service was recommended to fix a broken igniter.

Firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Nov. 8.

On Nov. 9, a Bradford Rd. resident accidentally got locked out of his house. Firefighters and police checked the man’s ID, and enabled him to gain entry to the house.

A burglar alarm sounded in a Gatehouse Road house Oct. 24. Police checked the house and were waiting for the homeowner to determine if any items were stolen.

Identity theft
On Oct. 21, a Black Birch Lane resident reported someone fraudulently opened a Verizon account in his name in 2022.

Scam
A Montrose Road resident reported someone sent her an email demanding money; otherwise the sender would allegedly publish photos of the resident online. Police advised the resident to block the sender. They advised it was a common scam.

Messages
On Oct. 27, a Fayette Road resident reported receiving unwanted messages through LinkedIn. She believes the messages were a case of mistaken identity.

Death
A 92-year-old Hillview Drive man died at home, of natural causes, Oct. 27.

Civil matters
On Oct. 24, a Lee Road resident and a contractor reported a civil incident.

On Oct. 25, a Sheldrake Road resident reported a dispute with contractors working at an adjacent property. The resident stated that the contractors were "threatening" him. Then he further stated, "They said they're going to take down my fence." Police then spoke with the contractors who advised of a longstanding civil dispute over property lines, variances and permits. The work being done was shown to be permitted work on the surveyed lane. The contractors showed various videos of the resident aggressively speaking to them on various dates, along with some writing the resident had written on the fence that had to then be taken down and replaced. Police advised it was a civil matter.

On Oct. 26, police were called to mediate a civil dispute over a shared driveway on Brewster Road.

A Brown Road couple spoke with police about a custody matter, which was being addressed by lawyers Oct. 27.

On Oct. 21, police notified Verizon about low-hanging wires on Post Road and Nelson Road.

On Oct. 22, firefighters were called to a Franklin Road house, under renovation, to address a leaking Acetylene tank in an area where a detector activated creating false positive for CO. The tank was removed from the house, and ventilation was started.

Firefighters checked other gas-fired appliances and found no other sources for CO exposure. A dryer vent was loose at one connection, so firefighters shut gas and power to it. They advised the resident to make repairs to the vent pipe.

Firefighters turned off a generator that was left running at a Dickel Road house Oct. 24.

On Oct. 24, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a Crossway boiler gas leak.

On Oct. 26, firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Secor Road.

On Oct. 27, firefighters assisted with two car accidents on the Bronx River Parkway.

When interrupted, the burglar fled the residence.

Arrested
On Oct. 31, police arrested a 61-year-old New Rochelle driver of a car involved in a car accident on Mamaroneck Road and Griffen Avenue. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of more than .08 of 1 one percent.

Stolen
On Oct. 29, a Penn Boulevard resident reported his electric scooter was stolen from the bike rack on East Parkway.

On Nov. 2, a resident reported his bicycle was stolen from the bike rack on East Parkway.

Scam
On Nov. 1, a Post Road resident reported harassing text in which a caller asked for money for wasting an escort’s time from an escort service. Police advised the texts were a scam to attempt to receive money.

Mischief
On Nov. 1, a Church Lane man reported youths ringing doorbells and running away. Police on scene spoke to the youths and advised them on the dangers of such activity.

Upset customer
On Nov. 3, around 1 a.m., a Scarsdale Avenue worker reported a customer was yelling at him and refusing to leave. Patrol units responded and made contact with the worker at the establishment. The employee stated he put up an "on break sign" on the front door while he was using the restroom. When the employee went to remove the sign after his break, he observed an individual at the front door banging the door and yelling at him. When the employee told the individual he was going to call the cops, the individual spit on the counter and fled the store in an unknown direction. The individual was described as a black male wearing a white hoodie and carrying a skateboard. The employee wished only to document the incident and requested no further assistance.

Help
An elderly man fell on the Bronx River bike path and started bleeding Oct. 28. Patrol called County police and EMS services.

Police helped a Cohawney Road resident dispose of a gas can containing liquid inside it Oct. 28.
After midnight, Nov. 3, police encountered a woman sitting in a car on East Parkway. She said she was sitting in her boyfriend's car talking with her boyfriend when he suddenly left his vehicle due to building frustration. She stated her boyfriend suffers from PTSD, which triggers his frustration at random times. In order to cool off, he tends to go for walks. The woman stated she did not know where her boyfriend was, but she would like assistance with a ride home. Police contacted a taxi and set up a ride back home for her.

An Aspen Rd. resident fell asleep on a moped at a traffic intersection at 1:45 a.m., Nov. 3.

On Nov. 3, a Black Hawk Road nanny reported she has been living at her employer’s house location for three months as a live-in nanny. She said while she was out for the evening yesterday, her employer severed ties and asked to mail her her belongings. She requested an escort to retrieve her items. Patrol assisted her with removing her belongings without incident.HalloweenParadeScarsdale's youngest residents enjoyed a Halloween parade in Scarsdale Village on October 31.

Suspicious
A caller reported a man in a white hooded sweatshirt and a mask standing in the woods between Quaker Ridge Golf Club and Griffin Avenue Oct. 28. Police spoke with the caddy master who said the man did not work for the club.

At 1 a.m., Oct. 29, a Rectory Lane girl though she heard someone dragging a trash can outside. She looked outside and thought she saw a figure at the end of her driveway. Police investigated and found neither a person outside the house nor any trashcans out of place.

Police advised a man who was walking down the middle of Weaver Street and Griffen Avenue that it was dangerous Oct. 29. He was told to walk on the sidewalk.

