Police Report: Items Stolen from Two Mamaroneck Road Cars and Summons Issued for a Huge Leaf Pile

PostRoadPhoto by Jim RoseStolen: On Nov. 1, two Mamaroneck Road men, residing at different addresses, reported that items, including credit cards, had been stolen out of their parked vehicles.

Identity theft
On Oct. 28, a Corell Rd. resident reported an incident of identity theft in which an unknown person took out a credit card in his name.

Suspicious
A Fox Meadow Rd. woman reported that a man in an orange sweatshirt came to her house, picked up a package and then put the package back down Oct. 30.

Domestic matters
On Oct. 30, a Quaker Ridge woman reported that her 46-year-old son left her house after having an “outburst.” She was not afraid for her safety, she said.

Cars and roadways
Police notified Optimum about a low-hanging wire on Tunstall Rd. Oct. 27.

On Oct. 27, police issued a 39-year-old Bronx driver a summons for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop on Post Rd.

A passerby noticed a white sedan with heavy front end damage, and the driver bleeding from the mouth, at a traffic light at Post and Crane roads Oct. 28. Police tracked down the car and driver, conducted a traffic stop and learned the driver had been in an accident at an unknown location on a parkway. Westchester County police were called to handle the report.

Police notified Verizon about a low-hanging wire on Tunstall Rd. Oct. 28.

Police called a tow for a disabled car with brake problems on Stonehouse Rd. Oct. 29.

Police stood by while a driver moved his disabled car off the roadway on Popham Rd. and parked his car in a safer location.

One summons was issued at a safety checkpoint set up on Mamaroneck Rd. Oct. 29.

Police notified Con Edison about a low-hanging branch on a wire on Post Rd. Oct. 30.

Village roads were closed due to flooding from heavy rains Oct. 30. Highway workers helped unclog catch basins to improve water drainage.

On Oct. 30, police issued a 22-year-old Scarsdale woman summonses for speeding in a school zone, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Mamaroneck Rd.

On Oct. 30, police looked for a stolen car, out of Clarkstown, that had been tracked to Mamaroneck Rd. The car was no longer there when police arrived.

Police notified Con Edison about a low-hanging branch on a wire on Heathcote Rd. Oct. 30. Shortly thereafter, the tree fell and the wires caught fire. Police closed the road while firefighters mediated the scene and stood by for Con Edison.

A driver could not see the roadway due to poor visibility due to rain at Weaver St. and Hutchinson Ave. and ended up driving her car onto rocks, where it got stuck Oct. 30. Police assisted in getting the car off the rocks. The driver was able to continue driving home.

On Oct. 31, the door of a coffee truck opened while in transit and struck a pole on Murray Hill Rd.

On Oct. 31, police issued a 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operation of a motor vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop on Post Rd.

The sanitation department was notified about debris including a tree branch in the roadway at Hutchinson Ave. Oct. 31.

A tree fell on Mamaroneck Rd. Oct. 31. Highway workers removed it.

Branches fell on Fenimore Rd. Oct. 31. Highway workers removed them.

Branches fell on Heathcote Rd. Oct. 31. Patrol removed them.

Two trees fell on Post Rd. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Highway workers removed them.

Branches fell on Weaver St. Nov. 1. Patrol removed them.

Branches fell on Quentin Rd. Nov. 1. Highway workers removed them.

On Nov. 1, a branch fell onto a car on Mamaroneck Rd., causing damage. The tree was a Village-owned tree.

A branch protruding into Post and Popham roads was removed by police for safety Nov. 1.

On Nov. 2, police issued a 38-year-old Bronx woman summonses for failing to dim bright lights, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operation of a motor vehicle without insurance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Post Rd.

Village code
On Oct. 27, police removed at least 30 political signs that were posted illegally in the Village and discarded them. One summons was issued, in a case where the person posting the sign could be identified.

Callers complained about a large leaf pile on the roadway on Eton Rd. Oct. 30. It was over eight feet wide and blocked traffic. Police issued a summons to the homeowner.

Police asked a Nelson Rd. party host to lower the volume of music after neighbors complained Oct. 31.

Police issued summonses to people using gas-powered leaf blowers on Edgewood Rd. and Carman Rd. Nov. 1.

Police asked a Beechwood Ln. party host to lower the volume of music after neighbors complained Nov. 1.

Police issued a summons to a homeowner at Pinecrest and Dunham roads due to loud screaming from youth and youth running onto neighbors’ properties Nov. 1.

Lost and found
On Oct. 28, a middle school parent reported her daughter lost a rented viola somewhere in the school over two weeks ago, and the viola has not yet been found.

Police found a blue wallet in Christie Place Garage and notified the owner for pickup Oct. 28.

A delivered Amazon package first thought to have been stolen was found behind a flower pot on a Brewster Rd. porch Oct. 29.

A passerby found a driver’s license on Montrose Rd. and gave it to police who vouchered it for safekeeping Oct. 30.

On Nov. 1, a man reported losing a camouflage fanny-pack containing his wallet, ID, credit cards and other personal items outside a business on Chase Rd.

A red wallet was found on a bench on Depot Place Nov. 1.

Firefighters
On Oct. 28, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Chase and Popham Rds.

On Oct. 29, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

An Innes Rd. basement flooded with approximately one foot of water Oct. 30. Firefighters assisted with pumping out the water.

On Oct. 30, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Weaver St. and Crossway.

A Brookby Rd. garage was starting to flood Oct. 30. Firefighters disconnected a partially submerged dehumidifier for safety.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a suspected gas leak on Drake Rd. Oct. 30.

A gas grill was on fire on Brookby Rd. Nov. 1. Firefighters extinguished the fire and disconnected the grill.
