Police Report: Stolen Car from Yonkers, Recovered in Village

astilbePhoto by Shelley GrafsteinRecovered car: A stolen 2022 Honda, owned by a Yonkers resident, was recovered at Griffen Avenue and Normandy Lane June 18. It had been reported stolen sometime between June 7 and June 18, according to police. The car was towed to the police impound lot, and the owner was notified. Police are following up.

Fraud, identity theft
On June 21, a Spencer Place business owner reported that he was informed about a charge back from a credit card, for the fraudulent purchase of two $17,500 Rolex watches, resulting in a loss for the business.

Cars and roadways
A driver complained that blacktop work being performed on Heathcote Road ruined his car’s tires by causing melted blacktop to adhere to the tires June 18. Police documented the incident.

On June 18, police were dispatched to Crossway for a reported car that ran out of gasoline. Police helped the Brooklyn driver pour gasoline from a canister into her car without spilling it. Police checked the driver’s license and noted it was suspended. Police issued her a summons for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Five car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Village code
On June 20, police removed an illegally posted sign from the Village right of way on Fenimore Road. The owner for the advertising sign was issued a summons.

Lost and found
On June 17, a passerby found car keys on Garth Road and gave them to police for safekeeping.

On June 20, a passerby found a set of keys on Catherine Road and gave them to police for safekeeping.

Firefighters
Firefighters assisted at two unrelated car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway June 18.

Firefighters informed the water department of a leaking hydrant on Crossway June 18.

On June 18, firefighters checked a Heathcote Road house for gas after a resident accidentally left a stove burner in the “on” position while out of the house.

On June 19, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a reported gas leak on Greenacres Avenue.

A Birchall Drive resident accidentally got locked out of the resident’s house due to a defective garage door opener June 20. Firefighters helped the resident get back inside the house.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway June 23.
