From the Police: Busts, Runaways and Inappropriate Behavior

Scarsdale Police Report: An 87 year-old New Rochelle woman lost control of her 2005 Buick on Wednesday afternoon May 2 and hit a fire hydrant and then ran into the porch of a home at 287 Boulevard in Scarsdale.

Stolen materials: The project manager of Heathcote Manor on Weaver Street waved down police on the morning of May 3rd to report that a coil of copper wire valued at $1,000 was missing from the construction site. The coils, which had already been laid out on the property, each ran to separate transformers. The theft of the coils caused the team to incur another $5,000 in damage to the project.

Arrested: Previn Allen, age 41 of the Bronx, surrendered himself to Scarsdale Police in response to an outstanding bench warrant for criminal contempt on the morning of May 3rd. He was released on $7,500 bail and a temporary Order of Protection was issued.

Missing: A Greenacres mom reported the theft of a rented violin from her property on Kingston Road. She claimed that the violin was left on a ledge near the house on the afternoon of April 30th. When she realized it was missing on May 1, it was no longer outside. However, on May 4 the victim reported that the violin was found in the orchestra room of Scarsdale High School – and had apparently never been brought home.

A mailbox was stolen from a Cornell Street house sometime on Sunday May 6th. The homeowner reported that he had recently purchased a new mailbox.

Identity Theft: A Quaker Ridge woman reported unauthorized activity in her Chase Bank account. In the past someone attempted to make an electronic transfer out of her account and to change the email address on the account. Both were stopped by bank personnel. On May 1, another transfer for $2,000 was attempted and was cancelled when the woman told the bank it was unauthorized.

At 12:30 pm on May 2, police received a call about a man urinating while standing on the center median on Weaver Street across from Dunkin Donuts. Police searched for the man but were unable to find him.

Wha’s that? A Greenacres Avenue woman reported that black liquid was splattered on her 2008 Mercedes Benz while it was parked at her home overnight from 5/4 – 5/5.

A Black Birch Lane man reported that a moving truck had damaged his front lawn on the night of 5/3. The driver of the trunk admitted to running over the lawn and want to rake it out, though the homeowner believed the lawn needed further repairs.

Greenburgh Police Report:

Busted: Police came upon a blue 2005 Acura parked in the upper lot of a Central Avenue shopping area on the evening of May 1. Inside the car were three young men. While police interviewed the occupants they detected the smell of marijuana and found that there was a pipe, a Ziploc bag of marijuana and a grinder. The young men, two who are students at Edgemont High School were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, issued appearance tickets and released to their parents.

Also smoking marijuana was Javier LaBorde of Yonkers, who was found at the Hartsdale Station smoking a joint at 11 pm on 5/1. He was charged with criminal possession of marijuana.

Runaways: At 1:30 am on May 4, police found two children walking on Central Avenue in Scarsdale. They stopped them and found out that they had run away from Cedar Knolls, a Children’s Group Home in Hawthorne. Police brought them to Greenburgh Police Headquarters where they were picked up and returned to Cedar Knolls.

Stolen phones: Two iPhones, valued at $1,300 were stolen from the display rack of the AT&T store on Central Avenue on the evening of May 3 around 6:00 pm.

Identity Theft: A young woman who works as a babysitter on Campden Road in Edgemont reported that $369 in unauthorized charges were made to a Victoria’s Secret account in her name. An Overton Road man reported that an HP account was opened in his name and $4,488 was charged to the fraudulent account.

Lost purse: A Yonkers woman was shopping at H Mart on Central Avenue on Saturday April 20th and inadvertently left her purse in the shopping cart after she unloaded her groceries into her car. When she got home she realized she lost her purse and asked her son to go to the store and look for it. The purse was found in a cart behind the store, but $2,000 in cash was missing.
