Burglary Attempts: Shorty after 8 pm on 7/27 a Palmer Road man got a call from his alarm company to say that his home alarm had been activated. He returned home and found that the basement door had been forced open and the doorframe was broken. However, everything in the house was in order so police suspect that the sounding of the alarm scared off the vandals.
Minutes later, a 77 year-old Penn Road woman heard a loud sound in her home and went downstairs to investigate, where she saw two men on her porch trying to get into her house through the back door. She screamed and the men ran into a car that was parked and running on Penn Road. She was unable to provide a description of the men or the car but police canvassed the area to look for suspects.
Pedestrians Hit: A Scarsdale woman backed her car into a pedestrian at the De Cicco’s parking lot on the afternoon of 7/30. The victim was a New Rochelle man who initially felt no pain and did not want to report the incident to the police. However, at 6 pm he went to Sound Shore Hospital in New Rochelle as he felt pain in his left hip and back. When he got home he reported the incident to the police who called in the driver to complete an accident report.
A pedestrian, rushing to make a train in Scarsdale, ran into a car on Popham Road on 7/29. She entered the Popham Road crosswalk when the “do not walk” signal was on. The passenger side window of the car was damaged but the pedestrian refused medical attention.
At 8 pm on 7/26 Scarsdale Police received a report from Mamaroneck Police of a possible auto accident involving a pedestrian on Weaver Street in front of the Quaker Ridge School. The alleged victim was an elderly man who was jogging on Weaver Street when he was struck in the arm by a black SUV. Police searched the area and the Hutch, and called area hospitals, but were unable to find the victim or a car that matched the description.
Bikers Hit: An Austin man, driving north on Post Road at 9 pm on Monday 7/26 hit two bicyclists who were also riding north on the Post Road. The driver hit both bikes from behind and the car’s windshield and bumper were damaged. The cyclists were taken to White Plains hospital by SVAC and their condition was not reported.
Threats: A Fox Meadow man reported the receipt of text messages from a White Plains man from whom he has an order of protection. In one of the messages, the texter asked to meet the Fox Meadow man at an apartment in White Plains and said that he knew “where to find him and his family” if he did not show up. The White Plains man has a history of assault and there are pending charges against him. The Scarsdale man also reported that he had an altercation with the White Plains man a few days earlier but he did not wish to press charges. He did ask for extra patrol around his house.
Out of Control: Alicia Boyce of Lindenhurst came to Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday morning to answer charges of driving under the influence of drugs. She became irate and refused to give Judge Galloway her new address. He decided that she would need to post bail of $250.00. However, when she was unable to come up with the money, she was sent to Westchester County Jail.
Horse on the Loose: A horse got out of Boulder Brook Stables and was seen running down Mamaroneck Road toward Mamaroneck on Saturday morning 7/31. By the time police arrived, the horse had been caught and put back in the stable.
A stray cat was found in the alley behind Zachys on East Parkway on 7/31. When police were unable to catch it, they called the New Rochelle Humane Society and their representative was able to get the cat into an animal trap. The cat was transported to the New Rochelle Humane Society.
Theft: A Coralyn Road woman reported that her car had been entered and several items were stolen including her GPS device, money, a season’s parking pass to the Bronx Zoo and her iPhone charger. She was not sure when the theft occurred but reported the incident on 7/30.
Fraud: A New Rochelle man went to Wilson Jewelers on 7/31 to return a pearl necklace that he had purchased on July 13th. The man had purchased a Mikimoto pearl necklace for $2,469. However when Mr. Wilson looked at the necklace he realized that this was not the same pearl necklace the man had bought and Wilson refused to take it back. The customer insisted that a salesperson had swapped the necklaces but Mr. Wilson denied it. The customer then left the store.
Damage: Graffiti was painted on three park benches at the Greenacres School. Words were written in both French and Spanish and the damage was discovered on 7/29.
The wooden viewing stand and press box attached to the bleachers at Scarsdale High School was reported to be damaged sometime between 7/23-7/26. A school employee found displaced wood and broken beer bottles on the scene on the night of 7/26.
Penn Boulevard homeowner noticed that the glass panel on their side storm door was broken on Thursday July 29th. Police determined that there had been no attempted burglary and the cause of the damage is not known.
