Police Report: Jewelry Worth $100K Stolen from Birchall Drive House

On Dec. 19, a Birchall Drive resident reported coming home and finding her back door’s glass to be smashed. Investigation revealed that approximately $100,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen. Police are following up.

Parent
A school official on Boulevard advised police that a disorderly parent driving a white Lexus SUV was no longer welcome on school property Dec. 18.

Concerns
On Dec. 18, a Brite Avenue woman reported finding a small piece of glass in the microwave on Dec. 15. The woman was concerned because she thought the incident might be related to a person she met online.

Scooter
Police asked the owner of a motorized scooter to move it from its close proximity to the high school track Dec. 23.

Help
A contractor reported his Wynmor Road client was not returning the contractor’s equipment Dec. 20. Police assisted in facilitating a return of the equipment and advised the parties to stay away from each other.

A sealed “return to Pitney Bows” package was found on a bush on Brewster Road Dec. 21. It looked like it had accidentally been left there. Police picked it up and brought it to the post office.

On Dec. 21, and elderly Saxon Woods Road caller advised of a tooth ache and requested a root canal. The caller was advised that the only services dispatch could offer was for an ambulance to respond and take her to the emergency room. The caller stated that she did not require ambulance services at this time and ended the call. Dispatch made notification to staff at the Ambassador front desk who were already aware of the caller's complaint and had administered a pain reliever.

Police performed a welfare check of a Walworth Avenue resident after a nurse asked them on Dec. 22.

Police called a taxi for an elderly man on Cooper Road who needed to get to a local temple for services Dec. 22.

Civil matter
A Mamaroneck Road man reported a dispute with a roofer Dec. 22. The man advised he had a verbal altercation via phone, with an employee from a roofing company. The man advised that he was quoted and invoiced for a roofing job that was estimated to take three days of labor. The roofing company completed one day of work and was requesting full payment. The man advised that when he questioned the invoice, the employee became irate and stated, "I will come back to the house and rip the roof off." The man wished to have the incident documented.

Teen hit by car
A mother reported her 15-year-old son was riding a bicycle and was struck by a car at Church Lane and Crane Road. The boy had been on his way to school when the accident occurred.

Cars and roadways
On Dec. 18, a highway department structure on Freightway Road toppled to the ground.
Sewage was backing up into a Webster Road house Dec. 18. Police notified the highway department.
A car ran out of gas on Post Road Dec. 18, Police stood by until additional gas was brought to the scene.
On Dec. 19, police noticed a 2019 Audi with scofflaw status, resulting from $540 in unpaid parking tickets, parked on East Parkway. The car was towed to the police impound lot.
A fallen branch caused a parked car’s window to be smashed on Clarence Road. It was discovered Dec. 19.
A car ran out of gas on Bypass Dec. 20. A passerby offered to pick up a can of gasoline. Police helped fill the car ‘s tank with the fuel.
A parked car was left running in Freightway Garage Dec. 21. Police turned off the ignition and attempted to contact the owner.
A box truck struck an overpass bridge on the Hutchinson Rive4r Parkway, exited and parked on Weaver Street Dec. 21. Police notified Westchester County police.
Another truck struck an overpass bridge on the Hutchinson River Parkway, exited and parked on Meadow Road Dec. 22. Police notified Westchester County police.
A driver accidentally locked his key inside his car with the car running on Freightway Road Dec. 22. Police stood by while a tow truck driver worked to get the car open.
Three car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Neighbors
On Dec. 18, a Lyons Road tree fell onto a neighbor’s Nelson Road property, causing damage. Police attempted to make contact with the owner of the tree.

Village code
Police removed and discarded several illegally posted signs from Bypass Dec. 19.

A dump truck driver delivered sand to a Griffen Avenue golf club around 4 a.m., Dec. 21. Police advised the driver that after-hours deliveries were in violation of Village code.

A driver was playing loud music from his car on Popham Road Dec. 22. Police asked the driver to lower the volume of music.
Police asked a Deerfield Road resident to lower the volume of loud music after neighbors complained Dec. 23.

Police issued a warning to the owner of dogs that were running on a Brewster Road school field Dec. 24.

Firefighters
An elevator at the Scarsdale train station was placed out of commission due to mechanical problem Dec.18.

Firefighters helped Con Edison check houses for gas infiltration on Ogden Road Dec. 18.

Con Edison was notified about a sparking wire on Murray Hill Road Dec. 18.

On Dec. 18, firefighters helped push water out of a Tompkins Road garage with a broom.

Wires were arcing on Chesterfield Road Dec. 18. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.

A gas odor was detected on Shawnee Road Dec. 18. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident involving a UPS truck on Fenimore Road Dec. 20.

Half of a Heathcote Road house was without power Dec. 20. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.

Firefighters provided first responder care to a woman who fell on East Parkway while waiting for an ambulance crew to arrive Dec. 22.

A bathroom door at Starbucks malfunctioned and locked Dec. 22. Firefighters forced entry and confirmed no one was inside. The employees were advised to place the bathroom out of service.
