Arrests, Thefts and Accidents: from the Scarsdale Police

Arrest: A 23 year-old Scarsdale woman was arrested for grand larceny, forgery and possession of stolen property for removing 8 personal checks from a home on Sharon Lane and cashing them in 2012. In total, $2,437 in cash was taken from the owner's account. Police arrested the woman after they found her name on the checks. They went to the home where she lives with her grandparents and she admitted to taking the checkbook and writing checks to herself. She said that at the time she was having a difficult time with her mother's illness and her own mental illness.
Missing diamonds: A Rectory Lane woman reported that a pair of diamond stud earrings, valued at $15,000 were missing from a bedroom in her home. She left them on a bookshelf in a back bedroom on 1/30/2014 and when she returned to look for them on 2/1/14 they were gone.
Missing wallet: A River Road woman lost her wallet at DeCiccos on the afternoon of February 2 and the following day learned that 10 to 12 attempts had been made to use her credit cards, though only a few, for a total of $200, went through. An attempt to take $200 from the account was made at an ATM machine but was denied. The woman cancelled her credit cards and reported the incident to the police.
A Greenacres Avenue woman was also the victim of identity theft after her wallet was lost or stolen on February 3. The black Cole Hahn wallet contained $200 in cash as well as credit cards, her drivers license a TSA global entry car and the social security numbers of her two daughters. On 2-4, HSBC notified her that there were multiple suspicious charges to her account for a total of about $2,000. Purchases were made at Duane Reade, TJ Maxx and a purchase at World Wide Electronics in NYC was denied.
Shoplifters at CVS: Police responded to a call from CVS on Popham Road at 8:30 pm on 2/9 when the manager recognized two female suspects from previous incidents at the store. He argued with the women and in the process Valentine's Day displays were knocked over. They stopped fighting but the manager asked police to tell the women to stay away from the store.
Accidents: During the snowstorm at 11:30 on Monday 2-3, a Scarsdale woman, driving a 2008 Toyota on Secor Road, skidded, veered off the road, slid down an embankment and ran into some hedges. The car had to be towed out of the embankment but was still drivable.
A White Plains woman driving on Crane Road on the afternoon of February 4 rear-ended a car driven by a Hartsdale woman. The driver of the car that was hit was taken to White Plains Hospital Emergency Room.
A tractor trailer slid off the road at 6:30 am on 2/5 onto the front lawn of a home on Grand Park Avenue. Police found that the truck was not damaged and the driver called a tow truck to move the large tractortrailer. Shortly thereafter the owner of the home on Grand Park called to say that the truck was driving on her lawn.
Threats: An Eton Road man came to police headquarters on the morning of 2/9 to report that his wife had threatened to file false allegations of violence, to have him removed from their home and to tamper with his insulin. Police advised the man to reach out to Scarsdale Family Counseling.
At 8 am on 2/7 police were called to mediate a dispute between two drivers on Mamaroneck Road. The driver of one car alleged that the second driver was following her too closely and that when she stopped short, the second car had hit the back of her car. However police found no damage and determined that the cars were not in contact with each other. The drivers admitted that the cars had not been moved. The complainant said she was concerned with the other driver's demeanor. Police advised the women that this was not a matter for the police.
Found: An iPhone in a blue and black case was found on the Brewster Road side of Scarsdale High School at 9 pm on 2/4 and turned over to police.
Towed: Following an accident on Walworth Avenue on the morning of 2/6, police found that a White Plains woman was driving a car with a suspended registration and no insurance and that the woman did not have a driver's license. The license plates were removed from the 2008 Honda Pilot, the car was towed and the driver was given summons'.
Stranger in the driveway: At 12:45 am on 2/9 a Wildwood Road woman called police when she saw someone at the end of her driveway near her car. She said she shouted and the suspect got into a car and drove off. There was no evidence that her car had been entered or damaged. Later that day she found four minor scratches on her car that she attributed to the incident the previous night.
Worried: A Cooper Road man called police on the morning of 2/3 to express concern for his elderly neighbor who was walking her dog at Saxon Woods Golf Club and lost her car keys. Police checked the area and found the woman as she was leaving the golf club. She had found her keys and did not require help.
Angry dog: A Madison Road woman complained that a dog that belonged to a Wood Lane woman lunged at her and her dog when she was out for a walk on 2/7. The owner of the lab apologized and agreed to get her dog licensed with the Village.
Coyotes: A called reported seeing two coyotes on Saxon Woods Road at 1 pm on 2/9. Police were not able to locate them.
Snow Plows: Police advised the owners of several parked cars that their cars were blocking snow removal equipment overnight on 2/6 -2/7. Owners of cars parked on Heathcote Road, Christie Place, Chase Road, Harwood Court, and East Parkway were called and asked to move their cars.
