Scarsdale Scout Troop 4 Thanks Wilson & Son For Generous Donation

Scarsdale Scout Troop 4 thanks Wilson & Son Jewelers for their very generous donation of $3,250. To celebrate the 325th anniversary of Scarsdale’s founding, the over 120-year-old fine jewelry company has donated $3,250 a month this year to community organizations in Scarsdale.

Troop 4 has been a Scarsdale-based troop for a few decades. Troop 4’s scouts develop character, civic mindedness, and leadership skills through community service, outdoor activities, and leadership training, all while having lots of fun! Middle and high school-aged scouts, with support from volunteer adult leaders, create and lead activities such as camping, hikes, outdoor games, community service, sports, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) sessions. Troop 4, a secular troop, embodies the values of inclusion, tolerance, and mutual respect for all people.

Each summer, Troop 4 sends Scouts to nearby camps for one week; some scouts choose to go longer. During that week, the Scouts camp in platform tents, work on merit badges and advancement, go ziplining, fishing, whitewater rafting, caving, rock climbing, and swimming. Almost every year, some of our older Scouts participate in high adventure camps at one of four designated BSA sites. In the past, Troop 4 has sent Scouts to Seabase in Florida, Northern Tier along the Minnesota/Canada border, Summit/Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia (as part of National Jamboree), and Philmont in New Mexico.
