coyoteDWI: While conducting routine patrol in Mamaroneck Road at 3 a.m., July 20, police observed a 2013 Range Rover abruptly stop numerous times on Mamaroneck Road and make abrupt turns that brought the car in circles. Police conducted a traffic stop, and the driver – Timothy Bolton, 26, of New York City – told police he was coming from New Canaan, Connecticut, and looking for the train station. His breath smelled of alcohol, and Bolton told police he had consumed two glasses of wine. An alco-sensor test indicated the presence of alcohol on his breath. He was arrested, booked and processed at headquarters and released with an appearance ticket to appear at Scarsdale Village Justice Court on July 24.

Identity theft
On July 16, a Woods Lane woman reported someone fraudulently withdrew funds totaling $1,439 from her Bank of America account. The unknown person used a forged check to execute the transaction.

On July 17, a Greenacres Avenue man reported that someone fraudulently withdrew approximately $150,000 from his checking account in four fraudulent transactions. The transactions involved fraudulent checks written in another jurisdiction. The man spoke with a suspect regarding the fraudulent checks and funds from only one check has been reimbursed. The man said he was interested in pursuing criminal charges.

Prank call
Police received a prank call from an anonymous caller alleging an Old Lyme Road resident had been beaten up. Police investigated and determined the call was a prank. There was no need for police assistance.

Noise
A caller complained of construction noises on Sheldrake Road at 6:20 a.m., July 16. Police investigated the noises and determined woodpeckers were causing them.

Broken window
A highway department employee reported that while “weed whacking” on Mamaroneck Road, a rock was kicked up and into the passenger window of a 2019 Toyota, causing the window to break July 16. Police took photos of the window and notified the car’s owner.

Loitering
A man was reported to be lingering around a Mamaroneck Road temple with no legitimate reason July 16. He was questioned by police. The man told police he was looking for a bus stop in order to catch a bus to take him home.

Cars and roadways
Police helped a woman cross Weaver Street July 15, 18, 19 and 21.

After a caller complained about a possible roadway hazard caused by a dead animal, police moved a chipmunk carcass to the side od Butler Road and Brite Avenue July 16.

Police notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Mamaroneck Road July 17.

Six summonses were issued at a safety checkpoint on Mamaroneck Road July 17.

Police removed fallen branches from Huntington Avenue July 17.

Roadway plates shifted on Griffen Avenue and Weaver Street, leaving an exposed hole July 17. Police notified the highway department for replacement.

A person sitting in a parked car on River Road was questioned by police July 17. The person said he was watching a movie on his phone. There was no sign of illegal activity.

A 2017 Jeep was repossessed from a Sherbrooke Road residence July 18.

Police erected barricades around flooded sections of Brookby, Sprague and Clarence roads to alert drivers July 18.

A driver was nervous about backing her car out of a tight parking space on Scarsdale Avenue July 18. Police assisted her in successfully backing out her car.

A car was idling on Heathcote Road July 18. The owner was not aware of the condition until informed by police.

Dispatch notified the highway department about a dead raccoon on Mamaroneck Road July 19.

As per police instruction, drivers moved parked cars from Wayside Lane in order to alleviate roadway congestion July 19.

A discarded mailbox box bearing the number 119 was found on Mamaroneck Road at 2 a.m., July 20.

Nine car accidents were reported in the village this week.

Village code
On July 15, police issued summonses to landscapers on Tompkins and Montrose roads for using gas-powered leaf blowers in violation of village code.

On July 16, police issued summonses to landscapers on Greenacres and Brite avenues and Murray Hill Road for using gas-powered leaf blowers in violation of village code.

On July 17, police issued a summons to a landscaper on Brite Avenue for using a gas-powered leaf blower in violation of village code.

On July 19, police issued summonsed to landscapers on Duck Pond Road, Greenacres Avenue and Morris Lane for using gas-powered leaf blowers in violation of village code.

Kids
Police assisted a homeowner in dispersing uninvited guests who showed up at her son’s party and started causing a lot of noise in the neighborhood July 20.

Animals
A Deerfield Lane resident reported seeing a coyote in the backyard July 16.

Police took custody of a dog left outside without food, water or shelter on Gaylor Road after a neighbor complained of ongoing noise from the dog July 20. When the owner picked up the dog later that evening, the owner was issued two summonses.

Lost and found
A woman came to headquarters to report she could not find her driver’s license July 15. She said the last time she saw it was when she had been arrested by police in March.

A woman found a wallet on Greenacres Avenue July 16. Police contacted the owner of the wallet, and the owner picked up the wallet from headquarters.

On July 16, a Murray Hill Road woman reported her wedding and engagement rings, worth $12,800, had been lost from her house sometime between July 4 and 5. She reported the rings were last seen on a kitchen windowsill.

Cars keys were found on Scarsdale Avenue July 18. It was determined that the keys belonged to a car parked on the street. Police placed a note inside the car regarding the found car keys. The owner contacted police later that day in order to retrieve the car keys.