Help: A 104 year-old woman called police and told them that her son was holding her in the house against her will. Police went to the house and spoke to the woman who said her son would not allow her to call her friends. The son told police that the woman hallucinates and police observed that he was doing a good job taking care of his Mom. Police also advised social services of the situation.
Police were called on the night of 7/27 to help a man with his 50 year-old son, who needed “crisis intervention.” The son had a history of mental illness and was taken to the White Pains Hospital Emergency Room for care.
A Greenacres woman called police at 3 am on 8/1 because there was a man lying in the road in front of her house. Police found a drunk local teen in the street who did not say where he had been drinking. They took the boy home and turned him over to his mother.
A River Road woman found trash bags on her lawn on 7/27. Police assisted the elderly woman and moved the bags to an area where they would be picked up by Scarsdale sanitation.
Lost: A 20 year-old Heathcote girl misplaced her wallet at Starbucks in Scarsdale around 4 pm on August 1st. Later that night she realized her wallet was missing and called her credit card companies to cancel her accounts. By then one of the cards had already been used to purchase gas.
Guilia Flynn of Thornwood lost her Gucci wallet somewhere around DeCicco’s in Scarsdale on 7/29. Cash, a driver’s license, an Italian passport, a green card a debit card and an insurance card were all in the wallet. She was advised to cancel her credit cards and contact the Italian consulate in New York.
Identity Theft: A Secor Road woman found that someone had opened credit cards in her name at both Macy’s and J.C. Penney’s. In late May, $927.77 was charged on the Macy’s card in North Carolina and in June, $1,051.67 was charged to the Penney’s car, also in N.C.
A Bradford Road found that four checks, valued at almost $10,000 had been cashed from her Chase Bank Checking account. The checks were signed in her name with a false signature. She was not aware how anyone had gotten access to her checks.
A Black Birch Road man found that someone had used his Chase Checking account and a false id to deposit and withdraw funds from his account on July 26th at a branch in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Police removed a sign for “Junkluggers” that was posted on Post Road. A summons was issued to the company for violating Village code.
A cab owned by Central Taxi was left with both the driver’s side and passenger side doors open in the parking lot across from the Scarsdale Congregational Church on Sunday night. Police contacted Central Taxi who said that the driver remembered leaving the doors open and asked the police to close the car doors.
The Highway Department removed a bike rack from East Parkway in Scarsdale and turned three bikes they found there over to the police. If your bike was locked on the rack, get in touch with the police to claim your wheels.
Car Thief Nabbed, Coyote Sightings and a DWI

Caught Red Handed: A suspect behind the car break-ins in Greenacres and Fox Meadow is in the custody of the White Plains Police, nabbed by a Scarsdale patrolman. Scarsdale Police, on the lookout for the vandal spotted a man with a black backpack walking in the area of Farley and Brewster Roads in Greenacres at 11:30 pm on Monday night July 19th. When the man saw the police car he tried to flee, but the officer stopped him. The suspect admitted that he was carrying a knife in his pack and upon further questioning admitted to entering several cars in White Plains earlier that night.
Further investigation revealed that he had driven a stolen 2003 GMC Yukon to the area, which he had stolen in Mamaroneck several days prior. Since it did not appear that he had committed a crime in Scarsdale that night, Scarsdale Police called White Plains police who arrested the man for larceny. According to Scarsdale Lieutenant Bryant Clark, the suspect, who was identified as 19 year-old Yoan Cuateco, is a strong suspect in the rash of car break-ins that has plagued Greenacres and Fox Meadow in the past few months.
Death on Shawnee Road: A visitor to a Scarsdale caretaker on Shawnee Road died there on the morning of July 26. Johanna V. Haizel, of New Rock, New Jersey had come to town to visit a friend who cares for a woman on Shawnee Road. In the early hours of the morning Ms. Haizel complained that she was having difficulty breathing and was overheated and decided to take a shower. Shortly thereafter she was found lying face up in the tub with the water still running. Police removed the shower door, and lifted the woman from the tub. CPR was performed but Ms. Haizel could not be revived and she was pronounced dead at 6:24 am on 7/26.
Drunk Driver: This just in from the Journal News: An Eastchester mom was arrested for drunk driving at the White Plains Hospital on Sunday night 7/25. The woman cut her finger and drove herself and her son to the hospital emergency room around 10 pm. A physician’s assistant smelled alcohol on her breath and called White Plains Police. When she failed a sobriety test the woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated and her son was released to her husband.
