Police Report: Tires Slashed on Three Cars on Dunham Road

Slashed tires: On Dec. 30, a Dunham Road resident reported tires on three of his vehicles were slashed overnight. The damages occurred on the following cars – a 2022 Subaru worth $20,000, a 2016 Porsche worth $50,000, and a 2015 Jeep worth $15,000.

Identity theft
On Dec. 26, a Birchall Drive woman reported that someone used her information to fraudulently open an AT&T Direct TV account. It had an unpaid balance.

Harassment
A Mount Vernon resident who was house sitting on Kingston Road reported that her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend posted the resident’s phone number online and she was now receiving calls and social media messages from unknown numbers, which she found harassing. Police advised her to report the matter to Mount Vernon police.

On Dec. 30, a driver on Saxon Woods Road reported three females threw food at his car and shouted racial slurs to him while he was driving on Mamaroneck Road. He said his car was not damaged. When he eventually turned his car around to confront the females, they were on Saxon Woods Road. Words were allegedly exchanged, and the females told the man to "Go back where he came from." The man did not observe where the females went after that verbal exchange.

Doorbells
Residents of Nelson Road and Morris Lane reported that unknown persons rang their doorbells overnight Dec. 26 into Dec. 27.

On Dec. 27, a man wearing pajamas and a dark rain jacket rang a Park Road doorbell and allegedly looked into the house windows. Police found the man on the street. He said he accidentally rang the wrong doorbell.

Trash
A Cohawney Road resident reported someone drove up to his house and threw a black garbage bag on is property Dec. 29. Police examined the bag, found it to contain trash and disposed of the trash.

Alcohol
On Dec. 31, a caller reported that he thought a Scarsdale Avenue business might be selling alcohol to underage buyers. Police went to the business and spoke with the manager. He advised that when customers purchase alcohol the cashier must scan their IDs. When the ID is scanned, the store's computer will flag any ID that causes an error or appears to be fraudulent. The manager indicated that no customer IDs created such a reaction that day. Additionally the manager advised that his employees have been made aware of looking for any people who appear to be under the legal drinking age and to prohibit any sale of alcohol to those people.

Help
Police assisted at a felony car stop off Weaver Street Dec. 26. An occupant of the car was wanted for a homicide out of New York City. Police assisted multiple officers from New Rochelle, Westchester County and New York State police departments until a lieutenant from Westchester County police released assisting officers.

A 39-year-old man was found at the Scarsdale train station and seemed confused about which train to take home Dec. 26. A passerby alerted police and stayed with the man until police arrived. Police called the man’s sister. She said he had been with a group in NYC and separated from the group and boarded a Metro-North train. The sister arrived at headquarters and picked up the man. Police advised her on tracking options as a precaution.

On Dec. 31, a woman asked police if she could wait inside the headquarters building for her sister to pick her up. She said she did not have money for a bus home. Police called the sister, who arrived for the pickup.

Civil matter
On Dec. 30, a Brewster Road woman reported her neighbors were driving their car over her part of the driveway. The involved neighbor said he would try his best to not drive over the allotted feet of driveway allocated for his use. This has been an ongoing civil issue between both parties.

Cars and roadways
On Dec. 27, police reported fallen wires on Fox Meadow Road to Verizon.

A man sitting on an Oxford Road curb, allegedly “rocking back and forth,” told police he was waiting for a ride home Dec. 28.

Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Lost and found
A Rodney Road resident reported losing a license plate Dec. 27.

Fire department
On Dec. 26 and Dec. 30, firefighters assisted Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps lift a person who needed help in Edgewood.

On Dec. 27, firefighters helped a Garden Road housekeeper who accidentally got locked outside the house to get back inside the house.

On Dec. 27, firefighters were called to a Ridgedale Road house for a reported smoke odor. They traced the odor to a burnt doorbell transformer in the basement, near the stairwell. The unit was disconnected and de-energized. Firefighters advised the resident of findings and correction. No ventilation was needed.

On Dec. 29, firefighters were dispatched to a Lyons Road house for a reported “fire inside the walls.” Crews were met by a tenant at the front door. She stated that she had noticed flickering lights and called an electrician. There was no odor, smoke, or fire. Firefighters learned that an electrician had responded, evaluated the main electrical panel, found charred panel feeds, and notified the tenant that the main feed wiring would have to be replaced. When the tenant notified the homeowners of the problem, the homeowners opted to call a different electrician. The original electrician notified emergency services of the hazard, of a possible fire. Upon investigation, crews noted that the arced/charred wiring was located before the main shutoff. Con Edison was notified for response to remove power upstream of the damaged wiring, meaning at or before the electrical meter. Con Edison responded, evaluated the panel, and removed the meter. The new electrician responded and discussed repair with a Con Edison technician. The electrician stated that the repair would be made that day.

On Dec. 29, several mischievous activations of a fire alarm pull box were noted at the Christie Place garage. The fire inspector is investigating.

A defective overhead light ballast was causing a smoky haze in a Johnson Road house Dec. 30. Firefighters disconnected the unit.

On Dec. 30, firefighters disconnected an overheated microwave in a Cushman Road house.

On Dec. 31, firefighters helped a Claremont Road pet sitter, who accidentally got locked outside the house, get back inside the house to take care of animals inside.