A woman reported losing an iPad in a CVS store in Harrison July 18. On July 19, she came to headquarters to report that the location of the iPad pinged to a Sheldrake Road address. On July 19, Scarsdale police went to the address to investigate. There, a resident told police he had found the iPad in his shopping cart while at CVS. He said he first had the intention of bringing it to a Verizon store. Then, he noticed the iPad’s screen displayed a message that it was lost and to contact the owner at a phone number displayed on the screen. The resident then left a message for the owner, he said. Police told the resident they would facilitate the return of the iPad to its owner. The owner picked up the lost iPad from headquarters.

Firefighters
On July 16, firefighters dispatched Con Edison to a Lawrence Road house because of elevated carbon monoxide. Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps was called to evaluate a treat a non-ambulatory resident for possible carbon monoxide exposure while firefighters isolated the carbon monoxide leak in the basement, shut down the boiler and hot water heater and ventilated the house.

On July 16, firefighters assisted at a four-car accident on Weaver Street. One person was transported to the hospital; for injuries, and two cars were towed.

On July 17, Eastchester Fire Department requested mutual aid for a structure fire. Firefighters assisted in helping EFD extinguish the fire.

Humidity was creating a slight smoke odor in an Old Lyme house due to a downdraft in the fireplace July 19. Firefighters evaluated the odor and determined there was no cause for alarm.

On July 21, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of wires burning and spreading fire into trees on Dolma Road. Firefighters used a hose line to keep the fire from spreading to other trees. They also soaked mulch below to make sure the fire would not spread to the ground while Con Edison was addressing the wires. Fire watch continued for about 40 minutes until the situation was determined to be under control.

WigPolice were called to a Boniface Circle store on a report of shoplifting in progress July 10. Employees who reported the matter stated two slim, dark-skinned women wearing wigs were taking merchandise and placing them beneath their skirts. When police entered the store, the suspects left, dropping some items in the hallway lobby of the Harwood Building. The suspects were observed going up in an elevator, and police began to search the building. Police located the suspects in the third floor stairwell. The suspects dropped the stolen merchandise and ran down the stairs and through an exit onto Chase Road. Police stopped the suspects on Chase Road in front of their car. In the midst of fleeing, the suspects had discarded all of the stolen items, and one suspect had removed her wig and changes from a purple dress to pair of black leggings and a white T-shirt in an attempt to change her appearance. The manager of the Boniface Store was satisfied that all of the stolen property had been returned and did not wish to pursue charges. One of the suspects had an active arrest warrant out of New York City for petit larceny. NYPD was notified but stated it did not want to pick up the suspect and execute the arrest warrant. Both suspects were advised they were no longer welcome in the store and were released. The total amount of stolen items, which were recovered, was $877.86.

DWI arrest
At 6:37 a.m., July 11, a parks and recreation employee reported a suspicious young man in a parked car at Supply Field July 12. The man was with a young woman and they were observed by witnesses to be “acting erratically” and had reportedly pulled into the parking lot and asked the employee for help. Police arrived on scene and the man – Christian Castillo, 21, of Stamford – said he was drunk and had parked his car so he did not have to drive. He also told police his license was suspended. While speaking with Castillo, police detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Castillo agreed to an alco-sensor pre-screening test, which indicated the presence of alcohol on his breath. At headquarters, a Datamaster test measured Castillo’s blood alcohol at .16. A computer check of Castillo’s pedigree information indicated that Castillo had a suspended driver’s license in New York State, and it also revealed an active warrant from West Virginia with no extradition (in-state pickup only). Upon searching Castillo’s car, police found marijuana and THC oil cartridges. Castillo was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense), operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of one percent of alcohol or more (first offense), criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver and unlawful possession of marijuana. Castillo was released on $200 cash bail and issued an appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court on July 17.

Restriction violation arrest
On July 12, Police noticed a driver not wearing a seatbelt at Mamaroneck and Post roads. Patrol circled around and conducted a traffic stop. The driver – Nagazaki Iturriaga, 36, of Scarsdale – presented police a passport and told officers that he did not have a driver’s license. The license had been revoked and had active suspensions for failure to pay a driver responsibility test, driving while ability impaired by alcohol, refusal to submit to a chemical test and failure to answer a summons. A further check revealed that an ignition interlock device restriction had been placed on Iturriaga’s license. Iturriaga was driving his girlfriend’s car, which was not equipped with a device. This meant Iturriaga was in violation of the restriction. Iturriaga was placed under arrested and charged with circumventing an interlock device, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, second-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a seat belt violation. Police notified the Westchester County probations department since Iturriaga was on probation. Iturriaga was released on $100 cash bail and issued an appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court on July 17.

Arrest on warrant
On July 9, a caller reported two male solicitors, attempting to sell window and roof repairs, on Potter Road. Police went to the scene and saw two men wearing fluorescent vests in a car. Police spoke with them, and the men stated they had been soliciting in the area. They presented a valid permit. However, police pointed out they were soliciting outside of the permitted time period. Upon checking the men’s IDs, police discovered one of the men – Steven Elliot Garner, 30, of Staten Island – had an active bench warrant out of Orange County. The warrant was for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Dispatch notified the Orange County Sheriff’s office, and that agency wished to extradite Garner. Scarsdale police held Garner until Orange County police picked him up.