Missing: A 17 year-old Black Birch Lane girl returned home on 7/19, after she was missing for two weeks. Due to the girl’s past history she was wanted by the NYS Family Court in Westchester as a Person in Need of Supervision (PINS). Scarsdale Police arrested her, transported her to headquarters, searched her and brought her to Family Court in Westchester. Subsequently she was turned over to her mother.
Fraud: A hacker gained access to a Circle Road resident’s email account on 7/24 and changed the password. The hacker then sent out “Help Letters” to all the names in the account email address book requesting that money be sent to an account with a different email address.
A Fayette Road man reported that someone tried to open a fraudulent State Farm auto insurance policy for a 2008 Audi A6 in his name on 7/19. He never contacted State Farm and does not drive an Audi.
The daughter of Walworth Road residents was the victim of a fraudulent check scheme on Craig’s List. The daughter had advertised for a roommate in Chicago and a girl named Karen responded and sent a check for $2,850.00. Karen asked that the rent be deducted and the balance of $2,172.00 be returned to her by Western Union. The Walworth Road resident refused to wire the money but did send a personal check for $2,172.00 to the given address. The check for $2,172 was cashed, but it turned out that the original check for $2,850.00 was a fraudulent check and the Scarsdale residents are now out $2,172.00.
The mother of a 15 year-old girl reported that she was receiving sexually explicit text messages on her phone. She had ignored similar messages when she received them in June, but they resumed on 7/20. She does not know if the messages were directed to her or sent to the wrong phone number.
Theft: A Rolex watch, valued at $10,000 was reported missing from a Church Lane man’s nightstand on 7/23. The man reported that numerous people had been in the house during the time period that the watch disappeared.
Wildlife: A Wheelock Road woman found a raccoon with a jar of peanut butter on its head on her patio on the morning of 7/20. She summoned police but they were unable to capture the animal that fled into the shrubbery.
Shortly thereafter, a coyote was spotted at the intersection of the Post Road and Oxford Road but police were unable to find it.
At 9 a.m. Black Birch Road residents found the body of an unknown animal in their yard. Police were unable to identify the type of animal but placed it in a sanitation bag for pick-up.
Another coyote was spotted on Brookby Road on the evening of July 21. Police searched the area but were unable to locate it.
On the night of July 22nd Brittany Close residents reported a coyote in their backyard but police were unable to find it.
An injured fox was reported to be behind the garage of a Lee Road home. Police arrived and the animal ran off and police concluded that it was healthy.
Dog Attack: A Rock Creek Lane woman was out walking her dog on July 22nd when one of her neighbor’s dogs broke free from the leash and went after her dog. The woman picked up her dog to protect him and the attacking dog jumped on the woman and scratched her arm and ankle. In addition, her dog was bitten several times. The neighbor agreed to cover the cost of any veterinarian bills and vowed that this would not occur again. However, the dogs that attacked were the same ones involved in an incident in mid-June, reported on Scarsdale10583.
The owner of a sick dog asked police for help on the afternoon of July 21. Police picked up the dog in front of Scarsdale High School and transported it to the Scarsdale Animal Hospital.
Dispute: The owner of a Scarsdale Avenue service station hired a Port Chester man to paint the garage and paid him $1,350 by check in advance of the work. However, when the check bounced, the man refused to paint. They called police on July 22nd to settle the dispute and police advised them that this was a civil matter. Later that same day, the owner of the service station reported receiving a threatening text message from the ex-employee. The message said, “I also live in Port Chester and I know people there watch out.”
Noise: A caller complained that people were playing basketball at the Greenacres School after 10 pm on July 22nd. Police asked them to leave the area and they complied. On July 23rd, youths were reported at Fox Meadow School at 10 pm. When police arrived, they left. Police asked Hampton Road residents to turn down the music on the night of 7/24 after they received a complaint from a neighbor.
A River Road man called police at 11 pm on July 24 when he saw two people flee out of their car after an accident on the Bronx River Parkway. Police checked the Greenacres area for the occupants of the car, but were not able to find them.
A biker complained that kids in blue compact car on Heathcote Road sprayed him with liquid at 10 pm on July 22nd. Police were not able to locate the culprits.
A Ridgecrest East resident noticed black fluid leaking from a Con Edison utility pole in front of his home on July 19th. Police reported the leak to Con Ed and the Scarsdale Fire Department who arrived and confirmed a leaking transformer. Con Ed bagged the transformer to halt the leak.
