Empty Houses: Police received a report about youths gathering in an unoccupied home on Fairview Road at 11:49 pm on September 6th. A neighbor said that about 20 kids were inside the house and another 10 outside holding what appeared to be alcoholic beverages. The man said he also heard one of the kids vomiting.

Police went to the house and found that the front window of the house had been broken by a large rock that was thrown in from the outside. Inside they found empty beer cans and cups in the yard, as well as a wet $20 bill. Prior to going to the house, at 11:10 that night, police received another call about loud youths in the area. Police stopped them and they said they were walking to the home of a friend on Windmill Lane.

Police received a call about a group of youths congregating near an abandoned home on Richbell Close on the evening of 9-5. They investigated and found no evidence that the kids were hanging out behind the house.

Exposed:

lewd1Greenburgh Police are asking for your help to track down a man who exposed himself to three children at TJ Maxx on Central Avenue at 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 6th. The man exposed his penis to three children ages six, seven and nine and then fled the store. His description is as follows: Medium brown skinned (tan) Hispanic male, approximately 35-40 years old, 5'3" tall, with dark hair and brown eyes. lewd2He was wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans (torn on each leg), and a baseball cap.

Credit Card Fraud:

Greenburgh Police stopped a car at the intersection of Central Avenue and Route 119 on Monday afternoon and were surprised at what they found. The occupants of the car had forty-one fraudulent credit cards in their possession along with an Audemars Piguet Offshore diver watch valued at approximately $16,000.00 from Tarrytown Jewelers. The watch had been purchased with a fraudulent card. They arrested Quatye Alexander dob: 8/24/76, Pauline Foo dob: 9/11/81, and Michael Manning dob: 2/9/84 all from Brooklyn, NY for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd degree (D-felony) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (D-Felony). Alexander, Foo, and Manning were booked and processed at Greenburgh Police Department and later arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court. All parties were remanded to County Jail.

Mischief:

A woman who lives on Boulevard reported that her house was egged at 10:30 pm on September 6. She said she heard a loud thud but did not see anyone outside. The following morning she found that eggs had hit two windows.

A Cooper Road man reported that someone backed up a truck into the post of his gate and knocked it over on September 7th. The truck backed up through a flowerbed and hit the post.

A Horseguard Lane woman told police that the license plates were stolen off her two mopeds on two different dates this summer. On 8/7 she parked her gray moped on Greenacres Avenue and when she returned 8 hours later the license plate was gone. On 8/17, the license plate was stolen off her blue 2001 Vespa when it was parked in the same location.

Identity Thefts:

A Rectory Lane woman reported that someone used her personal and credit card information to purchase an HP laptop computer on July 28th. The laptop was delivered to her home on August 3rd. She cancelled her credit card and returned the laptop.

When a Walworth Avenue man attempted to file his 2014 tax return on September 4, the IRS informed him that someone had used his name and social security number to file a return in July. He came to the police to file a report.

Threats:

A customer reported that an employee made a rude remark to her when she was shopping at DeCicco's on September 5. She believed it was threatening. Police spoke to the customer and the employee and determined that the comment was misinterpreted.

On 9/5 Crossway residents reported the receipt of threatening phone calls from a man named Ron who was selling solar panels. He used foul language and said, "This is death. I need to get you guys at XXXXXX Road. Ha ha ha ha. See ya." Police advised them to record future calls and document incoming phone numbers.

Animals:

Coyote: Brittany Close residents reported seeing a coyote behind #11 on the afternoon of 9-3. Police were unable to locate the coyote.

A German shepherd and a pit bull were spotted on Stratton Road at 7:30 am on September 6. Police found the dogs but were unable to catch them. They followed the dogs to Saxon Woods Golf Course and then met a White Plains woman who was looking for the two dogs. The woman's husband secured the dogs and was given a summon for "Dogs at Large."

Possum: Police went to a home on Dobbs Terrace at 9:20 pm on 9/7 when the resident reported that a raccoon was stuck behind her grill. Police found a small possum that fled when they spotted it.