Bail jumping arrest
On July 10, police processed the arrest of Erika Mollin, 45, of Scarsdale, on a charge of third-degree bail jumping on one charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance and various vehicle and traffic charges. Mollin was being held at Westchester County Jail on various charges from other jurisdictions. Scarsdale police picked her up and brought her to headquarters and Scarsdale Village Justice Court for arraignment. She was ordered to pay $1 bail and was transported back to Westchester County Jail.

Stolen
On July 9, a Ridgecrest East woman reported approximately $500 cash and various items had been stolen from her house sometime between July 3-8. The stolen items included five credit cards, two car keys, three rings, three tie clips, one pair of cufflinks, a gold pocket watch with a chain, a Tiffany watch, 60 assorted coins, a fine leather pouch and a blue nylon bag. Police are following up.

On July 10, a Popham Road store manager reported a customer put a box of razor blades into her bag without paying for it July 10. Police confronted the 22-year-old Yonkers woman outside the store. She admitted to placing a box of Skintimate razor blades into her bag and gave them to police. The store manager agreed to refrain from pressing charges as long as the woman paid for the razor blades and agreed to never return to the store. The total cost of the razor blades was $8.90. Police stood by while the woman paid for the razor blades.

On July 12, a Palmer Avenue woman reported her son’s $900 trumpet was stolen from Heathcote School on June 6.

ID theft
On July 8, a Griffen Avenue resident reported her credit card had been fraudulently used to purchase goods totaling approximately $140.

On July 9, a Cooper Road man reported that unauthorized accounts had been fraudulently applied for in his name. He learned of the attempts after receiving calls and letters from the credit card departments of Chase Bank and Bank of America. The man told the bank representatives that he had not applied for either card. Additionally, the post office is conducting an investigation into an unknown individual who attempted to divert mail from the man’s address to another address. The man believes the incidents are related.

On July 13, an Old Lyme Road man reported money had been stolen from his TD Bank account through multiple fraudulent debits totaling $10,300. A pending fraudulent purchase in the amount of $1,700 was also detected. According to TD bank employees, a person presented an ID in the man’s name and made the withdrawals at two banks in New Jersey.

Car break-in
On July 14, a Carman Road woman reported someone entered two parked cars in her driveway the previous night and tossed the interiors. She did not believe anything had been stolen from the cars. Additionally, a birdbath had been moved from behind the woman’s house and repositioned in front of one of the cars.

A Richbell Road resident believed six chairs, a lamp and a TV had been stolen from her house sometime in the past. On July 9, she consulted with police who examined her house and found some of the missing items near the locations where the resident had last seen them. The resident called her housekeeper regarding the remaining items still purported to be missing, and the housekeeper said she had never seen those items. The resident told police that “the mystery had been solved” and police services were no longer needed.

Welfare check
On July 11, police checked the welfare of a woman visiting a Richbell Close from China. She was OK.

Cell phone
A woman accidentally dropped her cell phone down into a sewer grate on Boniface Circle July 11.

Road rage
A 28-year-old Eastchester driver came to headquarters and reported that someone in another car ran him off the road, on Post Road and Boulevard, and proceeded to spray him with a fire extinguisher July 10. A 24-year-old female passenger, from Thornwood, also got sprayed by the fire extinguisher. The driver of the other car who allegedly engaged in the aggressive behavior was a 46-year-old Brooklyn man. Police interviewed all parties, and no one wished to pursue criminal charges.

Cars and roadways
A woman in a black Jeep was staring at a man who had parked his car in a parking space “where she liked to park” in the Wilgrin parking lot July 5. The man refused to move and the woman’s actions were making his feel uncomfortable. On July 8, the man reported the incident to police for documentation purposes.

Police issued parking summonses to the driver of a moving truck parking across two driveways and in front of a fire hydrant July 9.

Police put caution tape on a fallen cable wire on Scarsdale Avenue and notified the cable company for repair July 9.

Police notified the water department about a water leak on Griffen Avenue July 9.

Police helped a pedestrian cross Weaver Street July 10 and 13.

Police issued summonses to the drivers of a truck illegally parked on Christie Place and a car partially blocking a driveway on Brewster Road July 10.

The highway department removed a fallen tree from Bypass July 11.

Police closed a section of Post Road while a large truck maneuvered its way out of a driveway July 11. Police noticed the truck left indentations in the roadway and notified the highway department.

On July 12, police notified the highway department about a deer carcass by the side of Mamaroneck Road. Highway workers removed it.

The driver of an illegally parked car on Freightway Road received a summons from police July 12.

The water department was notified about a water main break on Fayette Road July 13.

On July 11, police gave trappers’ contact information to a Whig Road resident who complained of two raccoons near a basement window well.

Police issued a summons to the owner of a dog on Brambach Road due to repeated noise complaints about the dog’s loud barking, which police also observed.

Lost and found
A Quaker Ridge resident reported losing a set of car and house keys somewhere in the village July 14.

Firefighters
This week firefighters responded to 17 calls. Details of some incidents are listed below.

Firefighters assisted a Morris Lane daughter get back inside her house after she was accidentally locked out July 8.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a water leak near a gas connection on Wakefield Road July 8.