The Manager of the Scarsdale Pool found evidence of trespassers on the grounds of the pool when she arrived on the morning of 7/24. During the previous night, someone had left beer cans and cigarette butts on the pool grounds.
A Fenimore Road woman reported that she tripped on downed tree branches on Cohawney Road when she was walking her dog at 11:30 on the night of July 25th. The woman fractured her nose and bruised her eye in the fall.
Lost and Found: Passersby found a three year-old child in the middle of Mamaroneck Road at 8 pm on July 24th. Drivers stopped to see if the child needed help and he ran to the door of his house. The parents claim that the boy got close to the road but never went into the street.
Larchmont resident Evelyn Berry left her purse at Balducci's on July 19 and reported it to the police. Ultimately, her purse was returned to her with all of the contacts intact.
A wallet belonging to a Garth Road woman was found at Village Court on the afternoon of 7/21. Police contacted the woman and she came to Village Hall to retrieve her wallet.
Police spotted a car with a license plate that had previously been reported as stolen while driving on Mamaroneck Road. They used the license plate number to locate the address to which the car was registered. It turns out, that though the resident had reported her plates stolen to the police, she was reissued new plates with the original numbers. Police advised the woman to surrender her plates and ask for new ones.
From the Greenburgh Police
Theft: At 6:30 am on July 20th two men were seen loading restaurant shelving into their truck at El Dorado restaurant at 784 South Central Avenue. They loaded the shelving into their 1991 Ford Econoline Van but were warned that these were not garbage and not up for grabs. Despite the warning, the two men drove off with the shelving, which is valued at $5,000.00.
A cashier at Panera Break Company on Central Avenue was caught stealing money from the register. Stephanie Gulliver, age 18 of Yonkers had been issuing false refunds to herself and keeping the cash from the register. When confronted on 7/20 she admitted to stealing the money out of the register and signed a confession. She was terminated from her job and agreed to reimburse the store $883.97 or face prosecution. Her parents were supposed to bring in the stolen funds, but when they failed to do so, the company called police to press charges against her.
Police were called on 7/21 when a dental office at 1075 South Central Avenue was robbed. The thief stole purses, handbags wallets, credit cards and personal papers. Employees at the office were unable to give an accurate description of the suspect.
Damage: Richard Daniels, a loss prevention officer at Marshalls came to headquarters on July 20th to report that his car was scratched while he was parked at the store. He suspects that a man he caught shoplifting on July 16th may have done the damage. According to Daniels, he had run into the shoplifter on the 19th in the Bronx and felt threatened by him.
A drunk mom got into a fight with her son at the Hartsdale Garden Apartments at 27 North Central Avenue at 11:30pm on 7/23. During the altercation, Vere Anwar Smith of the Bronx punched and broke a window. The Building Super wanted to press charges for the damage and Smith was handcuffed and taken to police headquarters where he was arrested for Criminal Mischief.
Caught: Police were called on 7/22 when Lookman Adedamola Kinoshi and Allan A Camphoo, both age 26 of Brooklyn, were acting strangely in Best Buy on Central Avenue. When the men left the store, a detective followed their car and pulled them over for changing lanes without signaling. The men both presented fraudulent i.d. and licenses and were booked for possession of forged instruments. Their Toyota Camry was impounded.
A Hoarder, An Armed Man and A Lady of the Night

A woman called police on 7/12 to ask them to check on her 80 year-old mothers, after she was unable to reach her for several days. Police knocked on the door of the Popham Road apartment at the address provided by the daughter but there was no answer. They asked the landlord to help them open the door, and when they did they found that they could only open it about six inches, because debris was blocking the door.
The scantily dressed resident did appear and said that she did not hear the knocking due to the air conditioner. The entire apartment was overtaken with debris, almost piled up to the ceiling in some spots and three feet deep in others. There was little room to navigate. The apartment was very hot but the woman claimed to be fine and said she was eating and drinking.
Police left the apartment and called back the daughter who said she was aware of her mother’s hoarding issue. Police gave the daughter the number of Scarsdale and Edgemont Family Counseling and advised the daughter that the apartment needed to be cleaned up. Police will do a follow-up visit in two weeks and have notified the Fire Department.