Party:

Police received a call about a loud party going on at 10 pm on September 6th. They found the party on Sycamore Rad and asked the party coordinator to have the DJ lower the volume on the music.

Summons:

Police stopped an 80-year-old Scarsdale man when he was driving on the Post Road on the morning of 9-6. The car had a suspended registration due to a lack of insurance. The plates were removed from the car and it was parked in the man's driveway. He was given a summons.

Evelyn Manzanares, age 31 of White Plains, was also stopped by police for driving with a suspended registration and without insurance on September 7. Her car was towed to her home and she was given summonses.

LaundryBagDirty Laundry: A bag of laundry that was left outside a home on Walworth Avenue on the morning of August 25th for pick up by the dry cleaners was stolen before the cleaners arrived. The bag contained 5 pairs of pants and 8 shirts, valued at approximately $600.

Burglary on Springdale Road: Police responded to an alarm at a house on Springdale Road at 4:40 pm on August 28 and found that the glass on the back door was shattered. Inside, a safe in the master bedroom was open and empty. The rest of the house appeared to be undisturbed. The resident said several watches were taken from the safe as well as an envelope containing $150 which was taken from a drawer in the bedroom.

Arrests:

Brooklyn Man Arrested for Identity Theft: Police arrested Adrian Smith age 19 of Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn on August 28 for identity theft, possession of forged instrument and grand larceny for cashing $6,830.76 in forged checks from a Mamaroneck Road resident's account. A representative from the bank where the checks were cashed provided the Scarsdale detective with a name and address for the account holder on the forged checks. Police went to the man's house to arrest him. When presented with the checks, Smith said, "oh I received those in the mail from somebody." Smith was brought to Scarsdale where he was booked and processed and arraigned before Judge Arlene Katz who set bail at $15,000. Since he could not make bail he was taken to the Westchester County jail.

Joshua Eugene Simmons, age 40 of Philadelphia, PA was arrested for driving under the influence, unlawful possession of marijuana and refusing to take a chemical text on August 26 after he crashed into a tree while driving on Popham Road. Police followed Simmons to the ER following the accident. Simmons did not remember where he was prior to the accident and admitted to smoking marijuana. He was confused and did not know why he was in the hospital and had impaired perception. Police seized one marijuana cigarette, towed Simmons car and arrested him.

Death: Robert Moss, age 90 of Butler Road passed away on the morning of August 27 at his home. His home health aid notified the family and the police when Ross stopped breathing at 6:30 am. His doctor said he would sign the death certificate and his body was taken to Ballard-Durand funeral parlor.

Accidents:

A Scarsdale woman driving north in the left lane on the Post Road at 8 am on August 30 hit a police car after the policeman put on his emergency lights and made a u turn. The police car cut her off and she hit him. Both cars had to be towed after the accident.

A Mamaroneck woman lost control of her 2014 Toyota at 8 pm on Saturday August 30th while driving east on Mamaroneck Road. Her car jumped the curb and then collided with a telephone pole on the south side of the street.

A White Plains woman who was driving east on Fenimore Road at 1:30 on Tuesday August 26th, lost control of her car, ran into the curb and got two flat tires on the right side of the car and damaged the body of the car. She said she was looking at the radio to change stations when the accident occurred.

A Yonkers man drove into the traffic median in front of 8 Corell Road on the morning of August 27th because he was looking at his cell phone while driving.

Dog: A Hamilton Road woman ran over a dog on Hamilton Road at 4 pm on Friday August 29th. She said she felt her car roll over something and stopped to see what happened. She then realized it was a dog who died before police arrived. The dog belonged to another Hamilton Road resident and was taken to White Plains animal hospital.

Wasp: A Larchmont woman drove into another car on Weaver Street on the afternoon of August 28 when she said a wasp flew into her car. She attempted to get rid of the wasp, lost control of the car and hit the car which was driven by a Brooklyn man.

Found: A BMW car key with a Burke Smart Fitness tag was found in front of the Scarsdale Post Office on Chase Road on the evening of 8/27 and turned over to police.