On July 9, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Post and Mamaroneck roads.

Firefighters were called to a group home on Post Road on a report of an extinguished fire near the house July 9. There, firefighters found a smoldering pile of cardboard, the remains of a folding cot and a mirror. The fire caused discoloration to the exterior stucco of the house. No source of ignition was found. Firefighters confirmed there was no extension of the fire into the structure of the house, and they hosed down the area.

On July 13, firefighters mitigated a leak in a Brewster Road house and shut down electrical connections to fixtures that were affected by the dripping water.

a roll of quarters equals how much money 3b43f29c a3b4 446e a445 9a97e4f42e3b 1Car break-ins: An Old Lyme Road homeowner’s 2010 Mercury Milan was entered overnight June 26/27, and someone stole the car’s owner’s manual and the owner’s NYS registration and insurance documents.

On June 27, at 3:15 a.m., police observed a parked car with its interior lights on at Sprague and White roads. Inside, they observed the console open and the contents tossed out on the seats. The owner was informed and said someone had apparently entered his car without permission. Nothing was noted as stolen. Around this same time, police received information that four cars had been broken into near the Scarsdale/Eastchester border, in the jurisdiction of Eastchester. It was also reported that two black men in a white or silver SUV were observed to be entering cars. Police were unable to locate any possible suspects.

An Old Lyme Road resident reported his parked 2017 Ford had been entered overnight and a roll of quarters was stolen June 27.
Prada sunglasses and their case were removed from a 2013 Lexus parked on Sprague Road June 27. The reported value of the sunglasses was $300.

Stolen
On June 25, a Walworth Avenue woman reported her cell phone was stolen from her bag on or about May 1 while it was left unattended.

A Richbell Road woman told police two chairs had possibly been stolen from her house, but she was going on vacation and could not file a report until after she returned June 28.

A street sign was discovered stolen from the corner of Madison and Drake roads June 28.

Vehicle and traffic offense arrest
On July 1, police arrested Wilson M. Miller, 28, of Elmsford, on charges of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. While conducting traffic enforcement on Post Road, police observed Miller’s 2016 Dodge SUV speeding. Police performed a traffic stop at Post and Oxford roads. Miller presented police with a NYS non-driver ID. A DMV check of Miller’s pedigree information revealed his privilege to drive in New York State had been suspended nine times on four dates for failing to answer traffic summonses. Police advised Miller of the suspensions and arrested him. Following booking and processing, Miller was released on $100 cash bail with an appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court.

Criminal mischief
On June 24, an Ogden Road resident reported damage to her car. It was caused by someone egging the car while it was parked on the street in front of the resident’s house June 23. The resident said she already took her car to the car wash but egg stains remained on the car’s hood and driver’s door.

A resident brought a defaced election sign to headquarters June 25. The sign, originally placed at the intersection of Post and Tompkins roads, had been defaced by red spray paint. It was a sign campaigning for a candidate for county judge.

Pranks
Police received two prank calls regarding a house on Old Lyme Rod June 24 and 25. One caller alleged that the house was on fire. The second caller alleged that a stove blew up at the house. Authorities investigated and determined both calls were unfounded.

Assistance
An LF employee accused two customers of taking tags off merchandise and stuffing items into their bags June 28. Police arrived and questioned the customers. The customers were not found with any merchandise in their possession. Nevertheless, store management asked police to tell the customers in question that were no longer welcome in the store.

Police accompanied an Edgewood man who needed to pick up a package from his parents’ house because an existing order of protection had been issued against him June 28. On June 30, police stood by while the man picked up belongings from his parents’ house.

On June 29, a Richbell Close resident reported he was out of the country and saw a man wearing a red sweatshirt walking with a backpack on his property. Police went to the resident’s house to investigate and encountered workers from a roofing company who stated they were subcontractors on a scheduled job. Police spoke with the resident who said he nevertheless wanted the workers to leave the scene and cease work for the day. The subcontractors said they understood and would comply with the resident’s request.

On June 29, police helped a Jefferson Road resident get her cell phone in working order after she did not answer her RUOK call.
A man wearing only one shoe was sitting next to a Nelson Road mailbox June 30. Police asked if he needed any assistance. He said he was OK and waiting for a resident across the street to return home.

Police performed a welfare check on a Crossway resident after the resident’s son was unable to reach him for several days June 30. The resident was observed in the backyard mowing the lawn. Police instructed him to call his son.

Empty bottles and cans
Police observed numerous empty beer cans and bottles littered in the rear parking lot of Edgewood School at 2:47 a.m., June 30. There were also multiple garbage bags filled with cans and bottles. Police searched the area but did not find any individuals who might have been responsible.

Scofflaw
On June 27, a 2016 Toyota parked at Woodland Place and Chase Road was found to be in scofflaw status. Police had the car towed to an impound lot. The owner, a 37-year-old White Plains man, resolved all parking fines owed to Village Justice Court and picked up his car later that day.

Cars and roadways
The dispatcher notified the water department of flowing water at Weaver Street and Griffen Avenue.

Police issued a summons to the registered owner of a car without license plates parked on Montrose Road June 25.

Police advised sanitation workers to removed a dead squirrel from Donellan Road June 25.