In a similar incident on 7/12, police were called to check on a Bradford Road woman when her daughter could not reach her by phone. No one answered the door at the home and police could not see the woman through the windows. The Fire Department arrived and forced their way in via the patio where they damaged a glass pane on the patio door. The woman was not home and subsequently drove up in her car and appeared to be fine.
Thefts: A Carthage Road woman, whose home is for sale, reported that jewelry, valued at $2000 had been taken from her home sometime between May 27 and July 16. A rear basement door was found to be pried open and the knob was removed. Though house had not been tossed but the woman’s jewelry bags had been opened and emptied.
A Tewkesbury Road woman donated 200 books to the Scarsdale Library on July 5th. On July 8th, she realized that one of the books that she had given away was actually a fake book that she used to store and conceal her jewelry. She went back to the library and reported what had happened, but got word from the library on July 9th that the book was found empty. Missing, was over $10,000 in jewelry, including a diamond wedding band and pearls.
A woman had her purse including ids, cash a credit card and keys stolen from IHM on July 15th. She had placed her bag under a chair in the adoration chapel and when she returned it was gone.
Cohawney Road residents awoke on the morning of July 12th and found that their 2010 red Lexus was missing from the driveway. Also gone, were cd’s, a gift card, sunglasses, umbrellas and an Apple iTouch that had been stored in the car. The car was locked and the owner has both sets of keys and did not hear anything unusual during the night.
Lost and found: Two young children were found unattended on Palmer Avenue on the afternoon of July 15th. Police learned that they lived on Mamaroneck Avenue and found their father searching for the children. They had been playing in a fenced in yard, but decided to leave a note to say they were leaving home. When the father found the note he dialed 911 but was reunited with his kids.
A blue Pacific bicycle was found in the yard of Post Road home on the night of July 15. The bike is being stored by the Scarsdale police.
Harassed: A Harvest Drive woman received some disturbing phone calls on the night of July 12th. When she picked up the phone she heard young adults imitating babies, and the caller knew both the woman and her son’s names.
Brooklyn resident Jessica Wisloski and a passenger were travelling on Heathcote Road on the afternoon of 7/13 when they were followed and honked at by a man in a gray Toyota. When they stopped at an intersection, the man got out of his car and yelled, “what are you doing, you guys can get arrested.” The complainants only wished to document the event.
A driver got stuck in the parking lot under CVS on Popham Road on 7/13 when the traffic arm got stuck. When police arrived, the arm had been fixed.
On 7/15 a Carthage Road man found tree branches resting on a power line on his property. A tree had been cut down but branches were left on the lines. Police contacted Con Edison who said that they were working in the area the previous day and may have cut the tree in an attempt to fix a power outage. Con Ed did not plan to return and remove the branches and advised the resident that it was his responsibility to do so.
Scammers contacted an Edgewood woman on 7/14 and claimed that she owed 800 Euros on her MasterCard. The woman did not have a MasterCard and thought the callers may have been attempting to get her personal information.
Water was reported to be seeping from a crack in the road in front of a Tunstall Road home on July 14th. The steady stream of water was reported to the Highway Department and cones were placed in the area as a precaution.
Water was also found to be spraying from a broken line on Walworth Avenue on the night of 7/17. The homeowner reported that the Village had damaged a sprinkler line when they removed a tree, and said that she would have it fixed.
An area resident called police to report a violation of the water restrictions on Ferncliff Road, where watering is permitted on Tuesdays and Fridays. Police spoke to the homeowner who was unaware of the restrictions and agreed to turn off the water.
Anyone there? Police responded to a report of a house with an open front door on Bell Road on the morning of 7/15. The door was wide open and it appeared that no one was home. Police checked the home and found a man in the basement. He told police that he works for the homeowners.
Abandoned car: The owner of the service station at 1 Palmer Avenue called police to say that a woman from Maine had left her 1998 green Ford Windstar at his station on 6/29 and failed to come back to retrieve it. The woman had the car towed to the station and agreed to have the fuel pump replaced. She later called the station and asked them to stop work on the car and said she would send a tow truck to retrieve it. On July 3rd she returned to take something out of the car but has not been back since. The station owner has been unable to reach her and police advised him that this is a civil matter.
Naptime: Police received a call to report that a woman was lying on Lyons Road at noon on 7/16. They found 90 year-old Ms. Li lying in the street on Lyons Road. She said that she got tired while out walking and decided to take a break.