35BrookbyRoadThouogh many left for vacation, things heated up in Scarsdale this week: Arrest: At midnight on August 16 police found Harold C. Choi, age 39 of Dobbs Ferry and another man passed out in a 1999 Honda on Saxon Woods Road with the engine running. Police found the two asleep in the car, one with a hypodermic needle on his lap and blood coming out of a small hole in his arm, consistent with a needle prick. Harold Choi woke up and did not know where he was or why he was there. Both occupants were asked to get out of the car and were handcuffed. Choi's companion admitted to taking heroin earlier in the day and had two hypodermic needles on him. One of the needles was stuck in his thigh when he exited the car. He was having trouble breathing and was taken to the White Plains Hospital Emergency Room. Choi admitted to taking heroin the prior night and said he had passed out because he was tired. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested for DWAI-Drugs as well as failure to produce a driver's license. He consented to have his blood drawn and was taken to headquarters and then to the hospital for the blood test.

Jogger Accosted:

A female jogger from Greenacres called police on the afternoon of August 15 to say that she had been accosted by a man while she was jogging on Mamaroneck Road. She was confronted by an unknown man who was walking on Mamaroneck Road. He repeatedly asked her where she was going and told her he could take her wherever she was going. When she tried to go around him he put his arms out to his sides to prevent her from passing. Once she got around him, he turned around to follow her but a passerby saw the incident, pulled over and gave her a ride. The man was described as a white male, about 5'7", average build, mid 30's with dark hair wearing dark shades a dark colored short sleeve shirt and gray fitted pants. Police canvassed the area but could not find him.

Burglary: Police went to a Walworth Avenue home at 12:30 pm on August 14 in response to a burglar alarm. They checked the front door and found it was unlocked. Though everything looked fine on the main floor of the house, the master bedroom was tossed. Two drawers were ajar, handbags were on the bed and there were empty jewelry boxes on the dresser. In the basement they found that the sliding glass door had been broked. An alarm speaker behind the door of the main entrance had been ripped from the wall and there were small pieces of jewelry on the floor on the second floor. The incident was determined to be a burglary.

Parties in vacant homes:

A vacant home on Brookby Road was vandalized sometime between August 7 and 11. Realtors who represent the homeowner and the new tenant found a broken Smirnoff bottle in the driveway and more containers for alcoholic beverages on the property on August 11. Inside they found that the rear door was unlocked, sheetrock was damaged, as well as a shelf, door molding and window. The damage was estimated at $2,000.

Also on Brookby Road at another unoccupied home that is for sale police saw several people running from the back of the house at 12:53 am on August 16. They detained one of runners and he told police that he had entered the house with about 15 others to have a party. Inside police found empty beer bottles, unopened beer cans, 2 beer pong tables and cups of beers. Police seized 15 open and 61 unopened cans of beers. They also found a broken window at the house but did not know whether or not this was related to the partiers. Police released the young man to his father and contacted the real estate agent who has the listing for the house.

Diamond Ring: A Bell Road woman came to police on the evening of 8/14 to complain that a jeweler had not given her the proceeds from the sale of her diamond ring. She brought the ring to jeweler Marvin Rafeld in November 2013. The ring was originally appraised at $16,000 but he said he would sell it for $3,600. She did not hear from him for a few months and in April 2014 he told her that he had sold the ring but could not pay her as he had declared bankruptcy. He paid her $750 and said he would pay the balance but has not responded to her phone calls since that time. Police advised her that this was a civil matter.

Road Rage: At 1:35 am on August 12th a taxi driver and his passenger from Greenacres went to police headquarters to complain about an incident of road rage on the Bronx River Parkway. They said the driver of a red Fit or Fiat had honked at them, drove aggressively around their car and made inappropriate hand gestures at them. In addition, the driver pulled over in order to follow them and then trailed them off the parkway to the police station where he circled their car several times. Police were not able to find the suspect and escorted the taxi driver back to the Parkway.

Scams:

A Murray Hill Road woman told police she was the victim of an IRS scam on August 12th. She said she received a letter from the IRS requesting more information on her 2013 tax return, however she had not filed a 2013 return. The IRS said someone may have filed using her husband's SS#.

