Police Blotter: Feeling the Heat

Road Rage: A traffic dispute on Central Avenue led to an assault and an arrest on Saturday afternoon July 6. According to Greenburgh Police, Anthony Delrosario, age 21 of Yonkers, was driving on Central Avenue with another man when he got into a traffic dispute with another driver. Delrosario got out of his car and smashed the windshield of the victim's car. The victim got out of his car to write down Delrosario's license plate number and Delrosario drove into the man, struck him and threw him onto the hood of the car. As the victim clung to the car hood and driver side mirror, Delrosario sped away with the man on top of his car. About 300 feet later the car slowed down and the victim fell to the pavement and sustained minor injuries. Delrosario then fled south on Central Avenue. Police subsequently tracked down Delrosario and charged him with assault in the second degree criminal mischief in the third degree, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. He was arraigned in Greenburgh Court and released on $2,500 bail.

Harassment: Daniel Witoslawski, 28 years old of Park Avenue in White Plains was arrested on July 5 for aggravated harassment of a 17 year-old Scarsdale girl. Since June 20 he was sending texts to the girl even after she advised him that she no longer wished to have contact with him and asked him to "stay away from her family." The girl was "annoyed, alarmed and frightened by the man." The girl's mother told police that Witoslawski had supplied her daughter with illegal drugs as well. Witoslawski told the girl that her parents are "bad and lazy." He also sent the girl letters with a falsified return address in an effort to get her attention. He was arrested on 7/5 and since he was unable to post $5000 in bail he was sent to jail until his court date of July 10. Judge Arlene Katz issues a temporary order of protection against the defendant.

Andres Torres, age 31 of Queens was picked up at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla and transported to Scarsdale where he was arrested on July 3, 2013 for a burglary that took place on Cushman Road in White Plains on May 25, 2012. Torres is charged with stealing cash from the home on Cushman Road and fleeing on foot to Walworth Avenue where he was caught by Scarsdale Police Chief John Brogan. Torres was then turned over to White Plains police. According to Lt Thomas Altizio of the Scarsdale Police, "Mr. Torres was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property for stolen proceeds that were on him when he was arrested in Scarsdale by Chief Brogan. He was also charged with the burglary he committed in White Plains. The separate charges from both jurisdictions was the result of a recent plea deal that the District Attorney's Office worked out."

Threats: The manager at the Chase Bank on Palmer Avenue in Scarsdale called police on the afternoon of July 2 when a customer threatened "to pop the next person that looks at him." The customer was a regular at the bank who usually complains but never made threats before. Police spoke to the man who said that he previously felt "that his personal space was being invaded." He denied making any threats and told police he had called the Chase District Office to complain about the manager. Police told the man that was no longer allowed to use this Chase branch.

The son of a Fox Meadow man violated an order of protection when he came to his father's Fox Meadow Road home on the morning of July 3. The housekeeper saw the son outside the house and notified his father. Police came to the house where the father presented the order of protection against his son Fernando C. Rodriguez. However by the time police arrived the son was gone and police were not able to contact him.

Car Crimes: A 2013 Lexus, and a 2012 Chrysler that were parked in the driveway of a home on Herkimer Road was entered overnight on July1 -2. In the morning, the owner found that both cars had been tossed and $10.00 in quarters was missing from the Lexus. Both cars had been left unlocked. In addition, a 2012 Toyota Highlander, parked on Old Lyme Road was entered sometime between 6/30 and 7/2. The car was in disarray and $10.00 in coins was missing. Also on Herkimer Road on July 2, the homeowner reported that his car had been entered overnight and several items had been stolen. Missing were a digital camera valued at $200, golf clubs valued at $900, a Garmin GPS valued at $150, an Apple iPod, worth $200, a $300 radar detector and eye glasses valued at $600.00. No damage was done to his car and he believed he left it unlocked.

Identity Theft: A Ridgecrest West man reported that he was the victim of identity theft. On June29 he received an email from Chase Bank to advise that there was a change to his mobile banking profile. He checked his accounts online and found that he no longer had access to his account. Chase told him that two new accounts were opened in his and his wife's names and that two transfers in the amount of $3,500 and $3,900 had been made from his account. Subsequently $1,900 was withdrawn from one of the fraudulent accounts.

