The Arthur Manor Neighborhood Association held its Annual 4th of July parade and picnic on a hot and muggy Saturday morning, July 4th, in Arthur Manor. The Arthur Manor Association’s first annual July 4th celebration was held in Davis Park on July 4, 1928! This year, the Association also honored and recognized the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States in 1776.
Parade participants and marchers began assembling at the corner of Bell and Sprague Roads at 9:15 am on the morning of July 4th for the judges to evaluate the various categories of parade and float participants. Each of the judges ranked the individual and group marchers in categories such as tricycles, strollers, bicycles, and of course the floats.

At 9:45 am, Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 (founded on Sprague Road in 1893) began the march leading all of the July 4th parade participants including Scarsdale Mayor Justin Arest and Deputy Village Mayor Dara Gruenberg to Davis Park. Scarsdale’s Fire Chief, Christopher Mytych, also marched with the Volunteer Fire Company members in the parade. Following immediately behind Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 was The New York Patriot Marching Band which provided patriotic marching music for all the parade participants along the route to Davis Park. The parade moved from Bell and Sprague Roads, down Sprague Road to Lyons Road, turning onto Grand Boulevard and then into Davis Park where the parade ended.

Arthur Manor’s own Uncle Sam (played with skill and expertise by local resident Sean Dunn) was in attendance as was an Arthur Manor fan-favorite, volunteer fireman Michael Keating, who drove his antique fire truck in this year’s parade. Several of Scarsdale Village’s active duty fire trucks also participated in this year’s parade.
After all of the marchers and parade watchers arrived in Davis Park, the traditional July 4th ceremony was conducted in front of the flagpole at the North end of the park.

Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Company No. 1’s color guard began the ceremony by raising and then saluting the American flag. Next, the crowd observed a moment of silence to remember all of the men and women, past and present, serving in the U.S. military who have devoted themselves to preserving liberty and democracy in the United States and abroad. Local Arthur Manor high school students Emma Florence and Eden Rieber then beautifully sang the U.S. National Anthem accompanied by music provided by the New York Patriot Marching Band. The group in Davis Park then recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, Scarsdale Mayor Justin Arest addressed the crowd gathered in Davis Park on the significance of the July 4th holiday to the Scarsdale community.

The group of July 4th celebrants in Davis Park also recognized former Village Trustee Matthew Callahan who was in attendance with his family on this special day in Arthur Manor.
Former Arthur Manor President Al Stuart then announced the awards to the marchers and parade participants in the various categories such as patriotic costumes, floats, bicycles, and tricycles. A separate list of the winners of the parade participants follows below.
The Arthur Manor Neighborhood Association’s July 4th parade and picnic was sponsored by its own members and the awards for the 2026 parade and field events were provided by local merchants such as Amore Pizza on Weaver Street, Boun Amici on Scarsdale Avenue, Gianonni’s Deli and Scarsdale Bagels on Garth Road, Happy Days Pizza, Serafina and Mona Lisa Salumeria on Post Road, La Renaissance, The Press, Bango Bowls, Bronx River Books, Popojito’s, Learning Express, and Martine’s in the Village Center, Pizzarelli’s on Depot Place in the Village, Pizza N’ Bites at DeCiccos & Sons in Eastchester, Scoop Shop in the Golden Horseshoe, Wood & Fire on Brooks Street, and Quaker Ridge Bagels on Quaker Ridge Road in New Rochelle. The Arthur Manor Neighborhood Association also wishes to thank Trader Joes in Eastchester for donating the eggs for the egg toss!
The Arthur Manor neighborhood association encourages its residents to buy local whenever possible.
After the 4th of July ceremony was completed, the crowd then walked to the other end of Davis Park for the annual field events including the parent-child relay race, three-legged race, potato sack and wheel-barrow races, and Arthur Manor’s all-time favorite, the annual “egg toss” - first appearing at Arthur Manor’s July 4th picnic in 1944. (A list of the winning field event participants also follows below). Local resident Andrew Krause very skillfully directed the field games this year in Davis Park.
This year’s egg-toss was won by Kiely and Chris Piekarski! (This talented father-daughter team placed first last year too!) Second place winners were brothers James and Shane Kelly, and third place winners were father and son team Andrew and Kai Benevento. Congratulations to all those who participated in the 2026 egg toss event!
The parade and picnic participants all enjoyed the day’s activities and many good memories were made in Davis Park this July 4th. The annual July 4th event also allowed neighbors to reconnect with each other and for residents in Arthur Manor to meet new neighbors and make new friends.
The Arthur Manor July 4th parade and celebration is made possible only through the collective efforts of the many Arthur Manor volunteer residents including especially the Marcus, Mancini, Roche, Krause, Dunn, Resnick-Ault, Gilhool, Bardt-Pellerin, Porco, Bonanno, Bongiorno, Cover, Pollaro, Liang, Clark, Helms, Zhang, and Stuart families, and all of the other Arthur Manor volunteers too numerous to list here. A tremendous THANK YOU to all those residents who helped make the special day happen!
The Arthur Manor Association also wishes to expressly thank the Scarsdale Village Mayor and Trustees, the Village Hall staff, including the Manager and Assistant Manager, Public Works, Highway, Fire and Police departments for enabling this long-standing tradition to continue in Arthur Manor.
The Arthur Manor association encourages all of its residents to start practicing now for the July 4, 2027 egg toss!
