Police Report: Burglaries Reported on Claremont and Gatehouse Roads

Burglaries: On Oct. 23, a Claremont Road woman reported that she came home to find her door open. She discovered her house had been burglarized. At least five items were reported to have been stolen.
A burglar alarm sounded in a Gatehouse Road house Oct. 24. Police checked the house and were waiting for the homeowner to determine if any items were stolen.
Stolen
On Oct. 23, a person reported his wallet was stolen at a Scarsdale Ave. business.
Identity theft
On Oct. 21, a Black Birch Lane resident reported someone fraudulently opened a Verizon account in his name in 2022.
Scam
A Montrose Road resident reported someone sent her an email demanding money; otherwise the sender would allegedly publish photos of the resident online. Police advised the resident to block the sender. They advised it was a common scam.
Messages
On Oct. 27, a Fayette Road resident reported receiving unwanted messages through LinkedIn. She believes the messages were a case of mistaken identity.
Death
A 92-year-old Hillview Drive man died at home, of natural causes, Oct. 27.
Civil matters
On Oct. 24, a Lee Road resident and a contractor reported a civil incident.
On Oct. 25, a Sheldrake Road resident reported a dispute with contractors working at an adjacent property. The resident stated that the contractors were "threatening" him. Then he further stated, "They said they're going to take down my fence." Police then spoke with the contractors who advised of a longstanding civil dispute over property lines, variances and permits. The work being done was shown to be permitted work on the surveyed lane. The contractors showed various videos of the resident aggressively speaking to them on various dates, along with some writing the resident had written on the fence that had to then be taken down and replaced. Police advised it was a civil matter.
On Oct. 26, police were called to mediate a civil dispute over a shared driveway on Brewster Road.
A Brown Road couple spoke with police about a custody matter, which was being addressed by lawyers Oct. 27.
Cars and roadways
On Oct. 21, police notified Verizon about low-hanging wires on Post Road and Nelson Road.
Police cleared fallen branches from Saxon Woods Road Oct. 22 and Farley Rd. Oct. 27.
On Oct. 22, police helped a Ferncliff Road resident move her car so workers could complete road repairs.

Four car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Village code
On Oct. 21, policed removed illegally posted signs from the Village right of way on Stonehouse Road.
Police advised a Cornell St. resident to lower the volume of music after neighbors complained Oct. 26.
Police advised a Sage Terrace resident to lower the volume of music after neighbors complained Oct. 27.
A leaf pile was reported to be blocking a fire hydrant on Sycamore Road Oct. 27. A summons was issued.
Lost and found
On Oct. 21, a driver reported losing a trailer license plate in the Village.
Firefighters
On Oct. 21, firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
On Oct. 22, firefighters were called to a Franklin Road house, under renovation, to address a leaking Acetylene tank in an area where a detector activated creating false positive for CO. The tank was removed from the house, and ventilation was started.
Firefighters checked other gas-fired appliances and found no other sources for CO exposure. A dryer vent was loose at one connection, so firefighters shut gas and power to it. They advised the resident to make repairs to the vent pipe.
Firefighters turned off a generator that was left running at a Dickel Road house Oct. 24.
On Oct. 24, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a Crossway boiler gas leak.
On Oct. 26, firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Secor Road.
On Oct. 27, firefighters assisted with two car accidents on the Bronx River Parkway.