A woman who had posted a rocking chair for sale on Craig's List told police that she may have received a fraudulent Moneygram as part of a scam. Someone named Peter sent her a Moneygram and sent her a text saying that the Moneygram was for the wrong amount. He asked her to cash it and send him back the difference via Moneygram. The woman turned over the Moneygram to police as it appeared to be fraudulent. Police advised her that this was a scam.

Marital Woes: A Brewster Road woman came to police on the evening of August 12, to say that her husband had disobeyed an order of protection and entered her home. However the order was expired. Her husband came inside and began opening bags and she asked him to leave. He did so taking their three children for visitation.

Pool Hoppers: A Hutchinson Avenue woman reported that kids had jumped into her pool at 11:30 pm on August 12. By the time police arrived the kids were gone.

Bees: A man was stung by bees at the Saxon Woods Golf Course at 11:30 am on August 16th and asked to be taken to the White Plains Emergency Room for treatment.

Found:

A black tote bag with the words "Hate Everyone" on it was found lying on a bench near DeCiccos at 1:50 pm on the afternoon of 8/14. The bag contained a pair of black cycling shoes and four pairs of socks. Items were taken to the police for safekeeping.

Lost Boy: A small child was found in the roadway on Hutchinson Avenue at 6:40 pm on August 17th. Police found the boy on the street and then his father appeared and said they were visiting relatives nearby when the 5 year-old boy ran off the property. He said he would pay more attention in the future.

Food debris and drug paraphernalia were found at the Greenacres playground on the morning of August 16th. Police cleaned it up.

Gas: There was a gas leak at the intersection of Mamaroneck and Cooper Roads on the morning of August 15th. Con Edison, the Scarsdale Fire Department and the County Fire Departments came to the scene, check homes in the area and set up flaggers in the road to allow them to fix the leak.

Pedestrians Hit:

A 14 year-old boy was hit by a 2003 Mercedes on Garth Road at 2:52 pm on August 11.

An employee of NuWay Cleaner was standing between a car and his delivery truck on Rodney Road on the morning of 8/14 when the car rolled into the truck and pinned him between the two vehicles.

Accidents:

A police car that was parked facing south in the northbound lane of the Post Road was sideswiped by a black SUV at noon on 8/15. At the time the incident occurred the police car had its emergency lights activated and was unoccupied. No injuries occurred.

A White Plains woman driving a 2001 BMW ran into a 2013 BMW driven by an Irvington woman at 5 pm on August 14. The woman said her sandal got caught on the accelerator and she accidentally drove into the car in front of her which was stopped in traffic at the time.

Smoke and Fire: A boy was cooking at his home on Wynmor Road on the morning of August 16th when the smoke alarm went off. He left the house and inadvertently locked himself out. The fire department arrived and the smoke alarm sounded again but they could not get inside. As they were attempting to break in, the boy's mother returned home and let them in and the house was found to be safe. The next night, at the same house police got a call about a small fire in the yard of the home. Police found the homeowner and his son roasting marshmallows in a fire in the fire pit.

Animals:

Kent Road residents called police when a raccoon became trapped in their garbage can. Police were able to tilt the can and free the animal. Kingston Road residents called police when a raccoon was found behind his garbage can. Police found a big raccoon as well as two babies and tried to get them to leave the area. They did not appear to be sick so police gave the man the contact information for a trapper.

A white and tan dog was found on Brewster Road at 8:30 pm on August 16th. Police brought the dog to headquarters and it was picked up by the New Rochelle Humane Society.

Summons:

Tito Fernandez, age 55 of Greenwich, CT was stopped at Crossway on the evening of 8/14 for driving with a suspended registration and no insurance. His car was towed and he was issued summons' for driving an uninsured car with a suspended registration.

Brian Sanchez, age 23 of White Plains was stopped on Weaver Street by police for driving a car with stolen license plates at midnight on 8-17. Sanchez said he owned the car but had borrowed the plate from a friend. He was issued summons' for possession of a stolen license plate, and for driving an unregistered car without a valid inspection certificate and released on $200 cash bail.

Signs: Police took down signs for tag sales around Scarsdale and gave the company who posted them summons for posting notices on 8/16.