Police helped a woman cross Weaver Street two times on June 26 and once on June 30.

A passing car struck an unattended lawnmower on Butler Road June 26.

Police cut a backseat seat belt in order to release a child who was stuck after numerous attempts to release the seat belt failed June 26.

A neighbor reported that a metal roadway plate had been put down at Fenimore Road and Dobbs Terrace, and it was making a loud and disturbing noise when cars passed over it June 27. Police noticed that the plate was loose and informed the highway department in order to address the situation.

Police removed fallen branches form Weaver Street June 27.

Approximately 20 traffic cones were found placed in the roadway at Brite Avenue and Cohawney Road June 29. Police moved the cones back to the side of the road to mark an area of curb restoration.

A truck backed into a Saxon Woods Road driveway and pulled down wires June 28. Police notified Con Edison.

Police notified Con Edison about low-hanging wires on Ogden Road June 28.

The cap of a water main was loose and in the road at Graham and Lawrence roads June 28. Police replaced the cap and notified the highway department.

Patrol called a tow truck for a disabled car on Palmer Avenue June 28.

A car was parked with its passenger tires on a Fox Meadow Road lawn June 29. Police asked the driver to move the car.

Civil matter
On June 24, A Circle Road resident reported a branch fell onto her yard from a neighbor’s tree. Police advised the resident it was a civil matter.

Village code
A Hampton Road resident complained of noise coming from a Harcourt Road backyard June 26. Police arrived on scene and heard people talking in the Harcourt Road backyard. Although the talking was not loud, police advised the people of the neighbor’s complaint. The people said they would move their conversation inside.

On June 26, police issued a summons to a landscaper using a gas-powered leaf blower.

On June 27, police issued a summons to a Church Lane homeowner for a village code violation related to an alarm sounding in excess of the allowable time period.

A summons was issued to a Brambach Road dog owner for a dog that was barking excessively June 27.

Lost and found
An Uber driver reported finding a wallet in his car June 25. He informed police who reached out to the owner’s father, who then picked up the wallet.

A UPS driver reported finding a handheld scanning device, worth approximately $2,000, on Graham Road June 25. Although the device powered on, police were unable to retrieve any identifying information from it.

A Nelson Road man reported that his children’s grandmother lost her iPhone and house keys at Davis Park June 26. The phone and keys were inside a children’s Cars themed backpack inside a children’s wagon, but the backpack was missing when the grandmother wanted to leave the park. Police questioned other parents and caregivers at the park, but nobody recalled seeing the backpack.

A passport was found on East Parkway June 27. Police contacted the passport holder’s sister, who said she would inform her brother for pickup.

A cell phone found on East Parkway returned to its owner, who picked it up at headquarters, June 27.

On June 28, an MTA train passenger found a car key on the train and gave it to Scarsdale police. Police contacted MTA police and Greenburgh police to inform them about the found key.

On June 29, a Scarsdale Avenue resident reported losing her $900 rose gold cell phone somewhere in the village. The resident complained that the phone fell out of a baby carriage while the resident was pushing the carriage. Police informed neighboring jurisdictions in case anyone turned in a found phone.

Animals
Police reunited a lost dog with its owner on Pinecrest Road June 26.

An employee of CVS left her pet cat inside her car parked in an underground parking garage while at work June 27. A passerby saw the cat and alerted police. The windows were cracked open approximately two inches each, and the employee said she walked the cat during her lunch hour and checked on it during breaks. The underground parking garage was determined to be cooler than temperatures outdoors.

Firefighters
Firefighters extinguished a brush fire on the Hutchinson River Parkway and overhauled the area June 24.

On June 25, an odor of burning plastic in a Johnson Road house was traced to an air conditioning system. Firefighters de-energized the system and advised the homeowner to replace it.

Firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Bronx River Parkway June 25.

A burning odor in a Brite Avenue structure was traced to an insect burning on a halogen light fixture June 25.

A bird entered a Greenacres Avenue house through a fireplace flue and got stuck inside the house June 26. Firefighters caught the bird in a blanket and released it outside.

An attic fan overheated in a Webster Road house and caused a light smoke condition June 26. Firefighters disconnected the fan and ventilated the space.

Firefighters and police entered a Popham Road residence to evaluate a possible hoarding situation June 27. The resident was not home at the time, and the fire inspector is following up.

Firefighters unplugged an overheated sump pump in an East Parkway business June 28.

On June 29, firefighters assisted at a rollover car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

Firefighters determined a fallen wire at a Rock Creek Lane house was a cable wire June 29. The homeowner was advised to contact the cable provider.

In total, firefighters responded to 28 incidents this week.

beachchairStolen
A Stratton Road woman reported she had ordered some beach chairs for $42.99 each. On July 3, she brought all of the beach chairs into her house, except one, which she accidentally left outside. After realizing she had forgotten about the chair, she went outside to bring it in and discovered it was missing.

ID theft
On July 1, a Wynmor Road man reported that someone used his Social Security number and personal information to open a fraudulent Paypal account sometime in October. The man discovered the matter after receiving two packages, which he did not order, at his address.

