Police Report: Sports Card, Silverware Reported Stolen, Cyclist Hit and a Death in Greenacres

yellowtreeStolen: On May 12, a Tunstall Rd. man reported that he bought a sports card on Ebay, and it was scheduled to be delivered on Nov. 7. A FedEx employee handed him the item, and upon receiving the item, the man noticed that the seal around the box had been tampered with. It even appeared to have been opened prior to delivery. When the man looked inside the box, the item that he had ordered was missing. He spoke to Ebay and was advised to document the incident.

On Nov. 14, a Franklin Rd. resident reported silverware had been stolen from his house. He last saw it approximately five months ago. He suspected a housekeeper possibly took it.

Stolen cars from other jurisdictions
A resident reported that his car went missing after he parked it on a street in Eastchester Nov. 11. Police put the resident in touch with Eastchester police for follow-up.

New Jersey police tracked a stolen car – and Audi Q5 – to the area of Ardmore and Carthage roads Nov. 16. Police saw a speeding car in the area matching the description but could not catch sight of the license plate due to the car’s high rate of speed.

Attempted car break-in
On Nov. 17, a Carthage Rd. man reported that someone walked up his driveway and attempted to open the door of one of his parked cars. The doors were locked so the person left. It was captured on video surveillance.

Help
A man called 911 from a Depot Place bench at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 14. He said he was suicidal and homicidal and had stopped taking his medication. He said he was sitting on a bench at the train station platform wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants and grey shoes. He
stated he did not have any weapons. Police, MTA police and Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps were notified and responded. The man was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for evaluation.

Welfare check
On Nov. 11, police checked the welfare of a 96-year-old Walworth Ave. man at the request of a concerned friend. The man was at a medical facility receiving treatment.

On Nov. 14 and 15, police twice checked the welfare of a Bradley Rd. resident. All was in good order.

Death
A 94-year-old Gorham Rd. woman died at home Nov. 16.

Leaves
On Nov. 12, a Brown Rd. resident was concerned that a neighbor’s landscapers might be blowing leaves over the cover of a storm drain, which could result in flooding. Police attempted to speak with the neighbor, but no one was home.

On Nov. 16, a Wayside Lane resident complained about a large leaf pile in the roadway. Police determined the leaves were not blocking traffic.

Bicyclist hit
A bicyclist was hit by a car at Crane and Fox Meadow roads Nov. 16. Police drove the bicyclist home. The bicyclist did not request medical attention.

Cars and roadways
On Nov. 12, police requested a towing service provider to help a driver change a flat tire on Post Rd.

Police assisted a motorist with a disabled car on Post Rd. Nov. 12.

On Nov. 12, following a traffic stop on Post Rd., police issued a 45-year-old White Plains driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, obstructed vision and a permit violation.

Patrol asked a driver to move a parked car away from a fire hydrant on Colonial Rd. Nov. 13. One other driver parked near the hydrant was issued a summons.

Six car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Dogs
On Nov. 12, police reunited a loose dog with its Valley Rd. owner.

Lost and found
On Nov. 10, a passerby reported finding a diamond ring in the area of Spencer Place and East Parkway around Oct. 20. Police vouchered it for safekeeping.

Keys were found near Oak Lane Nov. 10.

On Nov. 13, a woman reported leaving her wallet on top of her car and driving off after showing a house for sale on Hillview Dr. Oct. 28. The wallet contained credit cards, which an unknown person unsuccessfully attempted to use in Queens.

Village code
On Nov. 14, patrol removed illegally posted signs from Post Rd. Summonses were issued as appropriate.

Firefighters
Firefighters shut gas to a Park Rd. stove after a leak was detected Nov. 10. They stood by for Con Edison.

On Nov. 11, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas odor and a sparking stove in a Saxon Woods Rd. residence.

Firefighters assisted at a rollover car accident on the Bronx River Parkway Nov. 11. The driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center for injuries.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Crossway Nov. 12.

Firefighters cleaned up spilled fuel from a car accident on Weaver St. Nov. 13.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Nov. 14.