Hawk
Hawk hit on the Post Road:
On the morning of 8/20 a caller reported that a car hit a hawk on the Post Road. Police found the injured hawk on the side of the road. They called the Weinberg Nature Center who told them to call Vincent Guanari to take the hawk to an exotic animal specialist.

Construction Problems:

On August 22 a Stratton Road woman complained that her neighbors were harassing her about construction work being done on her property. She said her neighbors have used fowl language around her children. Police spoke to the neighbors who said that the complainant also uses harsh language. Though they understand that the work needed to be done they asked that the construction people follow the rules and act courteously. Police advised both to try to avoid one another.

On Secor Road a man complained about excessive construction noise at his neighbors house at 8:49 am on Saturday 8/23. Police found a man operating a backhoe and told him to leave the area as he was not permitted to use it at that time.

Feud: A Lyons Road woman called police when her neighbor was watering her lawn and spraying water onto her property. She said she was unable to get into and out of her car without getting wet. Police corrected the situation.

Riding on the track: Police received a call at 10:30 pm on Sunday night about two kids riding their bikes on the high school track. The caller said the riders had no regard for the people walking the track. Police found the kids and asked them not to ride on the track.

Abandoned Home: A neighbor called police on August 22 when he noticed that a man and a 12 year-old child were mowing the lawn at 2 River Road. The house is condemned has been vacant for two years. Police spoke to the man mowing the lawn who explained that the bank plans to put the house on the market and hired him to mow the lawn.

Stray Dog: A woman found a stray dog wandering on Secor Road at 2:51 pm on August 23. She got out of the car and the dog led her to a home at 173 Secor Road where the door was open and the dog went inside. However no one was home. Police contacted a realtor whose name was on a sign at the house but she had not shown the house and did not know why it was open. The agent contacted the homeowner who returned home and confirmed that the dog was hers and said she was not sure if she had left the house open.

Grand Larceny: A Mamaroneck road woman reported that multiple fraudulent checks, valued at more than $1,000, were cashed against her business account. She received a call from a branch of Bank of America on 107th Street and Broadway where a woman with a Florida driver's license was attempting to cash a check written against her account. The teller grew suspicious and did not cash the check. However, the woman was successful at cashing two additional checks.

The Branch Manager at Bank of America on Wilmot Road called police on the afternoon of 8/19 when a man repeatedly asked that all the funds be withdrawn from his wife's account. The account was on hold and no funds could be withdrawn and the man did not have identification to show that he was the husband of the account holder.

Identity Thefts:

A Brewster Road woman reported that someone filed a tax return in her name on August 18th. The IRS informed her that they had received a joint return from 2013 in her and her husband's name and that it was incomplete. Her accountant contact the IRS and found that her husband's name and social security number had been used to file a fraudulent return. She was advised to report it to the police.

Another Brewster Road resident also reported that a 2013 tax return had been filed using his personal information. The returns were missing information and the IRS wrote to him. When they learned these were fraudulent returns, the IRS sent them to their fraud department.

On 8/20 an Old Orchard Lane man told police that the IRS contacted him and said that someone had attempted to submit a joint tax return for 2013 using his personal information. The man contacted the IRS and advised them it was fraudulent.

A Taunton Road man called police on the afternoon of 8/19 to report that someone had opened a credit card in his daughter's name.

Accidents:

Police received a call from Saxon Woods Golf Club on the afternoon of August 18th to say that a driver overturned in a golf cart. The golfer was taken to White Plains Hospital.

The driver of a rental truck called police on the afternoon of 8/19 when a child rode her bike into the truck and scratched the left bumper. Police went to Rodney Road and met the driver and the girl's parents who agreed to work it out.

The driver of a 2014 BMW said she was rear ended by a black Mercedes truck on the Post Road at 1:38 pm on 8/29. After hitting her car at the intersection of Crane and Post Roads, the truck driver fled. She attempted to follow the truck but lost sight of it.

