Toast 250 Colonial Celebration at Wayside Cottage

Sun. 14 Jun, 2026 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Colonial Celebration for All Ages This Sunday at Wayside Cottage

Wayside Cottage will transform into a Revolutionary-era tavern for all ages at "Toast 250!" on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 PM. The free event hosted by Revolutionary Westchester 250 (RW250) and the Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) will celebrate the Semiquincentennial (1776-2026) and the 325th anniversary of Scarsdale with music and merriment for all ages.

Scarsdale Village’s oldest landmark, Wayside Cottage was occupied by the Varian family during the Revolutionary War years. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites, Wayside Cottage is believed to date back to between 1713-1717, and has evolved and grown over the years from a one-room farmhouse, to a drover's inn, tavern, post office, and Village library. As the present-day custodians, the JLCW has carried out widespread restorations and returned it to its rich Colonial past. Sunday's event will be a rare opportunity to tour the landmark.

JCC Jewish People in ScarsdaleA History of Jewish People in Scarsdale
Tuesday, June 23, 2:00–3:30 PM
Free for All!

Why did Scarsdale become an attractive destination for Jewish families? How did its development differ from that of neighboring communities? What social and institutional barriers did Jewish residents face along the way?

In this FREE lecture, Scarsdale Village historian Jordan Copeland will trace the evolution of Jewish life in Scarsdale from a small, localized presence with limited civic participation to full integration and leadership within the community’s social, civic, and cultural institutions. Placing Scarsdale within the broader historical experience of Jews in America, this talk will present a nuanced account of both achievement and adversity, illuminating how Jews have become an integral part of Scarsdale’s history.