On July 2, a Tisdale Road man reported someone opened a fraudulent Verizon account and used it to purchase four cell phones and activate related accounts. The man discovered it after he received an unexpected Verizon bill for $588.

Scam
On July 2, a Cushman Road woman reported someone posing as her father defrauded her of money. She said she had received a cell phone message through WhatsApp from someone alleging to be her father. The person requested that she electronically wire money to a Transferwise account in the amount of $773.70. After realizing that the messages had not, in fact, been sent from her father, the woman attempted to cancel the transfer, but it was too late. Police advised her to monitor her accounts.

Marijuana
A Woman reported seeing people smoking marijuana on the County bike path near River Road July 2. Police notified Westchester County Police for follow-up.

Luggage
A baggage service dropped off luggage at the wrong address on Carthage Lane July 2. Patrol contacted the owner of the luggage and the luggage was properly claimed.

Prank call
A person reported an Old Lyme Road house was on fire July 3. The call was a prank.

Concerns
An employee of a restaurant on East Parkway reported a man in his 60s or 70s, described as wearing “a gray and white cut-off shirt and a pink skirt” was standing in the corner of the store observing customers for no apparent legitimate reason July 4. When questioned by employees about what he was doing, the man replied, “This is my fetish.” Then, he left the restaurant. Police advised employees to call again if the man returns.

Scofflaw
Police noticed a car with scofflaw status parked on Chase Road July 1. While waiting for an impound tow, the registered owner arrived on scene. Patrol cancelled the tow when the owner said she would follow up with Village Justice Court to resolve the matter immediately.

Damage
A landscaper using a weed trimmer accidentally kicked a rock into a school owned vehicle and broke window glass at the depot at Secor and Ramsey roads July 5. The landscaper reportedly left the scene.

A Nelson Road homeowner detected a small hole in a pane of window glass at her house July 6. Police deduced the hole was most likely caused by recent landscaping work.

Pedestrian struck
A 47-year-old Bronx woman was struck by a truck at Post and Fairview roads July 4. According to the truck driver, the woman abruptly entered the roadway and stopped his truck after making contact with the woman. The woman allegedly fell to the ground, got up and continued walking across the street. She complained to police of head pain and was taken to White Plains Hospital Center for treatment.

Vehicle and traffic arrest
On July 1, police arrested Victor M. Marinez Contreras, 20, of Yonkers, on a charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle with three or more suspensions within three months. The arrest occurred after police stopped Contreras on Weaver Street for having an illegally tinted front windshield and discovered his driver’s license was suspended.

Cars and roadways
The water department was notified about a water main break on Mamaroneck Road July 1. Some water leaked into a nearby basement as a result, and firefighters assisted in pumping water from the basement.

Patrol helped a pedestrian cross Weaver Street July 2.

A man sleeping in a car in Herkimer Road July 3 was discovered to be a contractor taking a rest while on a break.

On July 5, police contacted the owner of a disabled car parked at Hutchinson Avenue and Meadow Road to inform the owner that it needed to be moved due to scheduled roadway maintenance.

The water department was notified about a water main break on Griffen Avenue July 6.

Police removed a fallen branch from Secor Road July 6.

Police placed a traffic barrier around a sinkhole on Tisdale Road July 7.

Civil matter
On July 3, a Bradley Road resident reported a neighbor’s surveillance camera captures footage of his driveway and a portion of his property, and the resident believes this is a violation of his privacy. The resident said he believes his neighbor is intentionally capturing footage of the man’s property, and this footage was used in the past to levy charges against his wife for leaving the scene of an accident after she was involved in a traffic incident in the camera footage area. Police advised the resident this was a civil matter.

Animals
Police picked up a loose dog from Webster Road and reunited it with its owner, who called headquarters looking for her lost dog, July 4. A summons for having a dog at large was issued.

Village code
Police issued summonses to landscapers for using gas-powered leaf blowers in violation of village code on Springdale, Mamaroneck and Lincoln roads July 1, Post and Popham roads July 2, Post Road July 3 and Lincoln Road July 6.

Lost and found
A passerby found a wallet on Post Road July 6. Police used ID card information to track down the owner of wallet and return it to her.

Firefighters
On July 1, firefighters pumped water from a Carthage Road basement following a water main break on Mamaroneck Road.

On July 3, firefighters notified Con Edison about elevated levels of carbon monoxide in a Church Lane house. Firefighters ventilated the house while Con Edison shut down two faulty boiler units and capped the gas lines.

On July 5, firefighters assisted units from other jurisdictions extricate people from a car following an accident down an embankment at White Plains Road and South Broadway.

On July 6, a carbon monoxide leak was found in a Chase Road restaurant’s kitchen, with elevated carbon monoxide levels extending into neighboring offices in the same building. Firefighters shut down the gas and stood by for Con Edison. They also ventilated the building.

An electrical wire was arcing and on fire on Drake Road July 6. Con Edison was dispatched, and firefighters loaned a generator to the Scarsdale Woman’s Club because it had lost power during the incident. Police assisted with maintaining safety zones and escorting guests in and out of the Woman’s Club during the incident.

On July 7, firefighters assisted at a car accident involving a pregnant woman in the parking lot of Saxon Pool on Mamaroneck Avenue.