Jose Lopez of Lexington Avenue in White Plains was driving his 2001 Volvo south on Greenacres Avenue at 4 pm on Sunday 8/24 when sun glare caused him to veer to the right and hit the island at the intersection of Greenacres Avenue and Berkeley Road and hit two stop/yield signs. Lopez refused medical attention.

At 8:20 pm on 8/19 a caller told police that someone had driven a car onto the basketball court at Greenacres Field and parked it there. By the time police arrived, the car was gone.

Paint: White paint spilled on Carman Road on the afternoon of August 19th. Police did not know where the paint came from.

Sign: Police found a sign advertising Woodraska Roofing Company on the Post Road on 8/22. They took the sign down and issued a summons for posting a sign to the company.

Arrests:

Khalid Mughal of 26 of Scarsdale surrendered to police in response to an active bench warrant for various driving violations at 7:55 am on 8/23. He was released on $250 cash bail and given a court date of 8/27/14.

Mark Grinhaus, age 25 of Scarsdale was stopped by police on Weaver Street on the morning of 8/23 for driving a car with a suspended registration due to a lapse in insurance. The plates were removed from the car and it was parked in Grinhaus' driveway.

maryjaneSmoking: A Gatehouse Road woman turned over a backpack that she found near her home to police on August 6. The pack contained a boarding pass belonging to a Claremont Road man as well as two grams of a green leafy substance in a plastic bag. Police contacted the man whose name was on the boarding pass and he said he would speak to his son about the contents of the backpack.

At 2:30 pm on August 8, police saw three young men leaving Butler Woods in two cars. Police checked the area and found a glass bong, a marijuana pipe, a marijuana grinder, smoking tobacco, and a glass mason jar that contained a small bag of marijuana. Police brought these items to headquarters and placed them in an evidence locker.

Drunk: A Fox Meadow Road man called police to say that a drunk woman was in front of his home at 11:48 pm on 8/7. Police arrived and found the woman who appeared to be intoxicated. Police took her home.

Death: Gladys Singer, age 97 of Wakefield Road passed away on the morning of August 10th. Her aide found that she had died when she checked on her at 7 am but reported that she was still breathing at 2 am but not doing well. The aide called Singer's daughter who came to the house at 3 am. The medical examiner was called and the body was transported to a funeral home.

Missing:

More Stolen Bikes: A black mountain bike, valued at $500 was stolen from the bike rack at East Parkway and Christie Place sometime on August 4th. The owner locked it to the rack in the morning and when he returned at 6:45 pm the bike lock was cut and the bike was gone. Also on August 4, a Red Diamond Back hybrid bicycle, valued at $350 was stolen from Scarsdale Avenue. The owner locked it to a fence opposite the Scarsdale Hardware Store at 9:45 am and when he returned at 6:20 pm both the bike and the lock were gone.

A 17 year-old young man who works at Camp Pathunke in Scarsdale reported that $550 was taken from his wallet while he worked at the camp on August 4. The money was inside his wallet in his backpack which he left in a cabinet at the Middle School while he worked. At 4 pm he discovered that the cash was missing from his wallet though everything else was intact.

A Pinecrest Road woman called police at 9:05 am on August 4 when she could not find her 11 year-old son. Shortly thereafter she learned that his grandfather had picked him up earlier in the morning.

Theft:

The owners of a home on Kensington Road reported that several items were stolen from the home during an estate sale at the house. Following the sale the residents noticed that a closet and window seat were taped off, open, and that a laptop computer, a pair of Gucci sunglasses, and two handbags were missing.

Found:

On 8-5, police notified the owner of a 1996 gray Ford, which was left in the Christie Place garage for two – four days to have the car removed from the lot. The car had a broken axle and was propped up on a jack.

A wallet was found in back of the Quaker Ridge School at 2 pm on August 10th. Police contacted the owner and he picked it up.

Animals:

Turtles: Police received a report that four Chinese men had taken turtles out of library pond and were kicking them and stepping on them. Police canvassed the area and did not find the suspects.

Dogs: A Gatehouse Road woman called police at 9:19 pm on 8/6 when she found two large German Shepards on her lawn. Prior to the arrival of the police, a neighbor retrieved the dogs. The caller asked police to follow-up as the dogs have been on her property several times.