On Oct. 31, bank employees on East Parkway thought they saw a man inside their bank that matched the description of an individual accused of robbing an ATM.

fallcolorsArrested: On Oct. 16, while conducting patrol in the vicinity of Popham Rd. and Scarsdale Ave., the driver of a black Lexus four-door sedan, who was described as a 52-year-old black man from the Bronx, was observed utilizing his mobile phone while driving. Patrol initiated a car stop and subsequently took the driver into custody due to additional findings. The driver was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance and issued a future date.

Burglary
A burglar alarm sounded at a Whig Rd. house Oct. 18. The homeowner was away and called police. Policed found a broken basement window at the scene.

Multiple tools and equipment were stolen from a Cooper Rd. construction site Oct. 19. The door was found ajar.

Stolen rental car
On Oct. 15, Scarsdale Ave. rental car agency manager reported that one of his cars has not been returned since June 2024. It had been rented by a 39-year-old Nelson Rd. man.

Mailbox
A sticky substance, commonly used in “mailbox fishing” scams and check washing, was found on the mail slot of the mailbox at Brewster Rd. and Huntington Ave Oct. 15. Policed notified the postal inspector.

Help
Police advised a Carthage Rd. resident to call a plumber regarding water backing up in the resident’s house through the shower and toilet Oct. 14.

Girls waiting for parents to pick them up on Wilmot Rd. flagged down police and asked for help because their cellphones were dead Oct. 17. Police called their parents and stood by until the girls were safely picked up.

Trespassing
Policed advised a disruptive person that he was not welcome at the library because he was disrupting other patrons Oct. 16.

A man loitering by tennis courts and a parking lot on Post Rd. was asked to leave Oct. 17.

A man acting “abnormal” was reported on Chase Rd. Oct. 17. He was gone when police arrived.

Civil matter
A Brewster Rd. woman reported a dispute with her neighbor over a shared driveway Oct. 17. She stated when they were having the dispute, she was standing in the driveway. She said that her neighbor tried to back out of the driveway when she was still standing there and alleged he tried to harm her. Patrol was shown a video of the incident that showed the neighbor attempting to back out of the driveway and honking the horn to alert the woman that he was backing out. The neighbor stopped his car and waited for the woman to move. The disagreement over the driveway is currently under litigation.

Pedestrian Hit
A 40-year-old female pedestrian was hit by a turning car at Post and Mamaroneck roads Oct. 18. She was not in the marked crosswalk. She complained of left hip and arm pain. She was taken to the hospital. The driver said she was affected by sun glare.

Cars and roadways
On Oct. 14, a tree fell on a Rectory Lane car.
On Oct. 15, a Roosevelt Place resident complained that a teacher’s car was blocking his driveway. School administration said they would ask the teacher to move the car.
Police contacted a tow for driver whose car broke down on Post Rd. Oct. 15.
A black Chevy Tahoe pulled into a Griffen Ave. driveway and people inside the car took several flash photos of the house before leaving Oct. 16.
A disabled car was towed from Post Rd. Oct. 17.
A 2010 Mercedes-Benz with heavy front-end damage was found abandoned at Broadmoor Rd. and Griffen Ave. Oct. 18.
Patrol cleaned up plant debris in the roadway on Kingston Rd. Oct. 18. The homeowner, who was responsible, was issued a summons.
A car was parked and accidentally left running on Palmer Ave. Oct. 19. Police contacted the owner, and it was turned off.
Five car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Lost and found
On Oct. 14, a Christie Place resident reported losing his wallet in the Village.

Animals
On Oct. 14, a neighbor complained about a barking dog on Coralyn Rd. Police spoke with the owner who said the dog let itself out through the dog door. The owner apologized.

A caller reported a car struck two dogs on Crane Rd. Oct. 16.

Another car struck one dog on Brewster Rd. Oct. 16.

Village code
A Woodland Place resident was doing demolition work in violation of Village code Oct. 15. He had a permit but needed to get one that covered the kind of work in question.
On Oct. 15, an illegally posted sign was removed from Lee Rd.
Landscapers were advised of allowable hours for noisy work on Donellan Rd. Oct. 16.
A neighbor complained about loud kids playing outside on Stonehouse Rd. Oct. 19. Police went to the house, and the kids went inside.
Police helped a Sage Terrace resident move a sign to comply with Village code Oct. 20.

Firefighters
Firefighters advised the water department about a reported water leak on Ridgedale Rd. Oct. 14.
Firefighters shut gas to a Black Birch Lane stove with a gas leak Oct. 14. They advised to call a plumber.
On Oct. 14, a Drake Rd. resident reported a burning odor from an outlet. Firefighters found an outlet in the living room near the front door was melted due to an electric heater being operated. Firefighters shut power at the breaker and locked out the breaker. Firefighters opened up the outlet to inspect for extension,
On Oct. 15, firefighters helped a locked-out Herkimer Rd. resident get back in their house.
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on Rock Creek Lane Nov. 15.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Oct. 15.
An odor in a Brayton Rd. house was determined to be from a dead mouse Oct. 15.
Firefighters assisted on Edison check for a gas leak inside a Leatherstocking Lane house Oct. 17.
A Heathcote Rd. resident was advised to contact a sprinkler company for a leak Oct. 18.
Firefighters helped a Penn Blvd. resident change smoke detector batteries Oct. 18.
Firefighters assisted at car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Oct. 18 and 19.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Post Rd. Oct. 18.