StanleyMan caught breaking into cars: On June 19, police arrested Stanley Dejesus-Cruz, 25, of Astoria, after a witness saw him enter a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan parked in a Pinecrest Road driveway at approximately 6:50 a.m. that day. The witness saw Dejesus-Cruz emerge from the car approximately one minute later holding a white bag in his arm. At that time, Dejesus-Cruz attempted to enter another car parked in a Pinecrest Road driveway.

In doing so, an antenna was snapped of one of the cars and used to attempt to gain entry to the car through the passenger door. Police were dispatched and encountered the suspect standing on Pinecrest Road. Dejesus-Cruz told police he had been visiting family and was looking for his car and his girlfriend. He was unable to provide a location or address for the supposed “family member” whom he said he had visited. Upon searching Dejesus-Cruz, police found two drivers’ licenses from residents of Scarsdale in Dejesus-Cruz’s pockets. Upon witness identification that Dejesus-Cruz was the person seen entering the Pinecrest Road Dodge, police arrested Dejesus-Cruz. Inside the patrol car, Dejesus-Cruz began shouting profanities, kicking the seats and threatening violence against the officers. At headquarters, Dejesus-Cruz’s was booked, and his arrest was processed. He was arraigned at Scarsdale Village Justice Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail. He was charged with criminal mischief and petit larceny. Patrol recovered items from Dejesus-Cruz and showed them to Scarsdale residents who reported thefts from vehicles during the overnight period of June18-19. Some residents identified items belonging to them, which linked Dejesus-Cruz to those crimes. Police continue to investigate Dejesus-Cruz’s involvement with other car break-ins reported on June 19. In total, 13 car break-ins were reported to have occurred over June 18-19.

Car break-ins
A Taunton Road man reported someone entered his unlocked 2012 Mercedes Benz, tossed items in the interior and stole a roll of quarters June 19.

On July 19, a Pinecrest Road resident reported two parked cars had been broken into at her house. A roll of quarters worth approximately $6 was stolen.

On June 19, a South Church Lane woman reported multiple items had been stolen from her parked car overnight on Southwoods Lane. Stolen items included bags of clothing, a key fob, a raincoat and $35 cash.

On June 19, a Tunstall Road resident reported her car had been broken into overnight.

On June 19, a School Lane resident reported change had been from stolen from her parked car overnight. She did not request a formal report due to the minimal loss incurred.

On June 19, an East Taunton Road resident reported an overnight theft of items from her parked car.
On June 19, an Overhill Road resident reported an overnight theft of items from her parked car.

On June 19, a Lockwood Road resident reported an overnight theft of items from her parked car.

On June 19, an Edgewood Road resident reported an overnight theft of a Bose Bluetooth speaker from her parked car.

On June 19, one Southwoods Lane resident reported her GMC had been broken into and papers were found scattered about. Her EZ was also missing.

Also on June 19, another Southwoods Lane resident reported her Jeep Grand Cherokee had been broken into overnight, and an iPhone had been left behind.

Later that day, on June 19, a third Southwoods Lane resident reported her car had been entered overnight, and items were stolen.

On June 20, a Lockwood Road resident reported an unlocked car parked in his driveway had been entered and tossed June 19.

Burglary
A Tisdale Road resident filed a burglary report June 20. He said he returned home around midnight June 19 and left his Microsoft Surface Pro inside his backpack in the mudroom of his house. He locked his garage door but did not activate his alarm. The computer equipment was in good working order at that time. Later, police recovered the resident’s missing Surface Pro with a cracked screen. It was determined that someone opened the window of his garage and entered his house this way in order to steal the equipment. Detectives are following up.

Theft
On June 24, a woman called police alleging that $250 cash and a bankcard had been stolen out of brown paper bag she left inside a Scarsdale Avenue business around 2 a.m., June 24. The bag was returned to her by a store employee, but it was missing the cash and bankcard when she picked it up. Upon confronting the employee, he tried to give the woman $199 from the cash register to make up for the missing money. The woman became suspicious and called police. Upon investigation, police questioned the employee. He eventually admitted to taking the money and the bankcard, which he claimed he cut up due to it being “lost.” The full $250 was returned to the woman.

Arrested
On June 22, police were called to a Butler Road house around 4 a.m. because of a young man reportedly banging on a resident’s front door. There, police encountered Richard Samuel Levy, 19, of Greenwich, CT, banging on the door and trying to get in the house. He told police he had taken an Uber from New York City to Scarsdale in order to stay at a friend’s house. However, he could not provide an address for the alleged house belonging to his friend. He said he thought the house he was attempting to enter belonged to his friend. The homeowner said the young man did not have permission to be on the property. Levy was arrested and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was booked and processed at headquarters and released on his own recognizance with a June 26 appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court.

ID theft
A Torrence Place resident reported a fraudulent credit card account was opened in his name June 17.

A Haverford Avenue man reported giving his personal information and Social Security number to an individual, alleging to be a Social Security representative, over the phone June 18. The man said he now believed the call was a scam. Police advised him to report the matter to the three credit monitoring bureaus.