Woodchuck: A sick woodchuck was reported at a Heathcote Road home on the morning of August 7. Police found the woodchuck, saw that it was struggling and received permission to dispatch it. The homeowner was told to have it removed from his property.

Bat: A Sheldrake Road man called to say that a large bat was in a bedroom of the house at 8:30 pm on 8/7. Police found the bat, opened the window and allowed the bat to exit.

Fire:

The pool house at a home on Cooper Road went up in flames at 7:41 pm on August 5 while the homeowners were out. Volunteer firefighters, Scarsdale firefighters, and teams from White Plains, Greenville and Hartsdale assisted in putting out the fire. The pool house was being renovated at the time and the damage was estimated at $60,000. The Westchester County Arson Task Force is investigating the cause of the fire.

Police received a call about a fire on Butler Road at 10 pm on August 9th. They found that kids had started a bonfire at a home.

Help: An East Rockaway woman called police when her developmentally disabled daughter got out of the car on Mamaroneck Road and ran into the woods. When police arrived the daughter had returned to the car and took her medication. The mother said she would return to Long Island and consult a psychiatrist.

Identity Theft:

On 8-6 a 49 year-old Wood's Lane man reported that someone had used his personal information to open many credit card accounts in King of Prussia, PA and used the cards to make extensive purchases. Accounts were opened at Brookstone and LL Bean, where the person purchased a down jacket, cameras, and two pair of boots on the credit card. In addition he received an Ann Taylor credit card in the mail and found that $1,841 in merchandise had been charged to that account. Accounts were also opened at Barneys, J. Crew, and the Pottery Barn and $23,000 in purchases were made at Barneys, $3,900 at J. Crew, and $2,900 at the Pottery Barn. The victim called the credit bureaus and reported the fraudulent accounts and charges.

Scam: A Stonehouse Road woman and a Corlayn Road woman both reported the receipt of multiple calls from someone claiming to be with the IRS. Police told them this was a scam.

At 12:31 am on 8/7 a Bell Road man called police to say that someone was using his name to send threatening messages to his ex-girlfriend via Facebook. He said he did not create the Facebook account. No screenshots were shown to substantiate the complaint.

A Cornell Street man said that he was receiving threatening text messages from a landscaper. The landscaper wanted to collect funds that were owed but the homeowner said that the work was not complete. Police advised the man that this was a civil matter.

Graffiti was found on the wall of the stairwell of a Christie Place Garage on August 8. The writing was done with a black sharpie that was found at the scene.

Accident: At 9 am on Thursday morning 8-7 the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet was traveling west on Drake Road. The car in front of him stopped but the driver of the Chevy hit the car in front, then went into the oncoming lane of traffic and the car rolled over and stopped. The driver of the Chevy said he felt dizzy.

Damage: A Sage Terrace man called police on the afternoon of 8/9 to say that the rear window of his 2004 Infiniti had shattered when he closed the driver's side door. He asked police to investigate whether this was a result of criminal activity but they observed no problems.

Toilet: A Highland Way woman called police on 8/5 to say that a red toilet had been sitting on its side of the edge of her driveway for the past week and was an eyesore. Police spoke to the neighbor who left the toilet there who said she would contact the sanitation department to have it removed.

Lost: A Woods Lane woman called police when she dropped her cell phone down a storm drain on Chase Road at 8:15 pm on August 5. Police advised her to call the Highway Department to see if they could help.

Noise: A Richbell Road man called police at 7:52 pm on August 6 to complain about loud music emanating from his neighbor's property. The man felt that the neighbor was directing the music toward his house intentionally. Police spoke to the neighbor who said they would turn off the music by 8 pm and added that they had filed a lawsuit about a fence between the two properties. He believed the neighbor was complaining about the music to retaliate for the suit.

Police stopped and issued summons' to several unregistered drivers this week:

  • Melissa Garcia of Yorktown Heights was stopped on the morning of 8/8
  • Gustavo Burgos of Yonkers was stopped at 1 pm on 8/8
  • Nmaatra Ankhmeni of New Rochelle was stopped at 7:43 pm on 8/10
