Prescription Forgery, a Break-in and a Death on the Train: From the Scarsdale Police

The Scarsdale PBA is conducting its annual "Toys for Tots Drive" and asks residents to donate a new, unwrapped toy at the Scarsdale Police Department from now until December 20. These toys will be distributed to less fortunate children in the community.

Avoid a parking ticket: Also, please note that from November 1 to March 31 cars cannot be parked overnight on Village streets. Police are now giving summonses to cars parked on streets between the hours of 2 am and 6 am. Avoid a $15 ticket by moving your car into your driveway or parking it on the roof level of Freightway garage, in the open lot at Freightway, in the Merchants' lot or in the Scarsdale Avenue lot.

Death: Police were called to the Scarsdale Train Station at 8:36 am on 11/28 to assist a man in cardiac arrest on the fourth car of the train. Police performed CPR and transported him to White Plains Hospital. The man, who was later identified as James B. Cohen, age 62 of Hartsdale passed away. He was formerly of Scarsdale and worked as an SVP at Morgan Stanley.

Prescription forgery: On 11/30, a 19 year-old man from Weaver Street was charged with possession of stolen property, diversion of a prescription and possession of forged instruments after he took a blank prescription form from a dermatologist's office and used it to attempt to buy Valium at Stratton Pharmacy on Weaver Street. The pharmacist was suspicious because dermatologists do not usually prescribe Valium and faxed the form back to the doctor's office. They confirmed that the prescription slip was missing and unaccounted for at the office. The pharmacist notified police who brought the prescription slip in question back to the doctor who confirmed that it was forged. Police also reviewed videotape of the suspect in the pharmacy. They contacted the suspect and he came to headquarters with his mother on 11/30 to surrender. He was processed for arrest and released on $100 cash bail.

Break-in: On Continental Room a home was entered on the night of November 30. Residents returned home around 10 pm and found a sliding door shattered. The closet in the master bedroom was tossed and the resident's will supply police with a list of missing items.

Theft: Police Report: A Boulevard Resident reported that $800 was missing from his home after he had movers from 1-800-GOT-Junk remove property from his home on 11/26. He said that one of the workers asked to use the bathroom on the second floor and then yelled for the other worker to come upstairs to bring him a new HAZMAT suit. The following morning, the residents said that two black wallets containing $800 were missing from a chest of drawers in the second floor hallway. He call 1-800-GOT-JUNK and the two workers returned to the house but did not admit to taking the money.

Accidents: A 17 year-old Eastchester boy drove into a utility pole on Taunton Road at 9:15 pm on 11/28. He said he was not familiar with the road and did not see the turn and ran into the pole and a mailbox. He complained of pain in his head and back and was treated by SVAC.

A Rugby Lane woman was hit by a car on the Post Road at 8 pm on Friday 11/30. The driver of the car, a White Plains man, said he was driving north on the Post road when the woman ran in front of his car as she crossed Post Road. She was not in the cross walk. She was hit in the right hip and taken to the White Plains emergency room for treatment.

Lost: An Oak Lane woman reported that her diamond ring that included three canary and three pink diamonds was missing.

Found: A Park Road woman found a wallet belonging to New Rochelle man on Eton Road on November 30th. She turned it over to police who contacted the man via Facebook and left a message for him to call the Scarsdale Police.

Trespasser: A woman who lives on Roosevelt Place repot that she saw a man standing in her backyard around 10 pm on 11/26. She described him at 5'10" wearing a dark wool coat and hat. When the man saw her he ran through her neighbor's yard toward the Post Road. The woman reported a similar incident on November 12th.

Wilson's Jewelers reported a suspicious man in the store on the evening of 11/28. He asked to see some diamond stud earrings and a Rolex watch but ultimately left the store without incident.

Locked in: A 21-month-old child was locked inside an Audi at the Alcott Montessori School on Crane Road at 3 pm on 11/29. Police and RJT assisted in unlocking the car.

Headed for trouble? At 11 pm on 11/29 a worried Innes Road father called police to say that he feared his son was hanging out with the wrong crowd at school who could lead him into serious trouble. The boy had purchased a pair of sneakers for $200 from another student. Police spoke to the boy who explained that his Dad was angry about the sneakers and said there were more issues.

Marital woes: A Stratton Road man requested police assistance when his wife came to house to remove some property on the morning of 11/30. On Lincoln Road a man who is separated from his wife called police when he came to pick up his daughter and she did not want to go with him per the custody agreement because she was tired. She subsequently agreed to go.

Stuck in the tub: Police went to a home on Colvin Road on the afternoon of 12/1 when a man who suffers from Alzheimer's refused to get out of the bathtub. His wife called for assistance.

Dispute: On the evening of 12/1, Birchall Drive residents called to say that their next-door neighbor was taking pictures of their daughter in front of their house. Police spoke to the neighbor who denied taking photos of the girl but was photographing construction that has been going on for "three years." She said she contacted the Building Department about the construction but they did not respond. Police checked the woman's cell phone and saw pictures only of the construction.