Criminal mischief
On June 23, a caller reported a highway sign was in the roadway on Carstensen Lane. Police went to the scene and observed a 30 mph speed limit sign, removed from its post and defaced with graffiti. The graffiti attempted to change the speed limit to read 80 mph, instead of 30 mph. Police could not determine the original location of the sign.

Dispute
An employee of a package delivery serviced based in Port Chester was training a new employee for the job, and the new employee was allegedly displaying a bad attitude on Montrose Road June 19. The employee called his boss and reported the matter, stating he did not want to work with the new employee. At that time, police were notified, and an Uber was called for the new employee.

A driver reported a dispute with another driver over an Overhill Road parking spot June 20. The second driver left the scene when the first driver called police.

Assistance
A man was reported to be “passed out” on the pedestrian bridge at the Scarsdale Train Station at 2 p.m., June 18. Police roused the man. He refused medical assistance and went home in a taxi.

Broken glass
A Meadow Road resident reported she returned home to find a pane of glass in a storm door to be broken June 19. There were a few shards of broken glass, but otherwise the glass had been cleaned up. Police advised the resident to check with her landscaping company to see if workers accidentally damaged the door. There were no signs of attempted forced entry.

Photos
An unknown man was reported to be taking pictures of a Fox Meadow Road house without the owner’s permission, according to the owner’s cleaning ladies June 20. The cleaning ladies said the man rang the doorbell, but they did not answer the door. The cleaning ladies photographed the man. He was described in the report as a white man, in his 60s, approximately 6 feet tall with long white hair and a manicured white beard and wearing a salmon-colored polo shirt and khaki pants.

Drunken traveler
An intoxicated man was reported to be unresponsive in a Metro-North train car pulling into Scarsdale train station around 8:27 p.m., June 20. Police notified and stood by for MTA police.

Scofflaw
On June 20, police towed a 2016 Mazda from Christie Place to the impound lot due to the owner owing $925 in unpaid parking tickets.

Pedestrian hit
On June 20, around 6:30 p.m., a 66-year-old Scarsdale driver hit a pedestrian after coming to a stop at a stop sign at Autenreith and Popham roads. The driver said he did not see the 44-year-old male pedestrian, from Scarsdale, as the pedestrian was crossing the street. The car made impact with the pedestrian’s wrist. The pedestrian refused medical treatment.

Cars and roadways
On June 17,19 20, 21 and 22, police helped a pedestrian cross Weaver Street.
Police received a report of a car full of screaming youths on Boulevard and Johnson Road June 17. Police arrived on scene and encountered three girls standing outside a car talking in loud tones. They told police they were afraid of several bugs in the car. Police inspected the interior of the car and rolled down the windows to alleviate the problem.

Police notified the department of transportation about a malfunctioning traffic light at Wynmor Road June 18.

Police removed a fallen branch from Nelson Road and notified the highway department about a fallen tree on the street June 19.

Police issued a parking summons to the owner of a car parked across a Montrose Road driveway June 20.

Patrol notified the highway department to remove debris from Mamaroneck Road June 20.

On June 21, police removed a fallen branch from Fountain Terrace.

Nine car accidents were reported in the village during the reporting period.

Village code

Animals
A ground hog was stuck in netting around batting cages on Mamaroneck Road June 18. Patrol managed to free the animal, and it ran off toward the woods.

Police contacted the sanitation department to remove a dead raccoon from a Birchall Drive property June 19.

A friendly, older brown Lab was found loose on Walworth Avenue June 22. New Rochelle Humane Society picked up the dog, and a village code violation summons was issued for the owner, pending pickup.

Lost and found
A Fenimore Road man reported losing his wallet in an Uber after the Uber dropped him off in White Plains June 20. The man contacted Uber, and a representative said he would contact the driver within 24 hours. Police advised the man to monitor his credit accounts.

A passerby found a key on Brite Avenue and gave it to police June 20.

A Chase Road man lost his wallet and believes it fell into a sewer on Spencer Place June 20.

An abandoned bag was found at Village Hall June 19 and given to police.

Firefighters
According to Scarsdale Fire Chief James Seymour, firefighters responded to 34 incidents during the reporting period. Seymour shared the following details.

On June 19, firefighters assisted at a rollover car accident on the Bronx River Parkway.

Elevated levels of carbon monoxide were detected in a Park Road house June 19. Firefighters ventilated the house and determined the source was power tools being used inside the house. Workers were advised to not use gas-powered saws inside structures.

On June 20, firefighters assisted at a rollover car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

On June 20, firefighters responded to a Haverford Avenue house for a reported odor of electrical burning. They found a problem with the first-floor air conditioning thermostat and A/C unit in the attic. The unit’s breaker was turned off, and firefighters advised the homeowner to call for service.

On June 21, a tree fell onto a Cushman Road pool heater, crushing the unit and causing a slight gas leak. Power and gas were shut off to the unit. Firefighters advised the homeowner to contact a pool contractor.

On June 21, firefighters were called to a Brookby Road house for a reported drone that caught fire inside the house but was now outside and extinguished. Upon firefighters’ arrival, the homeowner reported she was charging the drone, and it caught fire. Firefighters used a fan to ventilate the house.