A large tree branch fell off a village-owned tree and damaged an Ogden Road homeowner’s light fixture on July 17th.
An unknown car rode over Belgian block, arborvitaes and grass at a Palmer Road home and damaged the landscaping on July 13.
A loud keg party on Ogden Road was broken up at 1 am on July 12th. Police gave one boy a summons for underage drinking when he admitted that he brought the keg to the bash.
At 6:40 am on 7/18 a Tompkins Road man reported that someone in a passing car had thrown white kitchen garbage bags containing garbage and beer cans onto his front lawn. He heard the sound of a car speeding away shortly before he discovered the garbage.
Edgemont and Greenburgh:
Fox on the roof: A fox was found on the roof of a Glendale Road home at 7 pm on July 13th. Police shot a pepper ball round at the fox that jumped off the roof and ran into the woods. Police searched the area for the animal but were unable to find it.
On the afternoon of July 14th an employee of Harmon on Central Avenue reported a possible larceny. Two female customers were leaving the store with the alarm when off. The employee asked the women to stop so that she could check their bags but they left the store and got into a gray Honda and went south on Central Avenue. The employee did not know if any merchandise was missing.
Armed: An armed prison guard was caught shoplifting at Marshalls at 6 pm on July 16th. Security caught the man taking property on video and leaving the store with concealed merchandise. When the security officer asked the offender for I’d., the man said he was a federal officer with the Department of Corrections. He lifted his shirt to show a firearm in his waistband. The firearm was seized the man was taken to Greenburgh Police Headquarters for booking.
Prostitute: The Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force arrested a 44 year-old Flushing woman for prostitution at 100 North Central Avenue in Hartsdale after a short investigation. The woman agreed to engage in oral sex with an undercover police office for a fee of $100. She was arrested and taken to Greenburgh Police headquarters where she was booked, mugged, printed and released for a 7/23 court date.
A Mt. Vernon woman’s wallet was stolen from her bag while she was at the Spotlight Café on Sunday night 7/18. She lost her wallet, credit and debit cards.
Feuding Roommates: A Poe Street man reported that another resident of his Hartsdale home harassed him on July 18th.. The woman hit him in the back and stomach, shut a laptop on his hand, locked him in the bathroom and said “I hope you die.”
Neighbors on Elizabeth Street argued about a property line on July 13th. One man threw a sign that the other had posted into the woods. The man also claimed that his neighbor had thrown 10-12 foot long bamboo branches and grass clippings onto his property.
City Fest 2010 in White Plains Today

There is food, games, and rides. No swimming in the fountain though!
Huge Fire Ablaze in White Plains

A huge fire broke out Wednesday afternoon around 3 pm on East Post Road in White Plains. Firefighters report that the fire started in the basement of the Indian restaurant Bengal Tiger at 140 East Post Road and quickly spread to the neighboring strip of stores and restaurants that includes a shoe store, a dry cleaner and a Latin American Cafe. Nearly three hours later the fire was still ablaze with thick smoke billowing above and engulfing downtown White Plains. Due to the heavy smoke, firefighters could not enter the buildings and were forced to fight the fire by spraying water from the street.
Leaping red and orange flames could be seen emerging from the site as fire trucks sprayed water on the roof and through the building facade. It is not known whether chemicals from the dry cleaner contributed to the ferocity of the fire.
Fire companies from Greenville, Fairview, New Rochelle, Harrison, Armonk Scarsdale and Hartsdale came to the assistance of White Plains firefighters in addition to the Salvation Army, volunteers from White Plains Hospital, the Red Cross and several transport crews. At least 30 firefighters were taken to White Plains Hospital for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion. All but one of the occupants of the buildings escaped unharmed. Volunteers brought towels and water to help the firefighters. Con Edison was on the scene to cut power to the block. According to Mayor Carolyn Stevens, a separate fire in the White Plains substation was the cause of widespread power outages in Scarsdale, not the fire on East Post Road.
Large crowds assembled to watch the spectacle and White Plains police re-routed traffic away from the scene. As of 9:30 pm the fire was under control but East Post Road remained closed.
Bengal Tire has been an area favorite for years, well known for their Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer and Naan. Greeted by the host in a red turban, customers would often line up at the bar and drink a Kingfisher while they waited for a table. With their restaurant now in ruins, we hope the owners are able to find a new location and reopen.