Missing Jewels: The son of Oxford Road residents reported that two jewelry boxes containing several expensive watches were removed from the attic of his father's home. One of the watches had been passed down to him from his grandfather. Among the missing items was a 14 karat rosegold Bulova watch valued at $10,000. The man suspects that the watches were taken in late 2010 but he did not report it at that time because his father did not want to make a big deal out of the situation.

Abandoned Van: Police found a 2003 white van at the intersection of Secor Road and Sycamore Road just after midnight on July 3. The van was parked in the road and unoccupied and created a hazardous condition. The van was registered to "Second Two None Enterprises" in Baldwin, NY and said "Fitness Showrooms" on the exterior. Police were unable to locate the owners and had the van towed.

Noise: A Berkeley Road woman called police at 4:55 am when she heard a loud noise and her alarm went off. Police checked the home and found that a piece of the basement ceiling fell in and caused the noise.

Gun: On July 3 a White Plains man surrendered his Glock 19 9mm handgun to Scarsdale police on the instruction of an officer at the NYPD Application Processing Unit. Since the White Plains police were not accepting handguns, he surrendered the gun in Scarsdale.

Gas: The Vice President of Webster Bank on Popham Road called police on Monday morning July 1 when she smelled a strong odor of gas in the bank. Con Edison checked the area and got a positive reading from Little Thai Kitchen at 13 Popham Road. They gained access to the restaurant and found that a gas stove had been left on. The gas was shut off and fans were used to remove the odor. Gas readings were also positive at Skin TheraP on Popham Road and fans were used to get out the smell there as well.

Followed: A 20 year-old Scarsdale girl told police on 7/2 that she was jogging past the Greenacres School around 6:15 pm when the driver of a white four-wheel drive vehicle followed her. She described the driver as a white male around 25-35 years old with a scruffy beard. He waved and smiled at her and then put on his hazard lights and drove slowly by her until a car behind him beeped and caused him to drive away. Police told her to call police immediately if it happens again.

Injured Dog: Scarsdale police got a call from Connecticut police on July 3 when an injured dog registered to a Butler Road address was found there. Since the Scarsdale residents were away, the resident's daughter in Connecticut was notified about the injured dog.

Injured Patron: A woman from Fairfield CT was injured at the Saxon Wood Grill on the night of 7/3 when a chair she was sitting on gave way and caused her to fall to the floor and hit her head. She was taken to White Plains Hospital.

Wreckless Cabbies: Police received a complaint from a woman who parks in the Merchant Lot in Scarsdale and walks to her job on Harwood Court. She said that she has had numerous incidents with aggressive drivers from Scarsdale Central Taxi. Police spoke to the manager of the taxi company who agreed to tell his drivers to be cautious in the parking lot.

Missing Watch: A Wiltshire Road woman reported that her son lost a black Ferrari watch at Westchester Reform Temple on July 5. The watch was valued at $324.00.

Pranks: Police came upon traffic cones and barricades at Post and Ferncliff Roads at 2 am on Saturday 7/6. They stopped two young men who were running from the scene. The boys identified themselves and police learned that a 16-year-old and several friends had set up the barricades as a prank. Police called the boy's father.

Police received a report that someone was throwing bottles off a roof on Popham Road at 12:30 am on Saturday. By the time police arrived the suspects were gone.

Switch Plates: Potter Road residents came to the police station on July 6 to report that their license plates had been removed from their car and replaced with two non-matching NY plates. After speaking to the residents they determined that the plates had been switched at the Palisades Mall the previous day. Police advised the residents to file the complaint in Clarkstown, N.Y.

Knock, Knock! Brite Avenue residents called police on the afternoon of 7/6 when a solicitor was banging on the door and refused to leave. Police found a man from Cablevision who was trying to win back customers who had switched to Verizon. Police told him that he needed a permit to solicit and the man drove away.

Where's My Car? A Garth Road man called police on the afternoon of July 7 to report that his black 2011 Toyota Camry was stolen. Police met the man on Chase Road by the post office where the man thought he had parked. They searched the area and found his car on East Parkway.

Scanned: Anthony Vaccaro, age 42 of New Rochelle, was stopped by police while driving at 5:30 pm on July 6 on Weaver Street when the scanner indicated a suspended registration. His registration was suspended due to a lapse in insurance. The plates were removed from Vaccaro's car and it was towed to his home in New Rochelle. He was issued a summons for driving with a suspended registration.

William Slayton of Mount Vernon was also stopped by police on Weaver Street on July 6 for driving with a suspended registration. The plates were removed from his car, the car was towed and he was issued a summons for driving with a suspended registration.
